It is our local country park, and is very good for country park. There are interesting constructions such as 'woodhenge' and some good views. Good activity park and there are days in which there is an outside BBQ - need to check for this. As you walk around there are traces of its industrial past - you would not think this now. For kids there is a good adventure centre.
One thing that niggles me is the parking charge - a flat £2 irrespective of time - no problem if you are staying a half day, but I like to pop in for a 15 minute brisk walk round the pond. If you want to avoid the charge park in a little place near in Woodlands Lane near the junction with Brewers Road and enter via the public footpath which leads to the fishing lake.
Also wear good shoes unless it is very dry - it can be boggy in places.
