We have had a very pleasant stay at a family room, containing two bedrooms and a livingroom/kitchen. In the bathroom, toilet and kitchen there were some curious stains on the walls and ceiling. At our spacious balcony we've found a small plate which was used as an ashstray by the previous guests. Uncleaned. This looked a bit strange.
The masterbedroom was ingeniously situated behind the cupboard in the livingroom. Two sliding doors gave access to the bed. It was not possible to walk around the bed so each one of us had to use another entrance to the bedroom. The cupboards between the bedrooms were also shared. Great space saver. The bathroom was nice. However, I personally don't like to shower in the bathtub, which was very high so difficult to climb in an out.
The kitchen was equiped for 4 persons but had more plates. Also enough cutlery and pans. However, if you plan to selfcater, make sure to bring your own spatulas because these were not provided. Also a strainer, drainer and cheese slicer were missing. Is that bad? Mwah, depends on what you're expecting and on your plans. Nes has plenty of nice restaurants so self catering is not nessecary. We cooked one evening and missed these things.
We also broke a glass and notified the reception staff. It was no problem at all. Nice is bread roll service. You can take breakfast in the restaurant but also order bread rolls at the reception. They were still warm when we got them.
The hotel has a covered bicycle storage. PLenty of bikes can be stored in this. Still many people put their bikes outside. I can imagine the storage is over crowded in peak season.
We did not use the restaurant. Instead we had dinner at San Remo pizzeria in Nes, lunch at Buren van Nes and the pancakerestaurant in Hollum (under the lighthouse). Terrace van Heeckeren in Nes is also very nice for some drinks and (finger)food.
Overall, thanks to this hotel which is close to Nes and the beach, and the lovely autumn weather we had a great time at Ameland. I can recoomend this hotel to everybody who wants to stay in an appartment (familyroom).
