Just returned after 2 weeks in Blue Bay Palace. First time we have stayed there although been to Corralejo 14 times! Will definitely be returning! Food was excellent, staff friendly and very helpful.
The room was spacious and very clean. We had a lovely balcony which overlooked the gardens. However the AC never really got going making sleeping difficult. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable leaving us with painful backs. The room had a safe in it but this costs 20 euros per week to use.
You could not fault the standard of cleanliness and all the staff we met were polite and friendly. On arriving we found that there was no hot water to bathe, but within 10 minutes of informing the reception, a maintenance man had fixed the problem.
The variety and standard of breakfast was very good, however the evening meal left a lot to be desired. The choice was poor, and the food was only luke warm.
We found that the bar prices were very expensive. We were surprised to find that we had to pay for bottled water with the evening meals.
The spa facilities were great but were only open from 1600 - 2000 hrs which was disappointing. The evening entertainment was really orientated towards the children and did not entice us to stay long. The hotel provided a free bus service from the hotel directly to the sand dunes. The buses ran twice in the morning and evening and were always on time.
Overall our stay was relaxing and we would recommend the hotel, although the food does need to improve.
Bluebay had been recommended by my brother to me so we decided to give it a try. On arrival we were greated by some very friendly staff. We had a long day and we were all hungry and they sent for plates of meats and cheese to our room which was a nice touch. We had asked for a pool view and the room we had was not exactly that but a nice view of the fantastic gardens. Ok so our first problem was the AC, or lack of it, there was warm air coming in so our first night was a hot sticky uncomfortable one. Next morning I spoke to a girl at reception and she asked me to check the settings which i did but to no avail, so i returned and asked if we could move cause the view wasn't great and she gave us a new room without any problems and with a cracking pool view.
The Room
(family) are perfect with plenty of space and a nice bathroom and safe balcony. They are spotlessy clean.
The pool
The poolarea is very spacious and beautifully landscaped, plenty of beds. There is one deep pool, one shallow pool(great for youngsters) and a paddle pool. Clean towels are provided daily at the pool which opens at nine, no major rushing for beds which is nice for a change but you get the usual odd fool( why people who dont use the pool insist on sitting on the pool edge is beyond me)
The food
This was the biggest worry for us, me being a steak and chips man and my wife a veggie. I am not a lover of buffet food or cavery style but i have to say I was not at all disappointed, I never once left the Dining room hungary.
The breakfast is fantastic, everything you could ask for, fresh omelette's were my fav, but there is really something for everyone and lots of it.
Dinner really followed suit, there's always plenty of variety, tends to be a lot of pork, but also lots of fish, chicken, steak 4 nights of our two weeks. Only complaints i could have would be a little more selection for a veggie altough tere is fresh stir-fry and plenty of salad it becomes a little monotonous. Also the vegtables need to be hotter but its a problem i have come across before all around spain veg served colder than at home.
The dining staff are all very friendly and great with the kids.
The pool bar.
Its got a good selection for lunch, reel nice pizzas, but after the breakie i was nearly too full for lunch. Its a little pricey maybe and there are plenty of nice little bars just up the street (the castle) with good food. Also there is a great little place across the main road and down the ramp just past the netto supermarket.
In all we had a great holiday in the bluebay, its got a very relaxed atmosphere and is very quiet at nightime once the music finishes (11pm). The entertainment is ok, but its not a real fun in the sun type place. Its there if you want it or you can just chill at the bar in its relaxed and very spacious surroundings.
Corralejo itself is pleasant, the usual nik-nak shops, plenty of perfume shops, electronic shops and plenty of good bars and restaurants. The water park is very nearby(15min walk)
I will be back for sure
I cannot say anything bad about my stay in this hotel, because everything was perfect. The cleanness was amazing. I stayed with my boyfriend 11 nights and we didn't want to leave :-) I recommend to hire a car to everyone, which is very cheap and you can travel around all island or even more...
Oh dear reading all the positive reviews only confirms our thoughts things at this hotel are plummeting faster than a stone.
The food was awful and became worse over the two week period.
The location is miles from the nearest DECENT beach although there is a free bus available it was none too reliable.
The service is now at best intermittent and most definitely NOT a 4* standard by any stretch possibly a good 3*
As for the entertainment indescribably appalling people voted with their feet, attendance was at best 20 for one evening in 14!. Enough said.
I would very seriously NOT recommend this hotel under present management even to my worst enemy.
