“AVOID IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND ENGLISH”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2008

On the first impression walking in to this hotel you think, its nice, its fresh and clean. Please note that my opinion is regarding the staff and not the actual building or hotel as a whole.

I was absolutly appalled at our treatment whilst staying at this hotel. By the night receptionist i was told that i was a 'British S**t' and that he 'hated the English'. Upon walking through the lobby and heading for the room we were be told that if we didnt stop giving attitude that he would call the police. He can be quoted as saying 'i will tell them you kicked me and they will smash your faces in' which doesnt convey a particular positive image.

In the end pleading that he could no longer speak English we diffused the situation by leaving the hotel. Bearing in mind we had paid to stay a week and couldnt stay for fear that he would call the police again for no apparent reason.

If the owner of this chain of hotels, or a travel company that uses this hotel reads this review I have no hesitation on being quoted and will be vouched for by my companions.

If you are young and English. Do not book this hotel.

I have just returned from the Sol Lunamar appartments in Palma Nova. We were lucky enough to get a room with a pool view as the back faced onto a building site and i heard alot of guest complaining of a smell and that it was very noisy. The staff are pretty helpful. The rooms are clean but very small the beds are rubbish and the cooking facilities are a joke the only plugs they have are at ground level so you have to put the toaster and kettle on the floor. The pool is ok but very deep the sun beds are very uncomfortable so we went to the beach most days which cost €9 for 2 beds and an umbrella. The best thing about these appartments are the location as we could just walk to either to Palma Nova or Magaluf.

I just got back from a 10 day stay at the Sol Lunamar. I have been to Majorca/Magaluf many times before, and wanted a bit of a quieter time with me going with my boyfriend as opposed to a girly holiday!

Whilst the hotel is in Palma Nova, it is a 5 minute walk to Magaluf so you can have the best of both worlds, a raucous night out or a quieter few drinks.

The hotel itself surpassed my expectations, having paid so little for a 10 day stay. The room is spacious, 2 single beds are a pain but can easily be pushed together. The rooms were cleaned and towels changed every other day. On the first day we saw 1 cockroach and was worried that it would be an infestation, but after he was disgarded, no others were seen and is to be expected of a spanish resort..

The pool was absoutely freezing but that was to be expected as for 6 out of the 10 days we had massive thunder storms and torrential rain, again not to be expected!!

Whilst we were there it was mainly families and older couples however there was 1 large group of young lads being raucous and making lots of noise, however I would imagine with every hotel in that area this is to be expected.

If you are wanting a lively hotel, this is not one to go to as the bar seemed to be a bit of a joke and never had anyone in it.

All in all a good holiday was had and I would definitely recommend this hotel for the cost and will be staying here again if I go back to Majorca again.

Hotel Sol Lunamar was excellent from the efficient reception staff on arrival. The room was spacious and very clean every thing you needed was there. The beach was only minutes away via the swimming pool. What more could you ask for.

At this time of the year the resort was for older people even the beach was peacefull, bliss.

I would most certainly visit again.

After reading some of the negative reviews, I was hesitant, but went ahead and booked a studio for 10 days. The Sol Lunimar is basic, but very clean. The towels and bedding are changed regularly. We had a slight problem having a noisey fridge. We complained about it and it was changed within the half hour.
The premises are conveniently situated and would not hesitate to stay again. It certainly gets our recommendation. It was value for money.

We had a terrible experience in that hotel during our one week stay in August this year:
- in one of the two studios we had there were serious problems with electricity. On the first day we detected strong smell of burning wires from the fuse box. Then we had to call the reception every day because of the problems in the fuse box which clicked every time we would turn on a stove or a kettle. They had plenty of empty rooms, but refused to relocate us out of principle. In the end we were hinted that 20 euros could make them more cooperative.
- there were ants in the bathroom and cockroaches in the kitchen.
- the linen was old and worn out.
- they collect garbage every 3 days only, so people dump garbage bags in the corridor.
- the furniture looks cheap and worn out.
- the water in the swimming pool is full of chemicals.
It is a cheap place with poor management, that is my verdict.
Never again.

Booked flights & Apartment on FlyGlobespan website. Arrived at Sol Lunamar Appt. Reception friendly. Room basic but very clean. Pool & Sea View from Balcony. Poolside was quiet first thing in the morning. 5 mins from beach. Would recommend to families, couples & singletons. Would definitely visit again.
