Myself and my girlfriend are a young couple and were looking for a early sunshine break (3rd week May 2007)that was relaxing, but also lively both day and night without the large groups of lads or girls.
This resort (Correlijo) and the hotel were perfect and i would go as far as saying that over all this was the best sunshine holiday i have ever been on. The resort is not just clean, you can see that the local people have taken a lot of care and time when designing the layout. The roads and footpaths are designed to look classy and are lined with old fashioned designed lamposts, and hotels seem to have been designed to fit in with the surroundings. The beaches are the best i have seen especially the flag beach out in the natural dunes, the sand is blown over from the Sahara. The only problem is as usual the brits spoil them by leaving fag dimps in the sand and since there is a perminent wind(fuerteventura means strong wind in English) you end up with sand all over after applying sun cream. However the Royal has a small pool which is quiet as only adults seem to use it as famiilies use the splendid pools at the Dunas. We mainly went over to the Dunas during the day(you have use of their facilities), if you did not know you would think it was 5 star with the large numerous beautifully designed pools and bar area.
For those who like to keep busy and get about there are many excursions, a day trip to Lanzerote, quad biking up the mountains and volcano, dolphin trips, evening sunset cruises, the list goes on.
Most restaurents offer the same foods and i must admit no where stood out to me a being great value, i was slightly disappointed. However there are a few seafront and beach restaurents that offer great views and very pleasent enviroments for an unforgetable evening. There is a large selection of bars both quiet and lively down the main strip, i found it quite unique as lots were full of both families and young couples enjoying themselves.
The only negatives were that although in the end we had mostly good weather during our week, there were lots of cloudy periods and a night of heavy rain. It seems that the constant wind makes for unpredictable weather, but when the sun is out the wind is a god send but be careful not to get caught out sun burn wise. Also the mosquitos are everywhere at night so an essential purchase when you arrive is a good spray to kill them. I tried repellent and was still covered, but spraying the room before bed and when you get up in the night did the trick and i was then rarely bitten. It was hot at night in the rooms though chilly out so in July/August i imagine that air con would be good.
Overall a great resort and hotel, if you get the right weather and control the mossi's you'll love it, a definate for families and young.
Just a final point some have commented on the staff, i found them very pleasent, helpful and polite

Just came back from a brilliant holiday in Correlejo staying at the Oasis Royal. Everything was fantastic. Lovely spacious, clean appartments. great location 5min walk to restaurants and beach, unless you walk to Flag beach a definate must (If not able to walk go by bus or taxi) not to be missed, we were there only a week and walked there 3 times, took between 40mins and an hour, depending on where we stopped, Loved flag beach.
Food in resort wasn't as good as we exspected from other reviews, but everyone has different tastes, I used to make packup for beach during day and eat out at night, best food was Indian Taj Mahal. Weather was brilliant for us, people who had gone the week before us had very cloudy, windy weather, from the day we arrived Sunday 1st April it cleared up, there was very little wind when we were there. It was very cold at night though, I needed long trousers and cardi, light jacket after 8pm.
It was a fantastic brek and will definately be going back.
P.S The appartments will be too warm in summer as no air conditioning they were warm during easter.
I will post some pictures when i get them loaded on the computer.

“Great quiet week away”

Myself and my husband are just back from a lovely weeks holidays, we came home relaxed, tanned and happy. The apartment was clean and comfortable, cleaned every day (except Fridays) No noise through the walls and a large balcony, although the balcony offered no shade or privacy. The decor was basic but nice, however you will need to pay extra for TV, microwave, safe etc. But it is worth noting, we stayed in Apt 314 and were warned by a lovely girl working in the pool bar that young lads have been known to sit on the walls outside our building watching people leave, they then rob these apartments. So It might be worth getting a safe if you do have anything valuable. The pools are nice and you have a choice of the apartments ones or those at the main building. The hotel is situated at the end of the main road so it is only a short stroll to all the shops and restaurants while still being quiet. There is not a lot of choice here though. Most of the shops sell the usual tourist tat; towels, t-shirts, boxes with shells stuck on them (who buys them !?) There are a few boutiques with nice jewellery, crystals, and some clothes (although only if you are a size 8 !!) We had looked in most of the shops by the 2nd night too !

The restaurants all sell the same food but it seems to be all of a high quality and very cheap. About €20 per person for a three course meal (not including drinks) We can particularly recommend the Steakhouse in the plaza and the Waikiki Beach club for steaks ! The latter also has probably the best nightclub in the resort attached to it. The bars are mostly all awful English Pubs showing sports, but there is ok music in the Rock Cafe after 9pm every night, not really a "rock” café but comfortable and convenient to the hotel !

We avoided the small beach next to the harbour after I discovered a fluorescent pink condom wrapping itself around my big toe. We found the surf very dirty with litter and there was broken glass in the sand too. So it was the pools for us, we were far too lazy to make the 20-minute walk to the big surfers beach outside the town. Its the kind of place were you need a car, especially if the weather is bad. If it rains as it did one day, there is nothing to do AT ALL !!
But the weather was heavenly most of the time, hot and with a cooling breeze floating over you all the time, very pleasant. Though make sure you slap on the sun screen coz that wind can burn !

Overall its a nice a place, if a little touristy. Don’t know if we would go back as unless you’re interested in water sports, there is nothing to differ Fuertoventura from any other Spanish resort. I think I would prefer somewhere with a little more to do. But I certainly don't regret going there. We spent the week sleeping, swimming, eating and sun bathing - nothing else - Bliss !

My finacee & I stayed at the Oasis Royal at the end of feb/early May '07. Looking at the apartment photos before traveling I was sceptical the apartments would be of the same standard in real life but they were every bit as good! If your familiar with what 2/3 star accomodation in canarian resorts is like you wont be dissapointed.
Towels are changed every 2 days, apts cleaned regularly, great safe in each apt hired for 10E. Very clean & surprisingly modern.
The location in relation to Corallejo is great, its right in front of the water park and just off the main strip at the top quiet end, so its away from any noise & when walking into town at night you get to walk all the way down. There are loads of complexes which are so much further away, isolated from the shops, beaches or places to eat, this gets the best of both worlds.
Ideal in every way & a really relaxing holiday.

I just have to say what a beautiful place corralejo is! Fabulous beaches, lovely weather, friendly people and lots to do! The apartments are lovely - spotless and ours were cleaned every day bar friday. Fresh towels and sheets everyday too - which i've never had before when staying in an apartment. They are ideally located - its just a short walk to the shops and restaurants. And if you hire a bike (only 7 a day) its a ten minute cycle to the big beach - i would highly recommend doing this as the main beach is fantastic. White sand, azure water and the waves are great fun! Also when it's breezy you can watch the kite surfers doing their thing! The restaurants along the marina were fab - gorgeous food and such a beautiful setting. The only warning i'll give is if possible bring a mosquito net or one of the plug in repellents (spray on ones not good) as i did find it quite hard to sleep with them buzzing in my ears at night. And bring some warm clothes for the evening (jeans and a cardy would be plenty) as it can get cooler at night, and the breeze brings down the temp a bit 2. Highly recommend the place, would go back in a heartbeat!!
