“An enjoyable morning but too busy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Really enjoyed the sculpture garden and the car museum. The art/history part was very very busy, however, and the queue at the cafe lengthy. It would benefit from a limit on numbers allowed in at one time, I think.

“Sculpture Garden is Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

Ok, the sculpture gardens in Washington, D.C. are free and pretty much as good as this one, but for a modern art sculpture buff this sculpture garden is a must. And if you have the time, there are some other interesting exhibitions going on in the museum.

“Unexpected...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

I went there just to waste my time and was not prepared to enjoy so much the Modigliani collection and the gardens.
Nonetheless some of my favorites are represented there but this takes place in an amasing place. Inside the light from the roof is impressive. Outside, the spectacular collection is magnified by the mountains around.

Try the "tarte à l'abricot"... A must have.

“Modigliani placed in the  context of his epoque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

The Gianadda museum in Martigny is a real gem, a human sized museum that hosts special as well as permanent exhibits. This time, the special exhibit was on Modigliani et l’École de Paris.

There are some lovely paintings and sculptures, interspersed with paintings from other artists of the epoque. There is also a photo exhibit depicting the different stages of the artist's life.

A nice way to spend a rainy day.

“A must see if you are in the area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Generally 2 collections are displayed a year and, given Leonard Gianadda's wide network of acquaintances and friends in the art world, they are always spectacular and often quite rare. I wouldn't miss this unique opportunity to combine a good dose of art culture with all of the other wonderful outdoorsy stuff you can usually find in the Valais.
