“Very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We had terrible weather, but that did not distract from the beauty of the lake. There is a boat quay about 5-10 mins walk away which takes you all over the lake. Due to the weather this place felt rather dark and dank, but I'm sure it would be lovely and refreshing and shady in good weather. Staff helpful, especially when I unwell, and breakfast extremely good. it is near two main roads but no real noise. Slept very well!! Room quite large and clean and tidy.

I love the style of this hotel and it's charm - it is not overly decorated as some are, and is very well designed. Location is away from city distractions but close enough to walk to the nearby village of Faulensee, and even a bit larger town of Spiez. The view from the hotel is stunning with the Thunersee right in front of you. The water can be chilly but feels delicious on a hot day. No a/c so if it is summer and the windows are open you will hear the street traffic. We take a fan and a white-noise machine (called 'sound screen') to block any noise. The windows also have electric shutters that can be closed & that blocks out alot of light and noise if there is any. There is a delicious buffet breakfast each morning with a fabulous view. We optioned for the half-board so we wouldn't have to go out looking for places to eat every night and the meals were good. There was a salad, then soup, then a main course of fresh fish from the lake cooked in various ways every day, as well as another meat option, and a little dessert. Alcoholic drinks were extra of course. Carina from Lithuania was a wonderful hostess! She makes you feel special & is very attentive to your needs. The staff is quite friendly and we liked everything there so much that we will certainly return.

Great position, in fron of the lake (1 minute walk across the street), staff very very friendly, great breakfast, that you can have on the terrace on a spectacular lake view. Clean and quite big rooms.
The staff provide sea towels, sead beds. A nice surprise, well suggested to everyone!

Just arrived back from this hotel after a week long stay. I have to say I have not read one bad review so I was confident we had made the right choice.

Rooms were clean, roomy, comfortable, great views of the late Thun and surrounding mountains.

Staff were friendly, informative and helpful, the young manager made sure everything was right at breakfast (one day the waitress forgot our boiled eggs, we didn't say anything because she was so lovely and we just laughed it off, but the manager knew and brought them) that to me was fantastic attention to the guests.

On arrival the young lady who greeted us couldn't speak much English but we had a welcome drink and she was very nice and helpful even carried my boyfriends bag up four flights of stairs. We all laughed at the top because we were all knackered!!.

Lovely quiet location (mostly German) but information packs in English in reception and a visitors card which you can use for discounts on certain things and free local train and bus routes.

The only critiscism I would have is that the bar could have been open for a couple of hours at night even if there was no food, (they have a restaurant down the road), and maybe one English speaking TV channel.

All in all a fantastic stay and I would definitely return to this hotel if we were to stay in this part of Switzerland again.

We booked this hotel at the last minute, just few days before going there. Looking at the website, we (mis-)concluded it was an old, kitch hotel. This is a completely wrong impression!!!
The hotel is excellently comfortable, clean, elegant. The view is gorgeous and the location very quiet. The staff is very friendly, helpful and young. Breakfast abundant and rich.
We absolutely recommend this hotel for a charming stay!

This place surprised us - pleasantly. It cost 200 swiss francs, and we had stayed in other places for the same price, but this was by far the best value for money. The design is in the form of a hunter's lodge - charming furniture and layout, hunter influence, without being garish. Great view across the road to the lake and mountains from every room. A gracious young manager, for whom nothing was too much of a problem.

The breakfast was excellent, complete with an Italian sparkling wine and smoked salmon. It's just 14 kms from Interlaken, where we would strongly recommend the Citta Vechia Italian resturant.

A lovely stay.
