“Nice relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

My wife and i stayed at this hotel 14th - 21st October 2012.and had a very relaxing enjoyable break doing nothing sitting and lazing around eating and drinking in the sunshine which we wanted. We requested a high floor room with a sea view before we left the uk and that is exactly what we got, could not fault the room although could have done with a few more draws for our clothes. The view from our room was a little disappointing as we were in front of the half build house and most of the coast line was obscured by pine trees .All the rooms have swipe cards and you can also lock the door at night from inside.
The hotel is found in a cul-de-sac where the front faces the sea the back of the hotel fronts the main road which you can hear sometimes noise from round the pool although this did,nt bother us.
The beach which is fantastic is about 200 yards away is approached over the road and though some pine trees next to the half built house. There are beach beds there but i myself felt a little cut off from the hotel (no drinks eats or toilets).
There was always plenty of food to eat and the quality was good the down fall being self service with the food being kept on hot plates under hot lights the food was never hot with the exception if you could catch it coming straight from the kitchen.
There were a lot of older people staying at this hotel however that did,nt bother us as we did,nt want loads of children.we slept well apart from the barking dog which can be found next door to the half built house.
We may or may not come back to this hotel but have no regrets we had a great holiday.

Room Tip: high floor with sea view

Hotel is in a nice location just across a small access road to the wonderful beach of playa de muro.At the rear of the hotel there is a busy road which can be quite noisy when you are in the rooms overlooking the pool or when sitting by the pool, but i think after a couple of days you tend not to hear it.The hotel is not actually in Alcudia, but is about 30-45 minutes walk away depending on your walking ability. We walked into Alcudia along the beach, which is a really lovely walk and probably the best way to do it.The rooms are fine, nothing too fancy, but clean and tidy and towels were changed every day if required. The food was good.. there was always plenty choice and what was on offer was always good. The one thing i would have to say (as has been said in previous reviews is that the food could have been warmer..this needs to be addressed .A nice touch in the dinning room is that that the wine and beers are kept in a large fridge and you just help yourself. Now the entertainment....where do i start...over the seven nights we were there we had 4 professional acts come in,3 were tribute bands, The Beatles, Westlife and,IL Divo. The 4th was a rock band which did American and British songs from the 70s. All these acts were excellent and could not be faulted, what could be faulted though was the attitude of the hotels entertainment person (jake) who seemed to think it was ok to stick on a mix cd after the professional acts were finished or after one of the many quizzes, totally killing the night even though it was only about 10.45pm, so he could go and swan off somewhere leaving the people who wanted to stay on and dance totally frustrated. He was actually asked to put on some disco music on disco night but said he didnt want to???? - very lazy and sloppy. I must also mention the bar staff who always served you quickly and with a smile on they're face they were great as were all the staff . Also worth a mention are the Thomsons reps especially young Chris who did his best for me on the occasions i approached him . Summing up i would have to say i would return to this hotel, but it would be great if they could get the entertainment thing sorted so you could enjoy yourself to the end of the night , and not be chased off to your bed before 11pm

Room Tip: quieter overlooking sea, some road noise on poolside

Hubby & I had 10 nights at this hotel - 28.8 - 8.10. We traveled with First Choice (ie Thomsons).

Flights (I know, this isn't really part of the hotel review, but could be useful) - 1st time we've had hand luggage weighed (on way out of Gatwick) - teach us to read the small print! Had to begger about swapping stuff between cases & 2 hand luggage but got under the restrictions eventually. Really helpful chap at check in who didn't want us to have to pay extra. Flight delayed coming home by 2 hours but hey ho, it happens. Older plane going out and very cramped but coming back was a newer one and better.

Transfers... had to wait for another flight to land before leaving airport so a bit of a wait, but as it's only a 2 hour flight no real problem. 45 mins on the road, but waited about an hour at the airport before leaving.

Weather - When we arrived on the Friday it was raining but did brighten up. The weekend was a disappointment and Sunday we got drenched at the market. I suppose this is what you get going late Sept/Oct. It did warm up for the rest of our holiday with temperatures in the high 20s and we both came back with a good tan. A lot of people were complaining about mozzies but we didn't suffer thankfully.

Check in at hotel - extremely quick and efficient. All the staff were extremely helpful throughout the hotel.

One useful thing the hotel operates is a "swap" facility. People leave stuff they don't want when they leave and you are free to take/use these. This ranges from books, suncream, aftersun, shampoo etc through to lilos and parasols for the beach. I think the lilos etc. were very useful to the people who spent their days on the beach as it saved them the cost of hiring sunbeds. The hotel has a quiet reading room if you like this. You can buy UK newspapers daily at reception and you can also buy individual packets of cigarettes.

Surprisingly, in this day and age, there is no wifi in the hotel ... not even if you pay for it. There is one coin operated PC if you want to go online. They have a TV in the bar showing some sport. If you ask at reception they will tell you what they can show... looks like Sky Sport mainly. TV in room shows BBC World News & Sky Living only, unless they are showing something on the bar TV and then this can be watched in the room too.

Room - small but all you need, except a kettle! I knew this beforehand so took a travel kettle so it wasn't really a problem. I don't function without a coffee first thing so it's one of my traveling essentials :) There is a small fridge and a safety deposit box (chargeable). Beds are comfortable if a little firm. By the end of the 10 days both of us were complaining a minor aches and pains but we did both sleep well. We had a room on the top (4th) floor overlooking the pool and the main road. Yes, there is traffic noise when you sit on the small balcony but you cannot hear it when you are in the room with the door shut and the AC works well. If you are on the top floor your balcony does not have a "roof" so you risk getting towels wet if you leave them out on the airer if it rains. Got some nice pics at sunset over the hills from the balcony. I'm not sure if there is really any benefit being in any particular room. If you are on the sea side of the hotel you have lots of high trees obscuring the view. The sun would be on your balcony on the sea side in the morning but gone in the afternoon. The pool side is in the shade in the morning but in the sun by mid/late afternoon. Take your pick! The room was spotlessly clean and kept that way throughout our stay. You could hear noise within the hotel, i.e. people coming and going through the corridors, doors shutting etc and this was a little bothersome.

The rest of the hotel is also kept clean and tidy. The pool area is cleaned every morning and, apparently, the sunbeds are even cleaned with bleach each day. Only real complaint (and it's a small one!) about the facilities is the size of the "public" toilets in the lobby. Considering there are 100s of people about the loo's are really tiny!

Location - we are really lazy holiday makers and don't tend to do anything. The beach is only a stones throw away across a dead end road and through some trees. The beach was lovely with shallow clear water. I believe it's a bit of a walk into Alcudia proper. We did go into Alcudia for the market. We shared a taxi each way with another couple from the hotel and this cost us five euros. Apparently you can get a bus for 1.50 euros but they get really busy. If you need any bits and pieces there is a supermarket just across the road.

Food - for me it was little too "British" and a bit bland. It looks like it's on a weekly repeat basis. Some dishes could have been a little warmer but I think this just depends when you eat or when the dish has been replenished. They do a fairly good breakfast with bacon etc. cereals, yoghurt, fruit, rolls etc. Lunch and dinner always had soup and a few different main dishes. The desserts were predictable - fruit, ice cream, jelly, and mouse type thingies. Some evenings there was "show cooking" although this is not too elaborate. I did get a bit bored after the 10 days but I sometimes think this is par for the course for a AI hotel. You help yourself to wine and lager at lunch & dinner which makes things easy.

Bar & Drinks - the most efficient bar staff I have ever seen in a hotel!!! At peak times the queue sometimes looked like it would take an age to clear but then it would be gone in a few minutes. Lager was San Miguel, red wine was drinkable and vodka seemed OK. Bar closed sharp at 11.45 without the option of a pay bar after that. They do request that you use plastic cups around the pool but this is certainly not enforced and also they ask you not to take drinks to room but lots of people did.

Clientele - well, trying to think how to put this nicely. We are not exactly youngsters but we did feel like we were bringing the average age down a bit. We were aware of this before we booked and thought it wouldn't bother us. It does mean it's nice and quiet around the pool and there are no children! However, of an evening it does mean that things are a little subdued. We are not ones for "hotel entertainment" but a bit of life and atmosphere is always a bonus. Spoke to some other people who said they had good nights out at local bars but we didn't bother. Day time entertainment seemed to consist mainly of darts, shuffle board, pool (at a local bar) and French boules. In the evening there was a quiz and some tribute acts. Can't really comment on the quality as didn't go into the entertainment room as it's not really our thing.

You are rather on top of each other wherever you are in this hotel. It is all a little compact for the number of guests...especially when it rains.

I am a smoker, but hubby isn't. I was amazed at the number of smokers here. The inside of the hotel is no smoking, but around the pool and outside seating in the evening was full of us antisocial people so if you don't like smoke it could have been an issue.

All in all we had a fair holiday. The hotel itself could not be faulted but maybe not quite for us. We feel we got what we paid for as it was a fairly cheap holiday for 10 days AI. After all we had 10 days in the sun (mostly) doing nothing (slowly) and weren't at work so couldn't grumble. Would we go back?..... probably not,

Nice clean hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Poor entertainment and a very cold swimming pool. Good choice of food. Great location only short walk to a beautiful beach We got the local bus to Alcudia and porto pollensa which was easy to manage and a good way to see other resorts.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea do not get any sun

Location of this hotel is lovely and the stunning beach is just across a small quiet road from hotel. The staff in this hotel are excellent always smiling and nothing is too much trouble. The only downsides are that the food although well cooked and good quality got rather cold quickly. Entertainment could do with tweaking although the tribute acts that came in every other night were very good, I feel quizzes followed by just music being played after are not quite enough entertainment some evenings. I have stayed in Thomson hotels where they had their own staff organising day time activities and they were more varied. I know they are still in their early days of all inclusive but it just needs a bit of tweaking. The good points about this hotel outweigh any bad ones but there was a lot of moaning going on which was some times not called for. The bar staff are absolutely lovely and they work so hard and are always cheerful and very efficient. The most super barmen I have ever come across, but then all the staff are very efficient and good at what they do. Don't take any notice of any bad reviews because some people just love to moan about anything but all in all a very nice hotel and I would certainly not hesitate in returning and hope they can sort out the small issues with food and entertainment and would be absolutely perfect then.

The hotel is nearer to Playe de Muro than it is central Alcudia.
Lovely hotel with pleasnt staff, but the smallest bathrooms ever, food average but entertainment very poor.
It was a quiz or a very bad show.
Very close to beach.
I think it has just gone A/I in the last 2 years and it was fine in that respect.
Dinner drinks is help yourself, bottle of beer, glass or bottle of wine, a good idea.
Dont think I would return soon, its a bit bingo at 9.30m and bed at 10pm.
But if you want to chill and relax then its fine.

Room Tip: Dont bother with a pool view, to many trees in the way, any upper floor is fine.

This hotel is perfect for beach lovers, the staff and service are superb, but i would not choose to visit again, unless there was to be an improvement in the temperature of the food. The food quality was good, little repetitive at times, but it was never actually hot, always warm or semi warm which is such a shame.I believe other holiday makers did complain, but as yet have not seen any comments regarding this(perhaps we are too fussy!!!)
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, the fastest serving bar staff I have ever seen!Having the beautiful beach across the road was wonderful, we did have a good holiday, but slightly overshadowed with the food problem.

Room Tip: We had room 247, whcih you could see the beautiful turquoise sea between the trees. Quieter on the s...
