“Best option in Calella”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

If you something really good price/quality, with a very nice owner in the center of Calella, try El Pekinaire, a really good choice. The rooms are excelent and the price almost unbelievable. In this money U obtain an incredible breakfast, which you may see only at 3 stars and above. Trust me

Room Tip: Ask for a street view

This was the best surprise we had in Calella, in fact in Spain(Catalonia). Just an amazing little place to walk into, incredible decor, very modern and chic. We were met by Andreas in the most friendly and helpful manner. We had come by train from Barcelona where my wife had had her wallet stolen at the Sants station. Andreas is one of the family owners, who I believe can speak about 4 or 5 languages fluently. So for Aussies who are a bit isolated, there was no issue with the language. He facilitated our report to the local police and help us get acquainted with the town as well as info on the local area and customs.

The place is impeccable. It was a joy to come back to the hotel each night, occasionally have a night cap and always the best cup of coffee. It was such a friendly place and we met a lot of
Our accommodation included breakfast, which was served in a small restaurant room attached to the guest lounge bar and reception. The selection at breakfast was huge and unexpected. We have stayed at places in Europe that just have bread, ham , cheese and pastries in the continental way, but this was an extrangavanza. Served by Andreas, we commenced with a great cup of coffee and juice. Then a selection of eggs etc. Great start to the day.

On our return of an evening we would maybe have a cocktail or cup of coffee on our way to retiring, the place was so conducive to friendliness, that other guests did the same and it became a great big round table of people from all over including Andreas or Bernard behind the bar.

The hotel is pretty close to every thing, a short walk to the beach, a short walk to plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops. the train station is about a kilometre away but a pleasant walk down the mall street with plenty of places to stop on the way or a short taxi ride.

We hope to be able meet again and enjoy the El Pekinaire and the people in it once more.
Thank you Andreas

For once I agree with the reviews about this hotel! This is a gem of a place, hidden in a quiet back street in this big, brash resort and is a little oasis of calm. This is not the sort of holiday resort we would usually pick, but this is certainly one of the best places we have ever stayed in, for the price we paid.
You can tell it has been recently updated and a lot of thought has been put into the decor and furnishings. Our room was beautifully clean, with all you can expect of a much more expensive hotel. With only 18 rooms, the owner and his family were able to give individual service to the guests and were always there with a smile.
Breakfast was everything you would want, from 'full english' to croissants & toast, cold meat & cheese, yoghurts & fruit. Brilliant!
You could not ask for more.
Calella and the surrounding area has a big issue with parking and it is nigh on impossible to find a parking space that isn't metered. The first day we parked in the hospital car park, which is a few minutes walk away, but a kindly meter attendant (!) pointed us in the direction almost opposite the hospital where we could park all day for 2.50 euros. This was the best value place we found. A bit tip is to keep a pocket full of change, as you will need it if you take a car.

A bold title I know, but it is the truth.

We've stayed in many places all over the world and this has to be the cleanest establishment we've ever stayed in. Four and five star hotels need to take a trip to Andreas's little place and see how a proper hotel is run.

Facilities were modern and I thought the place was a new build. Andreas told me he had been there since he was a boy with his parents and he just keeps updrading and modernising.

Breakfast was simple but gorgeous (plenty of choice every day) and once you'd been down to breakfast once they knew exactly what to bring to each of us each morning after that. Even when breakfast was over Andreas asked me would I like a "millky coffee". Weather was so cold and wet, the hot coffee was much needed.

Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was luxurious. We were able to control the heating ourselves which was fabulous. We had the most awful Easter weather in Calella and without this wonderful little B&B I don't think our holiday would have been quite so good. We shall return to Calella another time and will have not hesitation in staying with Andreas and his family.

If you read this Andreas, I'm the lady that lives in north Wales. Thought of you the other day when I passed the sign post for Ruthin. Enjoy your next stay with your friend when you come here. Plenty of rainfall at the moment and the hills are beautiful and green.

Room Tip: I do belive there isn't a bad room in the place! Our room on the main road was great - no noise...

We arrived late following trouble with car hire (another story) to such a friendly welcome from this family business. The hotel is spotlessly clean. All the family are ready to help however they can and remember personal details from day to day. It's just minutes from the wonderful beach and good restaurants. Why stay anywhere else when you can stay here? They can arrange parking if you need it.

Room Tip: The room we had looked over the street, but with double glazing noise outside wasn't a problem

It was my third stay in the Calella and I think it’s a one of the best hotels in that town. The hotel is new, all equipment in room worked perfectly. There was free fast Wi-Fi Internet in room. Breakfast was simple but tasty and a coffee was very good. Rates were more than reasonable.
Hotel situated on a quite street. Well, it’s a little far from beach, but it takes only a five minutes to get there. Hotel is in the new part of town, so it is far enough from railway station therefor there are several supermarkets and inexpensive bars near it.
The stuff is perfect, very helpful and polite and the owner of hotel is a very pleasant person with good sense of humor.
I can say this hotel became my favorite accommodation in Spain and I’ll surely return there.

Room was small, but cozy and ultra clean, carefully furnished. Every room has its own balcony. Balconies facing the street has different coloured decorating glasses (depends on floor), that looks very funny. The hotel located at the quiet street, but just a walking distance away to restaurants, cafes and walking and shopping streets. It is just 5 to 10 minutes walking distance to the beach, depending on how fast do you generally walk.

The staff, and personally the host (he talks English and Deutsch), was very friendly and helpful. Everything was good except some minor issues: 1) pillows were comfortable, but small; 2) at the balcony there were two chairs, but there was no table; and 3) the breakfast was very basic, the coffee was not as strong as it ought to be, the orange juice wasn't 100% natural. Howerer, the pastry was good, WiFi worked OK, towels generally had been changed every day.

Very good price-to-quality ratio in a busy beach town like Calella. Highly recommended for everyone looking for a small, quiet and cozy accomodation not far from the beach.
