“Lovely relaxing stay...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

My family and I came to Cadaques in October in some of the wildest weather imaginable!!!! Hotel Blaumar was comfortable, excellently placed, outside the centre of town (fabulous walks back from the restaurant in the evening...), handy for Dali's house and with a lovely view!
...and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and spoke English well...
N.B. We went for breakfast at the fantastic patisserie close to the sea on the main street in town...

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor have the good views...

We arrived in Cadaques without a reservation in late September, although we did have the names of a few hotels. While looking for the first one on our list we took a wrong turn and saw the sign for the Blaumar. What a lucky wrong turn it was! From the minute we stepped into the lobby and met Arantxa, we knew we had found the place to stay the night. The location is wonderful, a short walk from the restaurants and shops, but not right in the middle of it all. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the pool and sitting area were very comfortable (and although a bit chilly- late September after all- the pool was a big hit with our 4 year old. And of course, Aranxta, who was kind enough to call the train tour company to find out remaining hours. We very much enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the Blaumar.

What more could you want? Friendly staff, spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water and a powerful shower. The hotel is very well located in a quiet part of town but within easy reach of the bars and restaurants of prety Cadaques.

Difficult to fault, though we would have welcomed a vanity mirror in the bedroom!

We spent 4 nights at the Blaumar recently and found it truly delightful. It is in a quiet situation but within easy reach of all the attractions of Cadaques. Our room was spotlessly clean and well furnished with a an excellent bathroom and shower. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the receptionists spoke excellent English. We arrived early after a long drive from England, stopping en route, but they made every effort to have our room available as soon as possible, which it was. We were lucky enough to have Room 304 on the second floor which had a lovely balcony for sitting out and admiring the view over the gardens, the pool, the village and bay. The pool and terrace area was very attractive with many trees. We find it difficult to fault the Blaumar but there are two small suggestions we would make (a) the sunbeds in the pool area would benefit from parasols as there is very little shade in the heat of the afternoon and (b) we are early risers and like to eat outside but although breakfast commenced at 8.30 indoors, we had to wait until 9.30 to eat on the terrace. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety of food provided at breakfast. Cadaques is a truly unspoilt Spanish town and there are no high-rise apartments or hotels so spoil the skyline. There are so many walks around the coastline to find many coves from which to swim. The price that we paid for this hotel was excellent value and we would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this delightful area.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor facing the village provide the best views.

Stayed at the blaumar for four days at the end of August.First may I
Comment on the road into Cadaques!A challenging one and not for the faint
Hearted, especially in the evening ,as that was when we arrived.
The hotel has little to offer ,the pool area ,yes, was very relaxing but did not
Open untill 11am! Why I do not know.Breakfast very poor quality we chose
To go to lovely bakery for coffee and filled rolls ....a third of the cost.We
Paid extra for a balcony which had a good aspect, though the room was clean
but basic and as one other traveller commented the bed was very firm!
In general the hotel was well kept every area spotless but no atmosphere
Whatsoever,a real pity also no food available in bar after breakfast except
For a sandwich and we felt as though they were nt really that interested not even
Menu with fillings ect,I would like to add that Cadaques is well worth a visit
Not a beach holiday but an unspoilt village with great character and lovely people .
The restaurant Miramar was one of the best we ate in and most reasonable.
It is situated beside the Hostal christina, and is definitely worth a visit

The Blaumar is a short stroll up the hill from the main road that loops around the harbor. That vantage point is an asset, giving it open views from the lovely landscaped patio and pool area, a bit more quiet than on the road, and pleasant breezes if you face the harbor/town which most but not all rooms do. The rooms were simple but bright and the place was spotless. Only negatives were no wifi in the rooms, and a very hard mattress which was tough on my crankly lower back and hips. I absolutely loved the setting, though - bougainvillea, an old olive tree, and that wonderful wonderful view of the town. We only did the breakfast on our last morning, instead walking into town for cafe con leche and croissants, in order to save room for all of the tapas we would be eating at midday!

Room Tip: Ask for a view toward town

We booked this hotel based on other Tripadvisor recommendations and were very happy with it. Rooms were simple but sufficient and the pool area is a little sanctuary. The hotel is on the edge of town but it’s only a 10 minute walk to the center along a nice coastal path and it is a quiet neighbourhood. Great value!
