“Wouldn't go back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2009

Upon arriving the hotel looks nice from the outside but has a very steep entrance, not a problem as u later find out about the back gate. Our room had 2 single beds that look like sofas and a travel cot for our 7 month old baby with a tiny tv at the corner of the room. Our air conditioning was appauling as it blew in hot air and is a small box on the wall that doesn't even circulate around the room. In the evening it was a nightmare trying to get ready as there was no cold air in the room and we had to keep going for cold showers to cool down. Infact it was so hot we couldn't wait to get outside for fresh air but it was our baby who we felt sorry for, having to cope with the heat in that room. (ROOM 311!!) we were also not impressed with the cleaning service as the beds were not changed until day 4 and my top sheet had a mint stuck on it from previous occupant which wasn't changed the whole time we were there either. During the day we went to the water park or the beach as we couldn't get sun loungers around the pool, some selfish people put their towels or lilos down and would go away for hours expecting to return to the same lounger! The hotel only had one evening of entertainment but we weren't made aware of this until we arrived back at our hotel at 11.30pm and when we went to the bar on the first night it was empty, not even a bar man. We have been to palma nova before and stayed at a better hotel but we thought we would give self catering a try as we had the baby with us. In the end we ate out every day as we couldn't stay in our room for any longer than necessary.

We stayed at the lunamar in the second week of June. When arriving they take you to the front door but we mostly used the back door down by the pool which leads to the main street. The room was a good size for 2 people and the bathroom good size too. Sky news and bbc on the tv .air con avaliable and safe 30 euro for a week but you get 15 back.If you like to make breakfast in the room there was enough pots and pans to do this .Kettle takes a while to boil though but your on holiday so whats the hurry. We had a balcony facing the new apartments but found this good as if you are at the pool all day you can go back and sit on the balcony and get the sun till it sets. The balconys overlooking the pool lose the sun earlier.Pool bar was ok .reasonable prices 2.50 for a pint .1.50 for a coke .We just took our own water and juice down .No one bothered us about it . Palma nova is a lot quieter than magaluf (thank god). All the restaurants we went to were very good. The cafe bar Canto is the first bar you pass when leaving via the back gate. The food there is excellent and very good value. 2 adults both having a 3 course meal and wine was only 55 euro .Try the goats cheese starter its very nice. Also the italian Rossinnis about 50m to the left serves homecooked fresh tasty food.We also tried an Indian along the other end of palma nova cant mind what it was called but also very good. Magaluf in general is a lot busier and noisier . If you go out the back gate turn right in about 10 minutes you will be bang in the middle of magaluf .We spent a couple of nights up there good for a laugh watching all the drunken idiots walk by.You can walk right along the promenade to both resorts also. We went to palma for the day 2.75 each get the bus at the back gate cross the road the buses are quite frequent. Palma is full of wee streets and the marina is massive. We had lunch at cappucinno central very good club sandwich. If you go to the cathedral there is a museum next to it if you take your passport you can get in free on a wednesday. Overall I would recommend Palma Nova and the Lunamatr we had a great time.

The Sol Lunamar is in a fantastic location as I was visiting my daughter who lives nearby, alas the restrictions of visitors applied by the Hotel are although understandable are far to stringent
Unfortunately a piece of paper given out by a rude reception staff member with the do’s and don’ts on and points out these restrictions is inadequate after you have arrived. This restriction should be on the Hotel information details when booking or I would not have booked the accommodation.
Although I did have a couple of unwanted visitors (Cockroaches ) I have needless to say cancelled by bookings for August and October and will again be staying in a Hotel where they do make my visitors welcome.
Also the access to the Reception Lobby to the front of the Hotel is very steep, so not suitable for Disabled or Elderly and only parking for 4 cars.

Wasn't sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but this hotel is great. Arrived to a FRIENDLY guy at reception, the hotel is quite modern and extremely clean. Arrived in our room and it was again modern and clean, nice bathroom. The beds are actually sofa/beds but any photos on the net will show you what i mean. It had a really good balcony area. The towels and linen were changed every other day even though one of the days was the day before we left.

I never spent much time in the rest of the inside of the hotel as I was making the most of the weather round the pool. The pool was great - my only complaint would be the sunbeds did not have adjustable tops so were not that comfortable so i ended up putting my lilo on it.

Locationwise it was perfect for us, inbetween magalluf and palma nova. So had really nice restuarants nearby, and a quiter atmosphere, with the clubs and pubs of magaluf only a 5 mins walk away.

We loved this hotel and we would definatley stay again

On arrival to the hotel we were met by Fernando on reception who checked us in quickly and efficiently and told us some general info about the hotel (He also told us about the short cut throught the back gate which makes life so much easier than walking the steps!
The rooms was exceptionally clean (I work for a hotel company and the standard was particularly good!) and nicely laid out, with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and sea. (My only critisism is that we could have done with another plug socket in the kitchen area as we had to stand the kettle on the floor)
Pool and public areas all cleaned daily, staff very friendly.
The food we had at the hotel was good although we preferred to eat out in the evenings as it is something we enjoy. El Mecca Restaurant opposite the back entrance was particularly good as was the Poonam Indian Restaurant in Magaluf.
The beach is only minutes from the hotel which was clean and not too crowded and offered plenty of water sports. The bus service is also particulary good, inexpensive and reliable!
This was booked as a last minute, budget holiday and the hotel, it's location and the area more than excedded out expectations.

I stayed in the Sol Lunamar Apartments with my husband and 18 month old son for a week in May 2009. The apartment was a good size and was very clean. The pool wasn't too busy and it was always easy to get loungers. The kids pool waqs great too. The apartments were also quiet at night which was great with us having a young child with us. The apartments were in a great location for going to the beach and for eating out at night. The back gate is open from 8am to midnight and is the easiest route in and out (especially with a buggy!)

We found a few nice places to eat. F&C's is a BBQ place on the beach which does great steaks for a good price. Rossinis was a small Italian along from the apartments which was very nice too. I would recommend going for breakfast in Wee Magees as it was lovely and their burgers were nice too.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and I would definitely go back there again.

Location is perfect, plenty bars ,restaurants.Staff friendly, pool area lovely, we had room overlooking pool on 3rd floor, this side gets sun as it comes up in morning ! room ok , we didnt cook just made tea & coffee so was surprised to find cockroach in bathroom one night, my husband threw it down loo and we thought it was just a one off, but two days later we found one on kitchen sink which hurtled at top speed and lunged onto floor, thank god my husband caught this one and down the loo it went, freaked me out and spoilt holiday a bit , also if you do stay here please take a couple pf cheap pillows with you as theirs are like bricks, the worst ever believe me!
