“Excellent. Suitable for everyone!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 1 week in August. On arrival at the apartments we really liked what we saw. The receptionist were very friendly and helpful speaking excellent English. The lobby and seating area was very stylish. We had to pay a small amount and small deposit for the aircon and safe for our room.

We stayed in 504 (2 flights up and took the stairs all week so can't comment on the elevators.) First impressions of the room were clean and basic but we knew that from reviews and room description. We moved the 2 single beds together to make a large double The beds were comfy. The room was cleaned every 2 days including towel and linen change. Large balcony facing on the street that we had sun on most of the day. Quite quiet and peaceful day and night. Bathroom clean and ok size.

Pool area was really clean and nice. Plants and palm trees all around. Although the sunbed situation was first come first serve as people left towels on them even though there are plenty signs saying that wasn't allowed. We were quite lucky and got two when wanted. The sun was round the pool all day. The pool bar was excellent serving a charity if food and drink all day. The gate at the back of the pool area was a quick way to get to the beach and strip and safe too by access only allowed with your room key. Beautiful Beach a 2 minute walk with shops and restaurants all around. Magaluf was a 10 minute walk right.

We very much enjoyed our stay and would defo stay again. Maybe upgrading to a pool view next time? The apartments are in a great location. Close enough to everything but far enough away that you're not disturb by noise at night. As a couple in our 20's it was an excellent choice for a quiet night or a late night out or in magaluf. Plenty to do, great places to eat in just a few minutes walk. ****

Had a fabulous time at these apartments. Booked a pool view studio. It was spotlessly clean. Towels a bit rough and not the best of showers. Balcony spacious. View was fantastic. Two lovely lounges. Check-in was quick and efficient. Pool bar is fab. Place was quiet so got sun loungers no problem. Bobbed about in the pool on a LILO most of the day. If you're looking for a "real" British brekkie I'd recommend Wee Magees - out the hotel gates and turn left. We are in the Cafe San Matias (outside the Santa Lucia). If you chose these apartments, I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

We stayed at the Sol Lunamar from the 1st - 8th September this year (2013). The staff were all really friendly and helpful with very good English. The pool area was great, really clean and well kept. The seating area by the pool was great with lots of shaded areas. The games room was a nice little bonus too and good if you want 5 mins away from the sun! We ate lunch at the hotel twice as it was really cheap and tasty. As most of the reviews suggest the rooms are slightly out dated but absolutely spotless (which is the main thing!). Our sheets and towels were changed every other day which was great. The communal areas were modern, clean and not too over crowded like some other hotels can be. We could always get a sun bed by the pool at any point of the day as there was plenty for all of the guests. The bathroom was well equipped and the shower was a nice temperature, some other hotels you only get a trickle of water but this had a nice steady flow. We were never disturbed by noise during our stay.

Its location cannot be beaten. The back gate (located at the back of the pool area and controlled by your rooms key card) leads right on to Palma Nova beach and many shops/bars/restaurants. If you turn left from the gate it leads you down towards Palma Nova (5 min walk) or turn right its leads to Magaluf (5 min walk). As a couple in our 20’s it was perfect as we could choose to have a more chilled night in Palma Nova or a party night in Magaluf. At the end of the night if you are a little ‘worse-for-wear’ after a night in Magaluf a cab back to the hotel is only 3 or 4 euros ;)

If you find yourself on the magaluf beach front try to go to ‘The Boat Yard’. It’s a restaurant which we loved and went back twice for dinner (it would have been more but unfortunately we only discovered it on our 2nd-to-last-night)! The service, food, staff, décor, location, drinks and prices were all great! I can’t recommend it highly enough. Although some reviews on here suggest going to Mecca restaurant (just outside the back gate to the hotel), I wouldn’t recommend it at all. Our food was terrible (really burnt), service slow and the milk in our milkshakes was gone off. This, however, was our one and only bad eating experience while visiting so majority of the restaurants by the hotel were lovely.

If I had to make one small suggestion to the hotel it would be to play slightly more ‘up-beat’ songs round the pool area during the day. This is down to personal taste though but maybe a little more variety would have been good. It was very ‘Spanish-magic FM’ style music but nothing an iPod couldn’t fix :o) However, saying that, we spent most of our days on Palma Nova beach as it was so lovely. Also a full length mirror in the room would have been nice but the reflection in the balcony door worked fine. Oh and don’t be put off by the rooms having twin beds, we pushed these together easily and then you have yourself a nice ‘king sized’ double for your stay :o)

We had an absolutely amazing week and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We will definitely be returning again in the future!

As a couple in our 20s, we have just returned home from Sol Lunamar and really enjoyed our weeks stay there.

We stayed in room 314 which was basic but very clean and also had a spacious bathroom. Our room didn't have a pool/sea view but still had a decent sized balcony. Pool or sea view rooms do cost extra but we decided not to bother as we intended to spend as little time in the room anyway. Our room did have a safe box and air con (both of which are available at reception for a small charge).

The only criticism we had over our room was that because it was located next to the stairs and lifts on the third floor, same as reception, it meant constantly being awoken by guests loudly leaving/ arriving at the hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Rafael at the pool bar. The pool area itself was fantastic with plenty of sun loungers, although you must be there very early or you miss out on any sun loungers being available as they were constantly being reserved with towels even at 9:30am by people who didn't arrive at the pool till after 3pm. The hotel specifies that there are rules against this but unfortunately its not enforced!!

We only ate twice for lunch at the hotel, but the food was very tasty and cheap! A gate beyond the pool leads you straight onto Palma Nova beach as well as its many bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The two restaurants we really enjoyed were Viceroys (italian/steakhouse) and Tandoori Nights (indian) both of which just a short walk from the hotel.

We found the entertainment at night to be from one extreme to the other. There was only really bars/ clubs for partygoers such as Banana Joes and the magaluf strip or bars for the older generation that played tv shows like Mrs Browns Boys all night!!! As a young couple neither appealed so we opted for Papis cocktail bar that had live bands every night (and free wifi!)

Overall, a very relaxing chilled out holiday made enjoyable by our stay at Sol Lunamar.

Hello Andy C,

We are happy to hear that you really enjoyed your stay with us! Thank you for your nice words of our helpful and friendly staff.

We encourage guest to talk to us about broken rules and we will make rules be done, we think that we have enough sunbeds, we will keep an eye on it.

One tip for your next visit, request in advance "no X room" or "please X floor instead Y floor". We can not guarantee it but we will do our best to allocate you as your desires.

Kind regards,

Myself and my partner stayed here with our daughter and my god daughter (both 17 years old) from 1st to 8th September, was a little concerned a some of the reviews we had read were not brilliant but we only have praise for the Sol Lunamar, the staff were lovely, very helpful, the apartments were basic but very clean, the balcony was lovely and had a lovely view over the pool, the only 2 problems we had was that the shower head fell off when we tried to use the shower but we reported this to Reception and the next morning it was sorted - it was evening time when this happened so the maintenance man had left for the day - and then we had a leak from the fridge as the door wouldn't close properly and this was also sorted, the pool area was lovely and clean with plenty sunbeds for everyone, brilliant pool bar with bar snacks if you didn't want to go out, ideal location as in the middle of everything and only 5 minutes away from beach and Magaluf, air conditioning was brilliant and sometimes got too cold in the night and had to be turned off, all in all a brilliant holiday, would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: We had rooms 301 and 302 and although we had a pool view our balconies did not get the sun at all so...

another great stay in the sol lunamar apartments, rooms are basic but how long do you actually spend in them?? we had a problem with the shower and the electric would go off in the night which meant the air con didnt work as soon as we reported this to reception both problems were sorted straight away, the room we had was quite noisy early on a morning as it was right opposite im presuming where house keeping keep there trollies and just off reception but who wants to lie in bed when you wake up to brilliant sunshine every morning!! its our 4th stay there and will definitly be returning :)

Just come back from week at these apartments. Lets start with positive. Fab location minutes from shops bars and beach, 10 min walk to magaluf. lovely for older ones is the robinson crusoe bar there and the square with bars sea view and live music. In Palma nova Food was lovely in Florida bar, out off back gates and turn right and walk down road. Went there most days for breakfast and evening meal there 3 times. Was not impressed with food across road at el Mecca .Apartments at sol luminar were very clean and found air con fab even a little chilly on night lol. Must admit missing mirror in lounge and maybe a microwave. Staff where really pleasant especially the main bar man he was really cheerful. Pool was a decent size and clean. Enough sun beds around the pool area. Really could do with free wifi at least in public areas. On a night there is no entertainment but enough out and about the area.
