“Wished We had stayed longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful hotel, lovely hospitality spectacular location. We stayed there for one night only but wished we had been able to stay longer., we live on the island and had forgotten just how amazingly stunning the village of Valldemossa is. We had dinner in the hotel and tried the wonderful desgustacion menu. It was enough to rival many Michelin restaurants. I would highly recommend this for anyone in the need of rest & relaxation.

This hotel is in the most wonderful location in the mountains and eating breakfast in the morning you gaze over beautiful views back towards Palma in the far distance and in the evenings eating in the restaurant on the other side of the hotel we looked up towards the pretty village of Valdemossa which was stunningly floodlit. We came here for our 10th wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful stay ... The staff, in particular the delightful lady manager, could not have been more welcoming or helpful ... And thank you for the celebratory bottle of Cava!

We have such happy memories of being by the lovely pool and picking fresh figs on the way back up the stone steps to our room. Our room was really beautiful and spacious, with lovely views with a great terrace with a stone sofa built in to the wall and chairs, table and sun loungers. This is a special place.

A very comfortable hotel in a breathtaking location facing the village of Valldemossa surrounded by the mountains of Serra de Tramuntana. The most beautiful lanscape in the island of Mallorca I believe. A very friendly staff made our stay a lovely experience. The restaurant serves good quality food in a very relaxing atmosphere and a good selection of wines.
It is important booking a room with a view to the village and La Cartoixa.
The parking place is somehow uncomfortable, a bit far with stairs to reach the reception. The service between could be clearly improved by a porter.
I believe the best luxury accommodation in Valldemossa.

Room Tip: It is advisable booking a room with a view to the village and La Cartoixa.

The hotel name is the same like town name. It's not big hotel, has about 10 rooms, so you have privacy. Building is made from stones. All rooms are cleam and spacious, furnitured with antiques and local artwork. Unfortunately rooms are expensive, double costs about 400 euros.

We came to Valldemossa to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. In 25 years, I've never seen my husband so happy with a vacation destination and accommodations.

The hotel is nestled in the Sierra de Tramontana mountains with stunning 360 degree views. We stayed in the double suite called Miguel Unamuno near the luxurious pool. Through a gothic style wooden door with wrought iron trim, down a few steps into a private courtyard enclosed by stone walls crowned with green ivy, we have our own olive tree, table and wicker chairs, chaise lounges, potted plants and terra cota bench. The gurgling of the pool on the other side of the wall adds a calming, peaceful quality to the space. The suite is a cottage made of stone, with red tile floors and wooden beams in the ceiling in the traditional Spanish style. The king size bed is framed by a beautiful wooden headboard inlaid with an image of a little village nestled in the mountains. The minibar is fully stocked and the large marble bathroom includes a towel warmer. The best part of the room for me is the utter darkness when the wooden shutters are closed, and the absolute quiet of the place--a gift to a light sleeper.

The hotel staff have been wonderfully accommodating - on the second day they filled a special request of mine for a softer mattress by the time breakfast was over.

Speaking of food...the breakfast includes delicious meats, cheeses, pastries, fresh sweet fruits, yogurts, and eggs among other things. The food tastes even better when taken on the terrace where the bees are distracted with their own plates of sugared ham. The sweeping view of the mountains as the sun rises is breathtaking.

Dining in the restaurant is another fabulous experience where every sense is delighted, from the giant candelabras that transform the veranda after dark to the talented pianist offering a variety of dinner music. The food is the best we've had on the island. There was nothing plain about the Plain Chocolate Coulant With Bailey’s centre, apple purée and mandarin sorbet for dessert. The flavors exploded in our mouths.

We highly recommend this lovely hotel for your next special occassion!

we have just returned from another perfect stay at this beautiful hotel, a very relaxing place to stay. The hotel sits in its surroundings beautifully and is so peaceful. Antonio and her staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble, they dont bother you unless you need them, which is perfect when your just trying to relax. Truly the most beautiful restful hotel in a lovely village of Valldemossa

Room Tip: Our favourite room is Jovellanos because is has the most stunning views

I have now lingered in front of the keyboard for 15 minutes trying to summon thoughts to impart.... not great for a Journo.
The difficulty is, I think, two fold. We didn't stay at the hotel so I can't review the standard of accommodation although the hotel looks impressive. We had an evening meal on the terrace with equally impressive views but unimpressive cuisine.
I say this with a heavy heart as the staff were very good, not great, not effusive but quietly attentive.
First course; Duck tortellini x 2 OK for me, "very nice" according to my husband.
Main; Beef fillet x 2. For me it was pretty awful my husband ate his but was "disappointed."
Amous-bouche were interesting.
It is expensive but you'd expect it to be and, I have to say, I am aware that we may have chosen unwisely.
We didn't complain but the staff recognised that all was not well. They were very kind, keen to resolve any issues and offered me another main but, of course, it was the end of the evening.
Without complaint or asking for any resolution my main was removed from the bill.

As you can probably tell I am reluctant to be harsh in this review as the staff, the atmosphere, the views and, of course, the company made for a lovely evening.

Would we return? Probably. If we visit Mallorca with friends as we expect to later in the year and they would like to dine then we certainly wouldn't say "no."

The husband's comment "It deserves another go."

Tips: Easy walk down from the town....tougher going up after a meal.
If you're driving the road is winding with sharp bends but this is Valldemossa.
The car park is below the main hotel with many, many steps to the driveway of the hotel and then many, many steps to reception...oxygen halfway would be handy....or take the lift found around to the left.
Book.
Take a wrap/cardigan/jacket, it can get a bit chilly on the terrace, but you don't want to miss the views.
Dress is smart casual.
Take a large wallet.
Don't have the beef.

Room Tip: Hotel was reasonably quiet may be worth enquiring about discounts or deals....you never know.
