“Lovely stay - but choose your room away from the bar area!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2015

Small friendly hotel with easy-going and helpful staff. Great situation not far from the station. The room was very comfortable and quiet, though friends who had rooms over the bar were not so lucky and didn't get a lot of sleep due to the noise - so beware! Remember to ask for a room well away from the bar. Breakfast was good - delicious bread and croissants, small selection of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts.. You can help yourself to tea or coffee in the very comfortable lounge area at any time of the day. Room prices are reasonable for a resort. No restaurant in the hotel but several just a stone's throw away. A lovely stay - thanks.

The hotel is located right in the middle of this lovely town, just three hundred metres from the train station. It is nice, clean and bright, the staff are very friendly. A nice breakfast is included in the price.

We decided to book this hotel, since we went ballooning in Chateâu-d'Oex. The village is really small, but even so the hotel is extremely well located.

The receptionist was excellent, and was able to give us a solution for a 5.30 am breakfast (normally served after 7.00).

Do not expect a luxurious stay, but you can aim for a good night sleep.

Tip: The hotel does not offer parking however I found out (after I parked in the village covered park), that you have plenty of parking nearby the hotel. If you arrive by car, try to reach the hotel before parking. It is highly probable that you will find free parking.

We normally stay in more expensive and luxurious hotels so to be honest we didn't really have high expectations for this modestly priced hotel. However this hotel fitted the bill very nicely for a recent trip to this charming town to visit the annual balloon fiesta.
We received a warm welcome and our room was clean and reasonably spacious. There is a lounge area where you can help yourself to nespresso coffee, teas, soft drinks and fruit, and we were impressed by the continental breakfast on offer. Just in case your French isn't too fluent, a lovely lady called Debbie who is originally from England works in the hotel and serves breakfast, and was very friendly.
The Caribou bar below the hotel didn't make much noise while we were there which other reviewers have complained about, there are earplugs provided in the rooms just in case! We would also recommend the brasserie de l'ours opposite which they seem to own, fab fondue and friendly service.
The only things we feel could be improved on are the beds, not the most comfortable but adequate for a short stay, and not having tea/coffee making facilities in the room was unusual but they did have it downstairs as previously mentioned.
All in all a good value and friendly hotel!

What I wanted: A moderate-price hotel with in-room free WiFi, an elevator (back problems), free parking, and central location.

What I got: Exactly what I wanted. Hotel was clean, service was good, and location in the middle of the small town, but with open adjacent parking..

Stayed here for a wedding with many friends, and had a very enjoyable weekend. The room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was a real feast! Only downside is the noise coming from the bar downstairs, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are probably quieter.

Went to chateau d'oex for our daughters baptism. Hotel had great reviews so booked 7 rooms. Hotel failed to mention that there was a live music concert in the hotel bar. Most of my family got to sleep at 3am the time the crowds outside the bar had left. Had not intended to write a review but was given no formal apology further to my emails and not even a mention when we checked out the next morning. Even the staff at the bar said we should have been informed of the event as they know the rooms are badly effected by the vibrations and badly isolated rooms. I am all for success and supporting of country hotels but when money comes before human decency I just can't accept. All the family were totally exhausted for the baptism including my daughter who in finally fell asleep at 2am.
