I've just comeback and thought I would share my thoughts. On the plus side the rooms and the pool areas are kept clean, although by the pool bar it smells of sewage and we found ourselves walking around the other way.

There is no air con and you have to pay to hire fans, the room that we were finally allocated the door handle to the patio was hanging off, none of the windows locked properly and the sofa bed/sofa arm was also hanging off. I filled out a card, but I'm sure it will still be the same for the next guests. Supermarket next door really expensive.

Nice for young families due to the entertainment, but not worth the Thomson rating given.

went to oasis papagayo for 11 nights on the 20th june09.Had read so many bad reviews was worried that we had booked the wrong holiday. Went with a big group of us 12 in total 6 adults 6 kids aged 1-7. We went all inclusive. Would just like any one who is going to oasis papagayo to not pay any attention to the bad reviews, i really do not understand were these people went. To start the complex is beautiful,( very big) but beautiful, and well looked after. The appartments are a very nice size and have every thing you need in them. I do recomend you spend the money on a fan as the rooms are very hot, unless you are jammy like my friends and get one down stairs in the shade lol!!!!!!! there are 5 lovely pools 3 salt water 2 normal, we went in all of them but spent most of are time in the normal pools as the salt water stung the childrens eyes, Was really worried about the food as it got REALLY BAD reviews . Again i dont no what people expect it was nice some nights better than others but there was always a big selection, so allways some thing to eat, some nights we had lovely meals, breakfast was the best out of all three, massive selection. There was always somthing for every one, so i would really not worry! The reps were lovely, hi to sunny, sarah tiny tash and nutty nat. oh yeah and thompson the dog, my kids loved them all. Walked into town several nights lovely views all the way there took so many photos (BEAUTIFUL), had a lovely meal at the steak house, highley recomended. Food , views and staff lovey. Went to flag beach the most beautiful beach i have ever seen, walked up to the sand dunes, amazing. If you have little ones there are a few people up there who like to be at one with nature, so just be aware , but defintley worth a look. It can be quite rough some days, brilliant for riding in on the waves, not so great for little ones. A nice beach for the little ones is wikiki or the harbour beach, small but shallow and calm. I think any one who comes here for a holiday will have a fab time, i really could not fault my holiday i just think some people like to moan. I give in 10/10 Would defintley go again.

Stayed at Oasis Papagayo for 11 nights. There were 3 couples and 6 children(1-7 yrs) in our group.
Overall we all had a fantastic holiday. The complex was beautiful, the food was quite nice, nightly entertainment brilliant for the kids and adults aswell if u join in.
THE ROOMS: - good size, no bugs etc, cleaned regular, very hot unless in the shade like mine was :-) 105b
THE POOLS: - 3 salt and 2 non-salt. lovely tempreture, and considering the intense heat who wants a pool as warm as a bath!
THE FOOD: - we were all-inclusive. the food was nice enough, as you would expect from 3star plus. no complaints.
THE REPS: - lovely, brilliant with the kids. loved sunny sarah, nutty nat and tiny tash, altho all were nice.
THE STAFF:- works long hours. the bar staff were lovely, the reception staff could have been happier but I dont go on holiday to chat all day to the receptionist.

We frequently walked down to the harbour which was lovely. The views on the way were gorgeous and it only took us 10 minutes to get to the top of the main strip. The gift shops were nice, and the people pleasent.
We ate at the Steak House on the harbour one night. The food was lovely and we sat overlookin the harbour watching the sun go down. For 15e we got a 3 coarse meal and a drink, plus they supplied complimentry drinks at the end of the meal. All our group really enjoyed it.
Flag beach is a must. One of the best beaches I have ever seen.

Had a lovely holiday. The place is gorgeous, no high-rises and perfect for families. For those who complain, i suggest diggin deeper in your wallet and pay for a 5star complex, or learn to have fun. ENJOY xxxxxxx

...just got back from Oasis Papagayo - I'm not going to whinge and moan because at the end of the day my partner and I and our 2 kids have had a lovely 2 week holiday with beautiful weather (40's every day!!). I just want to make people considering booking aware of a few points: Hotel complex quite clean and rooms spacious. Maid service we could of actually done without as it was poor and towels just dumped in apartment for us to sort. Poor security on the windows, which we noted on day one and were unfortunatley proved right as by day 13 we had been broken into and items worth £600 taken. There was many a story from families of theft so be aware!!! Correlejo itself (after the long walk through 3 car parks - about 25 minute walk) is like a town that time has forgot - no beautiful views of the sea whilst eating except at Waikiki Beach. Locals unfriendly, felt like we were being ripped off all the while, lots of empty shops that have closed down, too many chinese restaurants and bucket and spade shops. Struggled to find nice restaurants. Can only recommend a handful - Waikiki Beach, Pirates, Torro Bravo steak restaurant and Tiffany's (just down the road from Oasis Papgayo) for breakfast, baguettes and evening meals. We spoke to alot of people that live out there and they confirmed how much crime and corruption was on the island - such a shame as it will end up killing what little tourist trade they have. On the postive kidzone reps were magic and very friendly but the hotel reception staff, everything was too much trouble!! We wouldnt go back to this hotel or correlejo itself. Make youre own decision after reading this review
