we stayed here in april 2008. The apartments have all the amenities you expect from a standard apartment block. Rooms were clean but basic. Pay as you go tv was little bit of a pain but we managed fine. Small walk to main road in town and small cove beaches, if you want stretches of long sand get the bus or taxi to the sand dunes outside town! You can get the ferry to lanzarote for the day from the harbour. Brilliant pub across the road from the hotel call the sundowner, brilliant food reasonable prices!! considering the cost we paid it was good value basic accommodation! I would recommend if on a budget and just looking for somewhere to explore from.

After reading the mixed reviews we wondered what we would find, but we needn't have worries.
The apartments are ideally situated at the back of the resort, meaning that they are quiet during the evening with no sounds of bars or noisy holiday makers returning. In fact, even during the day, the double glazing kept out noise from the main road so that it was not a problem.
It is an easy walk down to the beaches, harbour area and main road. We sometimes did it up to three times a day and it takes about 5 minutes.
Our room was shabby but clean and spacious. It was cleaned three times during the week and sheets and towels changed 4 times. It was well equipped for holiday cooking with a toaster and kettle provided.
The rooms surround the pool and all of the balconies get the sun for half the day. We had it from about 2 onwards, which made it ideal for evening drinks before we went out. Was a bit disappointing not to be able to have breakfast on it, but it was not a problem.
You can get sun all day round by the pool but you have to switch sides, again, not a problem.
We found the reception staff very friendly and helpful as was the Thomson/First Choice Rep.
The local beaches are nice, sun beds are pricey at 9e a day for two but the cost was the same everywhere.
We took the bus to a few local villages and to see the dunes, which are just down the road. Be warned it is very windy on the dunes, we were intending to stay for the day but decided to head back to the local beach, which was more sheltered.
For a weeks relaxing break in Spring this was ideal, two weeks might have found us looking for more things to do. or needing a car.
The resort centre had plenty of shops and restaurants. The food is about the same price as here, but that is the same all over Europe at the moment.
Would recommend El Pescador restaurant, because of friendly welcoming service and good standard of food.

I arrived at this hotel together with 30 other people at about 21.30hrs. There was only 1 person on reception and after spending in excess of 30 minutes signing forms we were eventally allocated a room. No assistance from the hotel staff so I had to haul 2 cases up 2 flights of stairs. The room was spacious and was clean upon our arrival. I soon became aware that the room was close to the main road. On getting up at 4am to the sound of the local delivery men and waste collection men I opened the curtains and realised that we were overlooking the main road in Corralejo. On opening the curtains the local residents and the local office workers could look strainght into the bedroom. Not what I call private. Throughout the holiday the curtains were kept closed. There was a balcony to the front but this over looked the main road. The thought of going on holiday to have a drink after a day at the beach, and spend that time overlooking the main highway was not what I call a holiday. There was a balcony to the rear which was overlooked by 3 other families and we did infact have a few nights talking to each other. Again not private. This hotel cannot be described as more than a 2 star and if you are after a cheap holiday with the curtains drawn and a small pool then this place is ideal. I would never go back there again.

My family took over two rooms and had a great fortnight at the Fiesta Corralejo Gardens; we can’t fault it for the money - in fact we’d probably find it hard to fault it for several quid more.

The staff were very helpful and were able to accommodate all of our pre-arrival wishes.

The apartments were well appointed with Kettle, Toaster, Decent Fridge, Good choice of cooking utensils and equipment, four-seater dining table, nice balcony with pool view – the apartments surround a centre pool so some apartments get sun and some don’t.

The cleaners come in approximately every other day, keep the place very clean, change the towels if required and change the sheets at least once a week. The towels and Sheets themselves were clean and crisp.

There is a coin operated telly, which has some English channels: Sky Movies Family, Sky sports 2, Eurosport, Zone Horror and CNN – but I generally put the telly on for background noise rather than entertainment, so it did it’s job when called upon.

There’s a small kids play area that keeps the little ones occupied and gets them (and the adults) chatting, the pool runs through the centre of the complex and there’s sun somewhere around it pretty much all of the day.

I’ve read some concerns about the location, but the walk to main strip, old town and harbour area takes less than 5 min’s even with a buggy; it’s also closer to a very child friendly beach with softer sand than the main beach, so personally again, we couldn’t fault it. On the coach pick up we see a few “more central” apartments and to be honest I preferred where we was.

So basically, it’s a great base for a cheap and cheerful holiday whether you like to self-cater or just want a decent sized room to sleep in.

Finally, If you like a cooked breakfast or a welcoming family run small pub, you’ll be hard pushed to beat The Sundowner just across the street. The breakfasts are sublime and Barb, Stan and Jo who run the place are lovely kind people who will do anything they can to make your stay even more enjoyable.

If you stay here or not, I hope this helps and have a great stay in Fuerteventura.

It was basic but that is what we paid for. As we didn't go there to spend our time sat in the appartment it worked for us. The cleaners were slightly hit and miss but when they did come they did a good job. The appartments are tired, in need of refurb and paint but nevertheless clean and functional. Happy Hour in the bar from 7-8pm was bogof and a good way to start the night off. The Sundowner Pub across the road gave us a bolt hole to go to. Good company, good food, fab people and well priced drinks. The breakfast there is great and will set you up for the day. The resort itself is beautiful. Turn left out of the main entrance and just walk, past the nature reserve, on the promenade to the harbour and into the town. Also took the number 6 bus to the beach/dunes. 1 euro 15 cents each and the most spectacular views. We just found it an ideal spot to go walking and enjoying the sights across to Lanzarote and Los Lobos.

  • Liked — Distance to the harbour and town
  • Disliked — No terrace to lie in
