Returned from a week at the Olivia Beach recently and my wife and I along with our 5 year old son had a great time. Transfer from airport was 40 mins max, it is the first drop off on the way to Corralejo and hence the last to be picked up. The hotel itself is situated on a fantastic beach with very little surrounding it except sand. It takes 45 mins to walk into town, 1 euro on bus (every 30mins) and 6/7 Euros in taxi. The hotel was excellent, reception staff very friendly and professional, all who were english speaking. The hotel is split into two, the hotel itself and the annex which is 100yards from main hotel. We were in the annex in a standard room, very clean, seperate bedroom and living area with balcony front and back and a modern clean bathroom with bath and shower. Both main pools where good, the annex mainly had families in it with this pool being more child friendly, the pools are not heated ( my son and i were ok, too cold for wife tho). Food was excellent all freshly prepared with plenty of variety and in a buffet style. Kids club is run every day 10am - 1pm and 3pm-6pm, the club mainly had young kids in it up to about 8y, they did lots of activities, took them on trips and provided a good service, "so I was told by parents whos child would actually go!". Later on in our stay they started a older kids club for teenagers. The hotel guests were 75% german 15% UK, 10% other. There was always something going on with the entertainment team who worked hard were very friendly and overall did a great job, but there was no pressure to participate in any of the events. eg waterpolo/volleyball/darts/bingo/air-rifle shoot and a few others. Entertainment at night, lets just say it was slightly cheesy, couple of acts brought in, not the greatest - average. Downsides - bloody towels on the sunloungers by 0800, you could always get a space somewhere but it was annoying seeing guests turn up at 2pm to take their place at the prime sites for the first time, but ho hum. It was starting to get busier and I can forsee a few more queues. Beach was great but windy, its not the hotels and there is a hire for loungers and parasols. We went to Baku waterpark and had a good time, take your own food and drink as it was expensive on site, cost 53.50 euros for family from holiday rep and that got us 2 sunbeds when there. They cost 3 euros each and you can hire rings for 3 as well, so it can add up. The town is nice, make sure you get to the harbour. The hotel and complex was well run, clean, with a great location. The staff were friendly and professional, overall we had a great relaxing holiday we would have no hesitation booking again or recommending the hotel.

RIU Oliva Beach is excellent. I visit the resort at Christmas time1999. (Can't select this year in the form.)

I wanted a relaxing sunshine holiday and my travel agent recommend this resort. I had never been to Fuerteventura before and booked with excitement. What a great surprise I got when I arrived!

The place was lovely, the food was great and the staff and service was excellent. As soon as I arrived a member of staff hurry over to me, sort out my luggage while I was given a nice cold drink as I waited to check in (5 mins). The good service continue through my holiday. Staff make attention to solo travellers and mixed nationalities in the restaurants, if we want company.

Nice apartment in top floor, clean and well equipped. Huge balcony with view to the beautiful garden, mainhotel and the sand dunes. The pool was clean and had plenty of room. Heated in winter. The restaurants were unbelievable. I had half board (breakfast and dinner buffet). They caterered to every nationality.

I would certainly go back to the hotel without any hesitation.

Well we have just returned from a week at Riu Oliva what a disappointment we are Riu converts enjoying several visits to Riu resorts in the past but this one just does not come up to the standard we have come to expect, first impression was great reception , room allocation very good .then came the rude awakening ,Sunday breakfast no problems the at 9.00am tried to get a sun lounger and sit by the pool walked around and around eventually found two quite some way from the pool next to the sewer pumping system with no parasols which was a promlem because we are both fair skinned and need a bit of shade so after lunch looked again still none vacant plenty will towels but not occupied so gave up and spent afternoon inside the next day and following days played it the German way up by 06.30, towels in position by 06.45 I have always tried to abide by the rules which Riu usually apply but not here due to the amount of other europeans, Germans this resort is run for them food ,TV ,entertainment, drink and sun loungers if you think you the English are part of the EU think again we are nothing like them thank god I have got manners and humilaty .This was not a good Riu experience .My last comment is late checkout, forget it ! tried to book it several weeks prior to arrival being a Riu class member no chance had to spend all day around pool then use courtisey room what a joke it was a disgrace, dirty, no towels wet floors nowhere to put clothes. no hair drier for women when I complained to reception take it or leave it I had checked out so that was it , This is not Riu standard needless to say we will not return to this one .Sorry Riu this is not good enough you might be a victim of your own success.

We booked this hotel through Thomas Cook. I had been to a RIU hotel in Gran Canaria and was very impressed and so looked for another RIU this holiday. Was very impressed. The holiday is all inclusive, which provided us with a wondeful selection of activities and food. The entertainment staff were very attentive and worked very hard. Would recommend this to anyone. Lovely beach setting! Well worth the money, excellent value! Go go go!!!

We've just returned from a week long stay at the Oliva Beach. The hotel is pretty isolated, but located on a stunning beach with sand stretching as far as the eye can see.

For us travelling as a couple, we felt the hotel was more geared towards people with young children or older travellers, and the majority of our fellow guests were German. During the day the pool areas got a bit noisy for us so we spent our days on the beach which was a much quieter and relaxing option (sunbeds and parasols cost 3 euros each). The hotel and grounds were spotless and our room in the annexe was spacious and clean, if a little dated decor-wise.

The nearby town of Correlejo is only a short bus ride away (bus stops outside hotel and is 1 euro each way) and is worth a look, there are lots of restaurants along the sea front.

As with other reviews on this site, we have to say that the big downside for this hotel is the evening entertainment - which is pretty woeful! There is a nightly themed 'show' which seemed to just be the entertainment staff doing dance routines. We therefore gave this a wide bearth! The only live singing came from a duo in one of the bars on one evening. On some of the evenings there wasn't even a CD playing in the bar. Given that the hotel is so isolated, we felt more effort could have been made in the evenings, so a trip into nearby Correlejo may be a better option for some bars and live music.

Overall, we felt that this was a decent 3 star all-inclusive. Food wasn't fantastic, but was fine for the price, with plenty of choice, and drinks and ice cream are available all day at the pool bars.
