“Small, basic low cost hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Pros:
Friendly & Helpful staff, albeit not many of them.
Cheap, clean, good size balcony, most appliances and utensils.
Phone & TV with English channels.
Good location, just 10 yds from shops, restaurants & buses, 50 yds from beach.
Nice pool side area. Convenient rear entrance to shops etc.
Room safe (chargeable), AirCon (controller refundable deposit).
Cons:
Small studio, Sofa beds.
Room Service only every other day.
No restaurant, except for pool side food.
No Hair Drier.
Road noise.
Small TV.

You get what you pay for, and this was good value despite a few negative points.

I stayed here with my wife and some of her family for a week in the middle of May as we travelled over for a family wedding. The rooms are very basic and a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The pool area is nice and clean with plenty of sun loungers, however the pool was freeeezing but that was down to the time of year we visited. Location is perfect, being in a nice quite spot in Palmanova only a minute’s walk from the beach and 5 minutes’ walk from the crazy nightlife on offer in Magaluf. The staff are very friendly and accommodating.

The only downside was the lack of WiFi availability in the resort (it is only available in a common area) and the fact that we only received clean towels every second day unless requested.
All in all though a pleasant stay for a great price.

Room Tip: Choosing a room with out a pool view will save you money and get you nice sun in the evening if you...

Dear Sandman91,

Thank you very much for your interesting review. All your coments are wellcome and it helps us to improve.

We are really happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and our staff.

About WiFi let you know that probably, on your next visit, if you will, we will have this service on rooms, we are making all arrangements to have it available, but sometimes works takes a little more time than expected and we couldn't open this season offering it.

Kind regards,

Quality Manager

we booked our week stay at the lunamar at short notice but knew what we would be going to as we had stayed ther last september, the reception staff are 1st class & made us feel at home straight away,BUT did-not prepare us for how cold it was going to be at night it was absolutley FREEZING but they gave us extra blanckets in the morning & said even if we had gone & asked that night they would have sorted us out,so be prepared going out of season the pool is also very cold yet,i cant help thinking they are missing a trick with all the natural recorces they have ie:the sun why they dont install solar panels for heating the rooms & pool, anyway enough doom & gloom we had a great stay, raffa(AKA james bond) wason top form having the crack at every oppotunity but still doing a great job as you go out the pool gate turn left & visit beverleys bar lovely girl nothing to much trouble & free WIFI(take her a bottle of HP sause)& you will be her freind for life plenty of other great bars & eatnig places on the doorstep overall the LUNAMAR is situated in my mind perfect.

Room Tip: pool veiw room no trafic noise but have very little sun in the day so early & late season can be...

Stayed last September and while it was very comfortable and reasonably quiet, although busy, it was absolutely in the perfect position. Great for the bars and restaurants of Palm Nova, very close to the lovely golden beach and warm Mediterranean Sea and, not too far from a rather different evening in Magaluf (if you dare). And so inexpensive. The pool is good although you may struggle to get a couple of beds together If you don't get up before your breakfast.

We stayed last July (2012)- and reading the reviews we were very much looking forward to our stay.
We had book two rooms arrived - not together- this wasn't ideal but it didn't matter too much
- only one room had pool view- the other room someone was in it already - so that wasn't great.
Beds were quite uncomfortable- water went off once when we where there- Staff were friendly- pool was nice

Room Tip: -Pay for the A/C well worth it

Stayed in this hotel in July 2012 and to be honest i was'nt expecting very much.....we paid £200 per person for 1 week in the middle of July and as people say you get what you pay for....well we got more than expected!! Good location...staff are very helpful....pool and area is big and spacious...food is good and some good prices for alcohol at the pool bar! You are roughly 3 minutes to Magaluf and I would defs recomend 'Wee McGhees' for breakfast which is just out the back gate which your room key lets you in and out. You are about 100-200 metres from the Palma Nova beach. I would defs come back to this hotel again!!!

Room Tip: request a room between 307 - 312 or 407-412 xx

We have been to Palma Nova/Magaluf at least 15 times and love the area. We always stay away from the places that attract the young and lively and May 2012 was the first time we stayed at the Lunamar.
As soon as we arrived we noticed the whole place reeked of strong air freshener. They used it everywhere. It was so bad we could taste it and it was like that everyday.
Our room was just off the reception and I am sure that the maid had used a full can of spray in it. We opened the balcony doors and could not get rid of the smell. It got on our clothes and we were reluctant to unpack. I got a headache within the first 20 mins and my husband who never likes to complain agreed we needed to be moved. The management eventually found us somewhere that hadn't been doused in air freshener and made a note for the maids telling them not to spray our room. That was fine for about 4 days then it was back to being sprayed again. Everything else we could deal with. The rooms were basic but we had a kettle, toaster and some pots and pans. Clean towels every day, maid service and the rooms were cleaned.
We got some noise from other guests but but it was not enough to put us off going again. What has put us off is the air freshener and that is a shame. The Lunamar is in a good location, good value for money and handy for both resorts, so next time we will probably go to the Ca's Saboners across the road where we stayed a few years ago.
