“Absolutely wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

We drove into Cadaques and fell in love. We loved the charming town and hotel blaumar added to this experience. The staff was wonderful, welcoming with great advise on beaches, eateries, things to do etc. Our room over looked a street and had a balcony with a view of the town and a bit of the pool. The pool area & breakfast terrace was wonderful. The housekeeping staff was very efficient. The room and bathroom we a good size, clean, well equipped. The service standard was very good. We highly recommend this hotel.

We chose Hotel Blaumar after reading the previous reviews and particularly for its location in a quite part of the town. We were not disappointed.
The girls on reception were most helpful and our room was very satisfactory. It was of a good size and the bathroom was well appointed and equipped. Everywhere was very clean. The balcony was a little disappointing as it could only just accommodate one chair, but it did provide a view of the pool area and the town and sea beyond.
Although earlier reviewers complained about the cost of the breakfast, we found it to be acceptable. It was of a buffet style with a good choice of cereals, breads and cakes, cheese, hams, yoghurts, jams, fruit, etc., together with good coffee and therefore there was ample food available.
The only downside to our stay was the unreasonable behaviour of one of our neighbouring guests who choose the early hours to not only use the bathroom and flush the toilet four times, but also spent some 20 minutes banging around. Clearly uncaring guests are not the fault of the management, but the poor soundproofing found in many hotels does not help.
Cadaques is a lovely town, particularly on the sea front and in the old part, but less so elsewhere. The walk from the hotel to the town is most enjoyable, particularly on a warm summer evening..However we found the cost of meals to be very high compared with other places we had visited in Spain.
Overall a good choice of hotel.

If you're after simple accommodation which is a cut above the rest, look no further than the Blaumar. The rooms are large, clean and modern, the pool area is dreamy and the short walk into town is the perfect bayside stroll. Breakfast offers lots of options. Wish we could have stayed for longer. A very relaxing place! One of our favourite destinations in Spain.

The service was adequate and the rooms were good. The pool deck was lovely. I would recommend this as an affordable option during a stay in Cadaquez.

When we decided to come to Cadeques, we chose it because it was one place on the Costa Brava that seemed to maintain its original character. So many of the towns present a face covered with the glitter and glitz of Miami. But not Cadeques. Nestled in a mountain valley hugging the sea, it looks picture-postcard perfect with its white-washed buildings, red tile roofs, and indigo blue bay. With so much to see and do in this delightful place, how much time do you spend in your room? Beyond sleeping, not much! So the Blaumar certainly met our needs.

To be honest, we were somewhat disappointed with the place as we lugged our bags up the street to the entrance. (Fortunately, we found a parking spot on the street and saved the garage fee.) Even though we had asked for a room with a balcony, we feared that we would be given one that faced the street with wooden shutters that had to be kept closed for privacy. Fortunately, it was not to be. Our average-sized room featured a 2-chaired balcony that overlooked the pool and deck area. In the distance, we could see the village, the church, and a slice of the sea.

The Blaumar does have its positives: it’s immaculate. It’s simple, but comfortable. Its staff is helpful and friendly. The pool and deck offer an agreeable place to transition from day to night. Free Wi-Fi’s available in public areas. The only drawback: the cost of breakfast. At 9.75 euro per person per day, that’s a bit steep for people who only want a continental breakfast. We overcame this by walking down to the village and joining the locals at a seaside café.

Away from the restaurants, bars and beaches, across the street from a charming, little park, the Blaumar doesn’t hide the fact that it’s a 2-star hotel. As long as that’s its reality, it exceeds expectations.

Room Tip: Book a room with a balcony and a view.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is another run-of-the-mill two star hotel. The rooms are spacious and air-conditioned,and has a good pool which proved to be a godsend in the Sapnish heat! It's about a five minute walk from the centre of Cadaques, which means it's nice and quiet in the evenings. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming too.

We had a wonderful stay in this very charming small hotel in Cadaques. The staff are very extremely friendly and helpful! The rooms are well decorated and clean - we highly recommend the extra few euros for a village view. The garden, pool and patio are beautiful and well maintained. It is a very short walk to the centre of the village with all the restaurants and tourists. We liked the location in a quieter residential area - 2 minute walk from the ocean and close to the nicest beaches.
We thought this was the most beautiful village on the Costa Brava. We would definitely return here and to this hotel!
