“Quiet location, great breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

We stayed two nights in this hotel – even though it looks new on the website, the room itself looked rather “old” and the beds were too soft to be comfortable, giving us aching backs in the morning. The mini-bar / refrigerator was empty, though the hotel information guide mentioned that it can be filled on request – not a real problem but then there weren’t any glasses or bottle openers available either. We had to use the plastic cups from the bathroom. The breakfast was great with a lot of variety of food and staff very friendly. We also used the sauna facilities once but this is to be avoided. The sauna and the showers/dressing room are all in the same place, meaning that it’s hot in the whole room, so quite uncomfortable to get dressed. We had to shower once again when we were back in our room. All in all, I rate this hotel as average. It’s in a quiet location and the breakfast is a big plus. Perfect location to visit the “Hoge Veluwe”.

Located in beautiful environment. You don't hear traffic.
Very attentive staff !
Nice food, very well prepared even though served on a buffet.
Small beds and rooms.
Bath room was old-fashioned and needed redecoration

First the nice things: the hotel is very well located for visits to Arnhem and the Hoge Veluwe. It is in a quiet neighboorhood, so sleep quality was excellent. The woods acros the street were very inviting to go running, and also the grounds of the hotel (reception, outside pool, tennis courts, garden, are nice and inviting to just relax)
The room themselves are not so nice as they are rather old fashioned with a very low ceiling. I almost touched this when I was in the shower. The indoor pool is a nice size in which you can realy swim, but unfortunately the area has no outside view, is way too hot and not inviting to relax longtime. You need to reserve the sauna which is nice by itself, but again in a room that is not inviting.
Food in the restaurant was nice, but with a very long wait time on Saturday evening.

We stayed in this hotel for one night to visit Arnhem. Our room looked modern but still had a nice atmosphere. The bathroom was also modern, well-kept and clean. The room had plenty of facilities, including extra pillows, a small desk, a small sitting area, a flat-screen television, a fridge, and coffee and tea facilities.

We did find the room to be quite hot, though we were not bothered by this. Considering that we stayed in April while it was quite cold outside, this may well become a problem in summer. Although the hotel had no air-conditioning, there was a large fan in a corner of the room (which also suggests something).

The hotel also serves as a conference center and is quite large. As such, it has plenty of facilities, many of which are free. We did not use them all, but the free facilities included an indoor swimming pool (outdoor in summer), sauna, tennis courts, a billiard table, table tennis, a dart board, a simple fitness center, and Wi-Fi. A solarium and bicycle rental service could be used for a fee. A bar and a restaurant were also available.

Service was good, with friendly staff and a 24-hours reception in a modern-looking renovated lobby. Breakfast was good too, with a nice continental options as well as some cooked food.

The hotel’s location in Doorwerth is either great or not that great, depending on the purpose of your stay. Doorwerth lies in the middle of a nicely forested area, but if you want a city with bars and restaurants you may have to drive to Arnhem. However, be sure not to forget Doorwerth Castle, which can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by car via the forest.

We stayed 4 nights and it was fun especially for the kids. The hotel is well maintained with comfort even for a toddler. The indoor swimming pool was fun for my kids. The surrounding is so cool for relaxation with playground and outdoor swimming pool too. However the rooms are a bit cramped. Also the other down side is that dinner is no available after 9p.m. The location is good for out-of town get-away relaxation but has the disadvantage of no close-by shopping mall or good eatery.
