We stayed at the Marina Portals for a week from October 27th and would happily go there again. The check-in was very efficient and we were soon in our room, 507 which was quite large enough for us, with plenty of wardrobe space, a spacious en-suite and a very nice view from the balcony of the pool area and, in the distance, the sea and the marina.
In reply to the review by 2012RKD - if the guests bothered to read the excellent hotel information folder in their room they would immediately get all the information about the hotel they could possibly need. The excellent young lady in reception immediately arranged for extra pillows for our room and provided maps, bus timetables and leaflets about trips as soon as we asked for them.
Breakfast was amazing, the array of food available, both hot and cold, was the best I have ever come across in a Spanish hotel and the cook producing omelettes to order was an unusual and most welcome touch. We did try dinner one night and this was also very good but we mostly ate out at night and would recommend Celia's and Jose's (both opposite the hotel entrance) Casa Paco's and Mad Lizzies (best curry I have ever tasted - try their Curry &Quiz night if you get the chance).which were all very good value for money.
The easiest way to get to the marina, with it's large collection of very very expensive boats is to go out of the gate in the hotel gardens and walk (all downhill) for about 10 minutes following the signs. It will take you longer coming back because it is all uphill - or cheat and get a taxi which will cost you about 4 Euro. The bus service is excellent, the bus stops are just down the road from the hotel and it will cost you only 2.05 Euro to get into Palma.
The next two resorts down the coast are Palma Nova and Magalluf but Portals Nous is completely different from these resorts it is a far more gentle-paced resort and a much friendlier place.
The Marina Portals is a hotel that fully merits it's four stars, the accomodation is great and the staff, whether in reception, the restaurant, the bar, at the pool and especially the housekeeping staff are all friendly and very helpful.
THe only things that could improve this hotel are; larger lifts, tea-making facilities in the room and a general entertainment channel (like BBC1) on the tv - not every british holidaymaker wants to watch endlessly repeated news.
