“Basic All Inclusive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Just returned from the Oasis Papagayo after a weeks holiday, we arrived around 10.30pm and we were told that the restaurant was open for another 20 mins so if we wanted anything to eat then we could, which was nice. We did go but there was very little left to eat, once leaving the restaurant we did find out that we could not get a drink because the all inclusive stopped at 11pm and there was no exceptions for all inclusive customers. If you wanted to have a drink after 11pm them you would have to pay, on that note i did during the week pay for a vodka and lemonade and it cost three euros and seventy five cents which is about £2.80. The service at the bar was very slow and you had to join the que which could have taken approx 10-15 mins to get served. If you wanted to order a few drinks so that you didnt want to que again you are only allowed to order four and no more. The food was average and if your a fussy eater then you may struggle, the rooms are very nie and the maid came 3 out of the 7 days that we were there. There is free wifi at the reception area but the connection is dodgy and you only allowed to connect to it a maximum of 5 times. There is also a internet area where you will get 10 mins for 1 euro. The beach is about 35 mins walk from the appartments which is really nice and the harbour is about 15 mins walk away in the opposite direction. All in all the complex was full of French who were the most rude and arrogent people that you may meet. All the entertainment is in French as Thompson did pull away from it this year and now the French ave it unfortunateley. The weather was up and down cloudy in the morning til 1pm then the sun would come til 5, all togethger it was a nice appartment with lots of annoying French, i would go back to Fuertevenetua but probably try some where else.

Room Tip: Dont change your money at the reception also there is a nice restaurant in the hotel as well which i...

Rooms - very good but air con/ heating would be good. Careful with hot water as limited in boiler in each apartment.  Kettle and toaster provided with decent type cups is a big bonus and English tea sold in shop next door. Rooms cleaned to a good standard and clean towels every other day. You need your own pool towel though as you can't take theirs without charge. Extra towels can be rented though. Safe is chargeable at 15 + 10 deposit but a good safe which enter your own pin. Telly is chargeable 4 euros I think it said per day.  Bathrooms are very spacious and so is the rest of the apartment.
Actually 3 keys not 4 but it is very possible to get to a 4 if they put a bit more effort into it. The manager very nice man always smiling and helpful. Reps always around ready to entertain you in the day. We are out of season so some of this may be due to that. Evening entertainment a bit hit and miss with some shows not bad but others we left during it or entertained ourselves. Bar area nice and clean and drinks are the usual local drinks included in all inclusive but you can buy other for a reasonable price. Pool tables are 2€  upstairs but their is a bowling alley in the complex not joined which has a bar and live sport on a big screen. Bowling is 5€ an adult and they do buy 2 get one free. They have other games there also pool is 1€ a game but all inclusive is not available but drink prices are also not bad. 2.70€ a pint and wine 3.10€. Smoking is not permitted in the bar area as its inside. Pools are not heated in any of the areas and so out of season no one was really in them.
Bar by pool again ok and bar food for all inclusive available from one to help yourself. There is a jacuzzi which is slightly warmer so you can stay in it for a while but also not as hot as we would expect.
The reception staff are very helpful and kind. The computers in the building are ok if you need to check anything online 1€ for 10 mins.
It does get cold at night in the club areas as there is no heating.
The restaurants are clean and what you expect from all inclusive. Buffet help yourself. Wine on tap is not good but beer ok and soft drinks available. Food was not brilliant at the beginning of the week as there was not alot of us here but got better as the week went on. They could do with more detailed food labels for what's being served but the food is edable and better in the a la carte restaurant although not a la carte really just a better grade of cooking but less choice. Set menus set for the week and you have to book a table. It can get cold in there as some of it is open air tables which over look the pool area which in summer I'm sure is great. The beach is a fair walk away about 15 mins around a few windy streets which you will need a map to navigate to past the building sites of hotels being built which doesn't affect your stay here.  During summer though you are prime located next to the water park and other fun centres like mini golf wall climbing and kids fun parks etc.. Main street is just past them from the hotel and you can walk down it to old street and the harbour in about an hour if you dont stop at all the shops on the way. The apartments for self catering are very good but the all inclusive to pay when you get here is not worth it at 27€ a day per person. You can get some really good deals for food and drink down main street an also on the beach. There is also some artists who create things in the sand down near the harbour and they are very good at what they do. Some health and safety  due for consideration like a metal pole sticking out for the ground near the path and hose pipes they use for irrigation showing around. Although they could only be an issue if you are very drunk and wander into the flower bed areas. There are a few cats around but seem to be resident and don't really bother anyone. The complex itself is very big and could be a 4 star plus rating if they worked out some of the small issues and paid attention to detail. But they fall I to the trap of comfort zone and profitability so once your here and all inclusive they aren't really interested in making sure your stay is fantastic.

Recently stayed in this hotel as an All Inclusive guest - rooms are clean and spacious although a little bit on the tired side. Complex is huge - if you have a room down the back of the hotel then it is a bit of a walk.

Hotel was not full when we went - lots of free sunbeds and not much queueing for the bar or dinner. Until the last day when a large influx of guests arrived and suddenly it seemed the staff couldnt cope and ran out of plates, glasses and food in the reasturant.

Food was not bad - even our fussy 16 year old daughter ate something at every meal.

Didnt have much to do with the entertainment but agree with the other reviews - primarily aimed at French audience so if you have young children and want to watch the entertainment you would probably not be happy.

Walk into town is about 10 minutes or 3 euros for a taxi.

Overall - pleasantly surprised. Just dont expect a 5 star hotel and you will be fine.

Room Tip: Dont have a room on the ground floor - can hear the noise from people moving in the room above.

The apartments here are rather tired and could do with a coat of paint., but were clean enough. It is a very large complex and children can easily get lost. We were all inclusive and the food and drinks were fine although the dining room is understaffed and you often have to wait for cutlery or clean plates. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Overall, good value for money, although a bit of a walk into town.

Room Tip: There are six pools but only one is heated, ask for a room near the heated pool if traveling early i...

The complex is lovely and clean and the selection of pools good but bloomimg cold!!! nice jacuzzi though!
Rooms are big and the furniture quite antique but i liked that, only downfall was it is heavy and if you get a ground floor room you are kept awake by contuinuous movement from the room above ( we had a family that had put all their kids in one room and it was really noisy as no adult was in the room to control them at night!)
Rooms were cleaned 5 days a week but bedding only once during our 10 night stay and we had to ask for clean towels and toilet roll on a few occasions.
Food is beautifully cooked and plenty of selection although a bit repetitive but you expect that when you go all inclusive, once again staff were slow to clean tables and one in particular was quite rude i dont think he liked english people.
The resort was mainly french and all the entertainment was spoken in french so the bar area at night was quite amusing as we hadnt a clue what was going off! even the kids part was a bizarre selection of a giant connect 4 game and some mismatch music with no organisation. must admit we found it really amusing especially when the french dancing beagan and it was like a mad dash to the dance floor (some strange moves!!)
As a hotel it was lovely even though it was really aimed at the french i did try to join in the yoga and aerobics but all instructions were in french and spanish and the guy just kept looking at me saying ok? i felt a bit awkward.
If you are happy to make your own entertainment then this hotel is a perfect base, it is 15 mins to the town and the harbour and old town is well worth a visit, lots of atmosphere at night. Oasis park is lovely and there is a free bus from the hotel (it does take nearly 2 hrs to get there with pick ups although it is sold as 1hr 20 mins) A lovely day out. The baku waterpark is a rip off. it had just opened and was 24e / 19e kids. half of it was shut, the slides were height restricted but we were not told that when we went in although we did ask so it was a disappointment if you have small children. When you get in you have to pay for lockers 5e / rubber rings 5e and each "activity" is chargeable. There arent many slides so dont be deceived by the photos you see it isnt really what it says it is!
All in all the holiday was good and the hotel is what you make it, if its a kids club type holiday you want then dont go there but if its just a base for a beautiful island then go for it but take a jumper that wind is wild at times!

Room Tip: go for an upper floor room if you dont want to be kept up all night with scraping furniture! and tak...

We went 2 years ago for a week with our son who was nearly 2 at the time, we loved it that much we booked up again for this year, with our son who is now nearly 4, our daughter who is 14 months and my parents, for 2 weeks this time. What a difference 2 years makes!!! Rooms still spacious and clean, hotel grounds, relatively clean, food on All Inclusive package ok and edible, with lots of choice in the mornings and evenings, but the same menu daily at lunchtimes around the pool area, not a problem though as you probably only need a snack after filling up with breakfast.
Now to the entertainment!!!!!!!, the animation is run by a French team, who are also the holiday reps for a French holiday company, and throughout the day and evening the language spoke to the guests is 99% in French, arriving on our first night we went to the club bar only to walk back out as it was completely spoken in French, after complain to our rep the next day she said this had been mentioned before by other guests and was apparently going to get sort, it wasnt! On other occasions the spoke their introduction of shows in French first for about 5 minutes, with little jokes and getting the French crowd involved, then spoke for about 30 seconds in English, we didnt know what their joke were and you felt excluded from day 1, making it very difficult to get involved in anything from then on. The daytime entertainment programme sheet is in French so you dont actually know what is going on unless you happen to catch a little bit of the English translation the say over the microphone around the pool. There were many nationalities there, but mostly French, and they almost ridiculed the other nationalities nightly by asking the guests to cheer when they mentioned their country, then kept going backwards and forwards to shouting out France!!! Also there is not much for children under 4 as the miniclub starts at that age, 2 years ago it was any age from 6 months upwards, so my son was bored, he didnt want to go to the pool anymore and we almost had to drag him there. We did receive 350 euros for lack of enjoyment from our holiday company, but this was split between all of us and to be honest it no where near covered the cost of all the trips outside the hotel we had to make to regain our sanity.
If you like to go out and about all the time, and only use the hotel as somewhere to sleep or dont mind hearing everything in French then this is an ok hotel to visit, but if, as we did, expect to spend the majority of your time around the hotel as it was on an All Inclusive basis, then I would advise you to avoid at all costs. Aparently the Atlantis Suites was excellent, I wish we had paid that bit more and gone there.

Room Tip: Rooms away from club bar, not around pool area, its quieter as the sound really travels from the en...

Myself and my family and friends stayed here in september last year 2011. We were originally staying at the Alisios Player and Thomson moved here. The sfaff sent us to the wrong place for our room. When we finally found our room, there were police there sorting out a couples room who had been burgled, and they were not the only couple who had there rooms broke into whilst we were there. The shower curtain was hanging off the wall, there were ants and other creepy crawlies in the room, in the cups the sugar pot, and the bath. It was also a very long way from the main part of Corralejo. We had a 2year old and a 3year old with us and it was a long walk. We did complain but our holiday rep was useless. Wouldn't stay here again!
