I have been using this restaurant for about 20years, have had my wedding anniversary there every year for that time including a very large 25th anniversary party for which I picked up the bill why do I mention that?, because every time I return there is not a flicker of recognition from the proprietor or staff! So do not in my experience expect any treatment other than that of any tourist that enters.
Having said that the staff are very courteous and professional. If you know L'escala you will appreciate that it has a very short season and businesses appear to struggle financially, I don't know if that is the case for this well established restaurant, but I have detected what I would describe as cost cutting in the meals, still nice quality and well cooked, just not quite as good as it was.
The food is spanish/catalan with a seafood bias. There are set menu's in the French style not the 'menu del dia' with additional a la carte choices, the fresh lobster is good value.
The premises themselves are in the marina with lovely views out to sea and sometimes the most outrageous sunsets. They are immaculately maintained.
Cost: we spend about 160 euro's for a table of four with pre dinner drinks and perhaps a couple of bottles of mid range wine.
In summary the location makes it for us coupled with an enourmous amount of nostalgia. Is it worth a visit ? most definitely yes! Oh and it is open in the winter too
