“Nice play for a stay at Ameland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

We have had a very pleasant stay at a family room, containing two bedrooms and a livingroom/kitchen. In the bathroom, toilet and kitchen there were some curious stains on the walls and ceiling. At our spacious balcony we've found a small plate which was used as an ashstray by the previous guests. Uncleaned. This looked a bit strange.

The masterbedroom was ingeniously situated behind the cupboard in the livingroom. Two sliding doors gave access to the bed. It was not possible to walk around the bed so each one of us had to use another entrance to the bedroom. The cupboards between the bedrooms were also shared. Great space saver. The bathroom was nice. However, I personally don't like to shower in the bathtub, which was very high so difficult to climb in an out.

The kitchen was equiped for 4 persons but had more plates. Also enough cutlery and pans. However, if you plan to selfcater, make sure to bring your own spatulas because these were not provided. Also a strainer, drainer and cheese slicer were missing. Is that bad? Mwah, depends on what you're expecting and on your plans. Nes has plenty of nice restaurants so self catering is not nessecary. We cooked one evening and missed these things.

We also broke a glass and notified the reception staff. It was no problem at all. Nice is bread roll service. You can take breakfast in the restaurant but also order bread rolls at the reception. They were still warm when we got them.

The hotel has a covered bicycle storage. PLenty of bikes can be stored in this. Still many people put their bikes outside. I can imagine the storage is over crowded in peak season.

We did not use the restaurant. Instead we had dinner at San Remo pizzeria in Nes, lunch at Buren van Nes and the pancakerestaurant in Hollum (under the lighthouse). Terrace van Heeckeren in Nes is also very nice for some drinks and (finger)food.

Overall, thanks to this hotel which is close to Nes and the beach, and the lovely autumn weather we had a great time at Ameland. I can recoomend this hotel to everybody who wants to stay in an appartment (familyroom).

Room Tip: Our room was at first floor, facing the Nature centre. Rooms at this part of the hotel have the afte...

We slept here in the beginning of september with our company trip (65 employees). Dinner was ok (not too special; buffet), service was good, kind waiters. Rooms were fine, good beds and nice balcony. 1 1/2 km walk to the beach, the hotel arranged the bicycle rental. Good value.

Good rooms, friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet style. Do not eat in the restaurant though, it is really not good enough. Menu has not changed in 2 years, actually I do not know why they are still open. Nice place to stay with kids for a weekend. Use the pool, rent some bikes, go to the sea, eat some pancakes or a pizza.

Room Tip: Family rooms with kitchenette available on ground floor, with direct access to the garden

the breakfast was really nice; and some of the staff very friendly. basically this is an ok place to put up camp if you wish to break away during the day--i.e. these are not rooms in which you wish to stay all day, but in the end they serve the purpose; bathroom a bit tiny. the double-bed was in fact two singles put together, which however seems not uncommon in holland so we cannot blame the hotel for that. location-wise this hotel is in between nes and the sea, convenient. the pool was small but despite that we had a great time with the children.

Nothing really wrong with it, reasonable rates for what you get. But views from rooms less than ravishing. Hotel's restaurant under-used mainly due to totally uninspiring menu, we thought...
Parking lot unpaved and pot-holed with gravel that's being tracked all over....
Bicycle parking-sheds over-crowded with mass-stored rental bikes and unsufficient e-bike re-charging facilities.
Swimming pool tiny and utilitarian. All in all, not a shadow of this chain's Vlieland hotel (magnificent pool, beach-front situation and views).

Nice, new hotel just outside Nes... It is half a hour walking from the ferry, but you can also rent bikes at the ferry and they arrange that the luggage is delivered at the hotel. The beach is also within walking distance, but again renting a bike is probably the best way to explore the island. Good, comfortable rooms with a balcony. Breakfast has a good choice and if the weather allows it you can enjoy it outside. A wonderful place to relax and chill out......

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

I've been to Hotel Noordsee a couple of times as a single parent with my 5 year old son. It conveniently located between the beautiful village Nes and the beach, both within 5 minutes by bike of 10-15 minutes walking. In case of bad weather (not unlikely), my son always enjoys the swimming pools. At this time of the year, the hotel was very quiet and accordingly we got relatively cheap rates for our room.
