We stopped off here on our drive through the Grand St. Bernard Pass. I am biased as I have raised two St. Bernards. If you aren't fond of them, you may not like it as much. Yes, it is true that you see the Saint Bernards through glass windows but they do bring one or two out at a time that you can get as close as you want to with them for petting, hugging, scruffing and great photo ops. They had about 15 puppies out playing while we were there, as well. You can arrange in advance for around 45 euro to schedule a walk with 3 or 4 dogs. There is a website link on the museum webpage for this. You could see the kids (young and old) eyes light up when the dogs were brought out of their pens. Amazing fun. It was also very interesting to see their history in the museum and to also see how the pass and tunnels were made using the Bernards and elephants. I was amazed how clean and well kept the kennels were. There is also a well priced gift shop attached to the museum and as a bonus, a nice art museum across the way from it. This is worth a stop off for a couple hours. Price for a family was 25 Francs or 21 Euro, which is more than fair.
