“blame the guests”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

stayed here from 31st october -4th november(hotel then closed) have stayed before so i knew roughly what i was getting, rooms are basic but comfortable,i found the standard and choice of food had improved from my previous stay,i think you would have to be a very fussy eater not to find something tasty! we were disturbed on the second night by girls in the room oposite having an emotional moment, however, hotel security seemed to deal with this when they became aware of it.-another welcome improvement,in the past no hotel staff wouldve bothered,i was concerned about the number of british kids(aged between 8-14?) running amok on the road outside(not a busy road, but used by some fast cars at night) this went on every night for 3-4 hours-not an adult in sight!! they were using guests cars to play football against-this is the fault of the parents-not the hotel.i will go back and hope the improvements made are sustained

stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in october 2012, the hotel could really do with updating as it was very basic and slightly run down in places.thought it was good value with drinks and food although basic and same every day .hotel seems to attract some chav type people but all in all we met some very nice people.this was a basically a 4 day drink and party holiday for a birthday and i dont think i could actually stay any longer or as a main holiday . woudnt recomend this hotel for families.

Room Tip: take a room on the highest floor possible to avoid noise

We were going to stay in another one of these hotels called the planamar in Malgrat De Mar but this closed a few days before we went so we were given a place to stay here.

Arrival
When we arrived we checked into reception and the staff were nice and friendly, spoke good English and informed us of various things we needed to know. We did have to give our passports to the reception when they would give them back the next day. We arrived at lunch time and we were All Inclusive so once we put our cases away in our room we went to the dining room for lunch.

Food
There was certainly lots of food on offer but lunch and dinner had the same food on offer and it was all rather repetitive. Breakfast especially was the pretty much the same every day, sausages not very good, small pieces of bacon, baked beans some days were not cooked but the scrambled egg was nice. There was plenty of toast, cold crossaints, muffins and biscuits. The cereal was the same every day as well they had not very nice spainish version of corn flakes, sugar puffs and coco pops that didn'tn taste of chocolate! There was coco powder though to put on the coco pops.

As we were All Inclusive we could have a drink from the bar in the dining room at lunch and dinner which meant standing in a big queue. The rest of the day we went to the main bar for drinks however some of the staff were not very nice so I just used the coffee machine we could help ourselves to the rest of the week. Most of the people in the bar seemed to spend the day helping themselves to alcholic drinks which were free from the bar.

Rooms
The rooms were very, very basic and there was 4 of us put into 1 room when we payed for 2 the beds were very close together and were uncomfortable. We had a wierd duvet, with 2 sheets which made night times rather cold. The rooms were kept very clean and the cleaning staff were very nice and we asked for blankets to help to keep us warmer at night.

The hotel seemed to have loads of kids running about the place parents were presumably drinking or in the rooms all day which made it rather noisy plus one night was Halloween and we had kids trick or treating at our hotel room!

Location
Caella didn't really have much to do but there was a beach which was very nice and good train links to Barcelona and other towns.

I didn't enjoy the stay the good things were that the staff were nice, good cleanliness and there was plenty of food but the food was very reptitive and I was glad to have something different when I got home, beds uncomfortable, rooms not great, noisy and rude bar staff.

I've just read a review of this place with the title 'Chav central' which mirrors, almost exactly, my experience of this 'hotel'.
I'ld read a few reviews before I had booked. They weren't very favourable, but I didn't think it would be as bad as people were saying.
I must've missed the reviews which said there would be kids full of children. I've never seen so many kids in one place since I was in school. They're everywhere, unsupervised and very noisy.
The dining area is like feeding time at the zoo. It's very busy (a few times we had to wait in a queue just to get in) chaotic. If you get up out of your chair, leaving your table with no one siting there, there's a good chance someone else will be sitting there by the time you get back. It's that busy! The food is very poor quality and repetitive.
There is evening entertainment only for children, which seems to be who the hotel is targeted at.
I had a chance to have lunch at the nearby H Top Calella and H Top Amaika. These are both 4 star hotels and it shows. The Amaika in particular is a giant leap above the Olympic and is where I'ld stay if I ever went back.
If you're over the age of 16, don't stay here!

We were transferred here from Malgrat de Mar after our original hotel decided to close early.

FOOD:

We went as a family with a fussy 10 year old and 1 year old and we had no problem finding something to eat. We stayed for 10 nights and yes it was a little repetitive. There was a great salad bar, fish, veal, hot dogs, pork chops, chips for dinner. Breakfast was a spanish version of a fry up with cereals, croissants, muffins, etc. There was always food, as it was constantly being restocked. Plus the staff were pros as cleaning the tables in seconds for the next lot of customers. For a 3 star there was variety, yes, it wasn't a English food but that's because you're in Spain!!!

CLEANING:

The cleaners were very lovely and friendly, room cleaned every day and towels, sheets too.

Staff were very quick to deal with problems in the evening with people being loud, we knew of a school lot who were turfed out in the middle of the night after repeated warnings over running up and down corridors!!

Staff were friendly and smiled on the whole.

The only down side is the people who stay there, they do not control their children, they are left to run riot. The amount of obese chavs is disgusting, they are clearly making the most of the inclusive food!!

The beds are extremely uncomfortable and the location is hideous. There is nothing to do in Callela and to be fair the hotel is mainly a base for the Spanish to go to, as Callela is where the Spanish live NOT a resort. There were signs everywhere including the hotel, asking that you respect the neighbours and keep the noise down, and silence after midnight. This suited we as we had a young family. However there are NO nightclubs in Callela full stop!!
