“Great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2010

Me, my wife and our 2 girls (5 and 7 years) just had a fantastic week on Mallorca. Ivory Playa is a brilliant little hotel only a hundred meters from the beach and supermarket. Clean rooms, quiet at night - and very polite and helpful staff. Super breakfast buffet.
Only complaint would be that guests reserved poolplaces with their towels on the way to breakfast (even though a sign said not allowed). Oh, and we would have liked danish speaking staff in the kids club. But, we would return to this hotel for sure!

The Ivory Playa was brilliant! Great for families with young children and teenagers.I went with my husband, 13 and 8 year old sons for one week in August. We had half board, which was great value for money. The menu was great and very healthy, with lots of options for vegetarians as well as meet lovers!.There is a very cheap supermarket just opposite the hotel called Eroski. All members of staff were very polite, always very keen to help and always greated us with a smile. When I booked I requested an apartment facing the pool and gardens and on the 3rd or 4th floor. They gave me apartment 414, when we went into the balcony what a brilliant surprise: we had the view of the pool, gardens and a sea view as well!!!! There was a bus stop outside the hotel. We did attempt to take a bus and go to The Water Park in Port de Alcudia. As we went in high season, the bus was crowded and expensive, 5 euros for the four of us! It was an extremely hot day, we arrived at the entrance of the water park, but it looked very knaf and crowded from a distance, so we sat down outside, had an ice cream and went back to the hotel to be by the pool. Taxis are very reasonable and efficient, paid less than 7 Euros to go to the old town.
The activities were good. I did enjoy doing streching and the aqua gym every morning. My 8 year old enjoyed taking part in some the mini and maxi club activities There is also good activities for teenagers and adults. I found the mini disco very repetitive, with the same old songs every single night. One of the negative points was the fact that the air conditioning in the flat didnt work very well, so as it was very hot we found it very dificult sleeping at night.. I loved the hotel but was disappointed with Alcudia as a resort. The old town is lovely but a 2 hour visit is enough. In general Ididnt think Alcudia had much to offer. The sea water was quite poor compared to Port Pollensa or Fomentor were you can swim in cristal clear water. You can book excursions at the hotel, but the weather was too hot and we didnt have a lot of energy to explore.
So we spent most of the time by the pool. I would highly recommend the Ivory Playa, but I would not go back again simply because I like to explore new places and have different experiences. And I would not go back during August again. too hot and crowded. Months like May to July or September would be great!

Stayed here for 2 weeks in July with my husband and 2 kids aged 6 & 4. Ivory playa had been highly recommended to us from previous irish holiday makers.
Appartments are very modern and as well equiped as you would expect. They have a small bath with over head showere - excellent for us with young kids. Air conditioning is free and is in both bedroom & living room.
Would recommend not bothering to bring shower gels, shampoo, etc with you as there is a hypermarket (EROSKI) accross the road whick prices were actually cheaper than at home for likes of Sanex shower gel etc -- NAPPIES Too seem quite cheap. Also another tip to save paying on over weight luggage is that they offer rental scheme of towels - €10 dep and €3 per stay per towel. They do have laundry facilites on site too if you wish to bring your clothes home clean.
Buggies/prams can be hired locally if you wish to organise before getting there www.rentapram.com or theres a cheaper place across from burger king that also do car hire if you wish to organise when you get there - they chage €3/day.
One downfall of the holiday was the entertainment team - appartently they changed this year and are not as good as they have been.
Wouldnt bother with the buffet option - nicer restaurants in the area at good prices. Cheap & cheerful Smyths for nice food and The Posh Paddy irish pub accross the road for all you GAA fans - about 5 min walk - turn left when you come out main door. Dakota do really good ribs and have bouncy castle for kids. REally really nice restaurant S'Albufera, pricey but you get what you pay for!!
YOu must go to the port and go have a nice mojito at bar right at the end of the marina - watching all the rich getting there dinghys out to there yachts . .
Will be back and will deffo consider Ivory Playa again
One more thing we had asked for pool view (normal type of stuff) Falcon never mentioned that its €20/day extra for this!! Falcon/First Choice Rep - was no use - - - sorry but only complaint i have!!

WIFI password will be given to you by reception if you ask.
