“Great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

The beach looks awesome, water is amazing.
One dislike is that towards the late afternoon/evening the beach tends to fill up with dead jellyfish. I don't know if it's the time of year or not unusual but it was my first experience with this happening.

“Lovely Sandy Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We visited Alcudia Beach during October 2013. The first thing that strikes you is the lovely soft sand, picture perfect with its loungers and umbrellas, it was exactly how you would picture a Mediterranean beach. Despite being fine and soft, the sand makes great sandcastles! The beach is perfectly flat, then drops steeply for around 6 feet into the water. Once in the water, it stays around knee depth for a good long way out making it ideal for children to play in safely.
The only thing I would say is watch out for jellyfish. It could have been down to the time of year, but there was quite a few in the shallow water and washing up on the beach. They were all Mauve Stingers and being around 12" across were quite easy to spot.
There are several food and beverage outlets on the beach as well as water sport activites. There were toilet facilities that were very basic but could be used in an emergency!

“Superb beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We loved this beach, with its soft sand and pine trees. So did a lot of other people! The shops and commercial area are tacky, but it's worth checking out the canal system and the lagoon. Avoid the nature reserve and the areas near it if you are susceptible to mosquito bites.

“Quite Surprised.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Ordinarily I'd stay well clear of a place like Alcudia. Each to their own - goes without saying - but 'over developed mass tourism' just doesn't appeal to me, (in spite of me regularly going to Mallorca lol). I ONLY mention all of that so as to emphasize that in spite of my preconceived ideas, I was really impressed with Alcudia.
We didn't stay in the resort, but we always have a car for however long we're on the island, so we just decided to have a look around Alcudia as we were passing.
We stayed most of the day!
The beach is EXCELLENT! A huge expanse granted, but of soft golden sand, very well presented and immaculate. The lovely sand continues underfoot once in the sea and doesn't drop away like most beaches. It's possible to walk quite far out and still have the sea just lapping at your knees. Being so shallow for so far has the amazing effect of making the sea warmer than bathwater. At the north end is a natural divide that separates the beach from the large marina, and here is a pleasant place to sit under the palm trees. The marina itself is well worth a stroll around, and the surrounding area is very pleasant. Really nice!
Running directly behind the beach is Carretera Arta, the main road through the resort. This is strewn with a myriad of restaurants, supermarkets and tat-shops. Nevertheless I still enjoyed walking along here, and it had a far more generic feel to it than some other resorts. It certainly offered everything anyone could possibly need. I can't remember the name of the restaurant where we ate, but it was very nice and far cheaper than where we were staying.
I arrived here expecting to find something hideous, but left having found something rather agreeable.
