We loved it here. Great food, atmosphere and the staff were fab, attentive!! Food is not cheap but it's definitely worth it for a special occasion.

“Good Service, average cuisine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Mother's Day set menu - thought a more formal hotel venue set in nice grounds might be a pleasant change from a stand alone restaurant. Unfortunately the ground floor Banqueting Hall did not have views or windows but was heavily draped, so the views of the rolling countryside behind the hotel were not visible. I didn't get to see the upstairs restaurant so can't comment, but assume it has windows and views.

The service was excellent; many many staff, outnumbering the clients most of the time, many young, perhaps apprentices, but all very pleasant, charming, fun and attentive. Their managers were excellent too.

The food was of an ok standard - it wasn't poor, nor was it particularly good, just ok, hence my 'average' rating. Soup - unsure whether it was home-made as there was a slight powdery taste - followed by salmon, my partner had the roast beef. She ordered medium rare but when it arrived, the maitre d' apologised the whole joint had been cooked medium-well. He offered a glass of house wine as recompense - again a good sign of the type of service we received throughout the meal.

“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Certainly liked this hotel. We attended a wedding back in the summer and stayed the night. Rooms were lovely and the breakfast was plentiful. Highly recommended.
