“Great hotel in great resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013 via mobile

The Coma gran was a great hotel, the location was really good being a 5 min walk to the beach. If you want a quiet room ensure to email hotel and request a room high up overlooking pool you will get noise from entertainment in hotel but it winds down by 11.30 otherwise you may overlook main rood with bars open a lot later. The rooms were clean and a good size the bathrooms are modern with great shower but apartments so need updated.

We stayed half board in hotel the food was really good quality better than other thomson family hotels we have stayed in including the orquoedia and Bonaire. The restaurant staff were lovely always smiling especially Maggie and aperta who were great with the kids.

The entertainment wasn't to the level it should be there were 3 main thomson entertainers jimmy was very good at his job and engaged well with the crowd the other two girls Courtney crush and gstar were nice girls but didn't have that engagement with the holidaymakers and stage presence that jimmy and others such as loopy lisa had. The evening shows were all singing acts all older singers Beatles abba etc. the acts should be more relevant to the holidaymakers as the majority of guest were in 30s but the acts would appeal more to people in 50s upwards. There was no acrobatic magic or animal acts which would have been more engaging for families.

The kids club and crèche were very good they looked after our children great. Leigh from the crèche was lovely and trickster vickster from kids club brilliant. Leigh-Anne from kids club lacked enthusiasm and made no effort when it was made clear it was our children's last day.

The pool bar staff were not really friendly at all. They didn't make any effort to talk to holidaymakers especially the bar manager. They should learn from the restaurant staff a thing or two about customer service.

Overall a great holiday and apparently the hotel is undergoing renovations around pool for next year. A splash park with some slides would be great similar to the one in the Bonaire in cala bona. Will Defo consider a return in a couple of years

We have just returned from a week at this hotel with my husband and 2 year old daughter. We chose all inclusive and on the whole this was very good. There was a good choice of food in the morning and the snack bar catered for everyone in the afternoon. I am a slightly fussy eater so in the evening I struggled a little more however what I did eat was very nice and there was a lot of choice for my partner and daughter. The restaurant staff was really friendly, especially Maggie who my daughter started referring to as "my best friend". All of the staff were lovely, always saying hi and making conversation when passing. There were activities by the pool each day and a presentation for the winners as part of the evening entertainment which was nice.
A particular highlight for my daughter was Thomson the dog - she had lots of fun dancing along each evening.
The rooms were fine but a little outdated however we are aware that there will be a large renovation in the coming months - we did also hear this meant the price will be increasing! Two points which would have put us off visiting again with the rooms were the beds and the lack of lock on the door. We had a studio which did not seem appropriate for a family as this meant that my husband and I were sleeping on a pull out sofa bed for the whole week (one night would have been fine but after 4 nights I got a really bad back!) My daughter had a single bed in the room with us. The fact that you could not lock the door from the inside really bothered me as my daughter could easily leave the room - luckily she shouted bye mummy before doing so! We ended up with the pram wedged against the door in the evenings just in case.
The entertainment staff were great, especially Jazzy Jimmy and Courtney Crush who had so much energy.
The pools were nice and the indoor pool which is in use in low season / bad weather was really nice too. Our daughter had lots of fun and as the baby pool was only knee deep it was perfectly safe for her.
The reps were all lovely and helpful whenever we used them. We didn't attend the welcome meeting but they posted leaflets through our door for us which was a nice touch.
On the last 2 days (mainly due to it being cloudy) we used the crèche for a 2 hour session which our daughter seemed to really enjoy. The staff were great with her - you do pay for crèche but the prices seemed reasonable at 11 euros per session.
There's lots to keep young ones entertained with in Sa Coma. The beach is a stones throw away with nice places to eat on the front. Lots of shops to explore (all selling pretty much the same) and a little horse ranch just by the beach which is nice to walk through. There are lots of visits on offer but we chose not to do any.
Special thanks to the hotel technician who came to the rescue and fixed our pram wheel after it fell off (thanks to Manchester / Palma airport). He was great and when we tipped he seemed genuinely surprised.
A few people have said that the bar staff are unfriendly. I think I can imagine which lady they are talking about but we only saw her on the first day and she really wasn't bad enough to make an impression on our holiday!
On the whole we had a great holiday. I would definitely visit Sa Coma again but perhaps to a different hotel next time. It is perfectly adequate for a family holiday but a couple of things need improving.

Room Tip: If you're a family - go for an apartment instead of a studio

Just returned from great week spent with 5 year old granddaughter and husband, plenty of entertainment for granddaughter picked a great week weather wise, and also a quieter time of year ( end of season ).
Had fabulous stay, our room, the pools, the reception , and entertainment of thomsons holiday reps, long hours they work but all in all fab fab fab.
SA COMA is made of four long streets, plenty of food places, we went self catering, which got you out and about the area more when you had to go in search of food which was plentiful around this area the choice of cafes bars chinese restaurants is vast, recommend, the Happy bar, excellent service and food, also chinese buffet just to the left as you come outside the hotel, and of course jjs just around the corner, the beach 5 mins from the hotel.
There is a 5 million apparently revamp being spent on this hotel, WE loved the area , We did like this hotel, price wise great this time, next year seem to be out pricing itself from what other people are reporting on various sites, who knows might go back or find another hotel in this area, but for now had a great stay at this hotel, my tips are, self catering TAke a mug cups very small, take some pegs, drying rack on balcony brilliant thing ,but clothes tend to fly of pegs helped.

Room Tip: Rooms all clean and big balcony, drying racks outside on balcony take pegs to keep clothes on firml...

We have just returned from yet another fantastic holiday at the Coma,It comes to feel just like a second home and even the staff now recognize us as well as some of the restaurants that we use as we always go self catering.this time more than some others we had a brilliant ents team, as all of them(kids reps, ents team, and the reps) ALL came to-gether like never before. All the other staff in the hotel were very friendly & helpful(as we didn't use the restaurant can't comment on them,or the food).thank goodness for the air-con as the temperature did go quite high for September.Regret that next year we are going to try somewhere new as for some reason we have noticed that the prices in Mallorca seem to have gone sky high,at least an extra £200 each and that's without food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Maybe start saving for a few years down the line but I do hope that one day we will be back,we love it here, and must see what a difference the alterations are going to make.

This is our fourth year in a row at the Coma Gran and we were very happy again. I really can't fault the hotel for a family with small kids. The only thing was the nosie from the entertainment and the nearby Britannia pub if you did try to get to be d early. But people are on holiday and have to be allowed to enjoy themselves.

We did not eat in the hotel again as we like the freedom of eating out and choosing a restaurant. I have to highly recommend a new Italian restaurant just up the street from the Coma Gran. When you come out of the hotel, turn left, then turn right at the T-junction. About 50 yards up onthe right-hand side, in amongst the shops, is a restaurant called Pomodoro. The pasta and pizzas were delicious, the prices very reasonable and the staff very friendly. Just avoid the tacky souvenir/toy shop beside it. The staff were really rude when they saw one of our kids touching some of the toys outside. You are probably not in the right business, selling cheap chinese-made toys, if you don't like kids.

We also ate in the Sol restaurant heading more towards the beach from the hotel and found the food and staff great.

Aprt from that, the kids really enjoyed the entertainment and Thomson the Dog in the evenings and loved the pools.

The rooms were kept very clean. There are a few Mosquitoes around but just bring a plug-in zapper and you will be fine.

I hear the prices are going up next year as they are doing a big job on the pool area. That would put us off going, as it is good value at the moment.

Sa Coma is a great resort and we would definitely go back, which is the best indication.

We travelled to Coma Gran in September 2013 and we had a fantastic holiday. Our room was lovely and clean with a pool view. The room was cleaned on a daily basis and towels changed. All the hotel staff were fantastic - from the reception staff, restaurant staff (especailly Anna) and the pool bar staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very pleasant and helpful. The Customer Services reps - Jodie and John were great and the entertainment team were outstanding and Jimmy, G Star and Courtney Crush definetely helped make our holiday great. We were all inclusive and the food was great - plently of variety. We had no problems with sun beds as the hotel was quiter but the new pool expansion sounds great. One of the best holidays we have ever had and would highly recommend a holiday to the Coma Gran.

3 years running here having had a mixture of 1 + 2 bed apartments on bed + breakfast basis. We have loved our Holiday's here,me,my wife + our 3 year old daughter, since she was 8 month's old,and not forgetting the in-laws. But all good thing's must come to an end due to the massive price increase for 2014 with Thomson holidays to cover the refurbishments taking place over the winter period ready for the next summer season.Would have loved to come back next year but a near on £400 price increase for an apartment b+b same 2 week's make's this hotel expensive against other, bigger and better equipped hotel's. Now looking at a First Choice holiday village as works out better value overall. Cannot fault the hotel and it's staff,Thomson reps, kids clubs + entertainers over the 3 years coming here. The whole place is spotless and runs like a swiss clock, the improvements will only make it better still I hope, but the site is still not big enough for the amount of guests the hotel can accommodate when full.Breakfast vast choice, fresh omelettes superb, poolside meals at lunchtime excellent and good value( put on over 1/2 stone in 2 weeks) even after playing water polo everyday. Entertainment at night was good, kids loved it dancing to Thomson the dog, superhero and the classic chocolate!! Big shout out to our special friend Angel in the poolside bar you have helped make our holidays here and will always remember you. We do hope to come back again but only once the price is right.
