“A Birthday Treat for A Special Person”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

My wife's birthday needed something special, so I could not think of a better place to spend it than the hotel Son Matias Beach, because i just knew we would get that special treatment.
My wife was over the moon from the minute she arrived, flowers, champagne and to top it all friends and relations had turned up as a surprise.
We have stayed in this hotel twice before, so I knew the staff would rise to the occasion, and also was confident that everything I requested would be supplied, and was not disappointed. I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel, everything from location, staff, restaurant, food and entertainment.Even the weather was kind to us, so I would recommend a holiday in Palma Nova staying in this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: any room ,they are all nice

Our second visit to this excellent hotel and it will not be our last. Weather was stunning which helps anywhere but everything about this place is really well done. Situated right on the pedestrianised sea front and with all rooms sea facing,,the rooms have been re furbished since last time and are very tastful with all new high quality equipment in the bathrooms. Great shower fittings. Food is always good with plenty of choices and the entertainment was we thought better this year than last. Some really good acts.to enjoy. They even do a tea dance in the afternoon. Last year that was very popular but this year the weather was too good and most guests were out enjoying the sunshine. No children is a boon for us and we will not hesitate to return to this very happy 4 star hotel

Room Tip: All the rooms are good

We recently returned to the Hotel Son Matias ,my birthday present from my husband.
Had a wonderful welcome on arrival at the hotel,we had an early flight and although check in isn't until 2pm our room was ready and waiting, very welcome as we had a 3am start.
Our room was very well appointed and very clean, well stocked amenities in the bathroom [shampoo, shower gel, comb etc.]We had relaxed for a while when there was a knock on our bedroom door,my husband opened it and standing outside was one of the friendly bar/restaurant staff,he brought in compliments of the hotel Champagne and chocolates and a beautiful birthday card compliments of the Hotel Management and staff. This was a wonderful surprise and very unexpected but it really made my birthday complete.
The hotel is perfectly positioned, right on the beach and all rooms have a sea-view.
What can I say about the food,it is excellent, wonderful choice, definitely something for everyone's taste.
The hotel has a very varied entertainments programme and the entertainments staff are wonderful,Jacinta is very bubbly and although she is young she really worked well with all the guests who are mostly a lot older than herself.Jacinta was very hard working looking to keep everyone happy and entertained, always had a smile on her face and was very hard working, she was all alone when we first arrived ,working seven days a week, thankfully help arrived a couple of days before we were due to return home,Siobhan, who is American, from Chicago but of Irish decent. Can't thank Jacinta enough for keeping us so happily entertained. The artists who appeared at night were of a very high standard, loved Gee Carmicheal and Jon Paul Bradshaw.Every part of or holiday was excellent, and they all made us feel so welcome and at home,Javier,Sue and staff in the restaurant and bar went above and beyond to help you.Definitely returning here and can really recommend this hotel for a wonderful holiday, whether you just want to relax around the pool area or venture out.It is an adults only hotel no children under 16 allowed but for couples is a definite first choice.Thank you to all at the Hotel Son Matias Beach Hotel for yet another wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Haven't had a bad room at this hotel, all rooms have sea view,if you want the sun in the afternoo...

Spent 11 nights here in March at the time when the UK was suffering snow storms and blizzards, it was brilliant.

Being an adults only hotel, coupled with the fact that it was March, meant that the vast majority of guests were in the 50's+ age bracket but a great bunch of people who were up for a laugh and proved to be good company.

The hotel itself if wonderful. Located right on the beach amongst a selection of shops, bars and restaurants, and every room has a sea view. Despite the proximity of the bars and restaurants noise was never a problem, and a good nights sleep was no problem either.

Food was of a very high standard, again aimed at the older all British clientele, but some Spanish dishes are included, and the salad bar is terrific.

The staff are all brilliant, not a miserable face among them, always a smile and an "hola" from everyone, even the maids.

The entertainment overall was pretty good and certainly of a much higher standard than we have experienced in other hotels, but bear in mind it is aimed at the age group that this hotel caters so well for.

The only downside. The pool is not heated in early or late season. Such a shame because it is a great pool.

Will we be going back? Oh yes!

Brilliant hotel if you are of a certain age. We booked this hotel because of the wonderful reports we had read and the fact that it was adults only. It would appear that we missed one detail, the average age of clients is about 75. There were many much older and a few "carers" who were younger but it really is geared up for the post retirement age range. Afternoon cups of tea and biscuits, big screens for bingo and the artists, all around the room so that the hard of hearing did not miss numbers should have warned us. We were the last in bed at midnight!
When the artist, and there was one every night ranging in quality from excellent to awful, finished the first half of their act it was as if a bell had rung, half the room got up and went to bed. When the act finally ended at 11pm everyone else went to bed.
Food was a little old fashioned and geared up for those with dentures eg sheherds pie. However, in fairness it was of a good quality and there was choice, there was a Sunday roast every night!
My husband thinks I am being overcritical and, to some extent I agree with him. These are all the negative grumbles. The hotel staff were absolutely brilliant, the hotel was spotlessly clean, the seaviews were perfect and we had a good time. Would we go back? Yes I will be taking my 80 year old parents later this year, it is perfect for them.

Room Tip: The side over the pool got the most sun and still had a sea view but the side on the front had a bet...
