“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

A good hotel spoiled by a few irritations. Pros - clean, friendly staff, good choice of food but poor quality in the choice (but carvery excellent). Well situated, central but in a quiet area. Cons - THIN walls, a bit dated and an all inclusive option resulting in a pool area surrounded by obese drunken holiday makers, no not teenagers, but forty fifty sixty year olds. Oh and an exorbitant charge of 25 a week for a room safe

We had booked the Palma Nova hotel and were informed 3 weeks before we were due to travel that our hotel was being changed to the Mimosa Park Hotel. We checked it on Trip Advisor and found the reviews not as good as the Palma Nova, so we were a little worried but it was fine. location is good. We went here from 2 Oct 13 - 9 Oct 13. The Mimosa Park food was very good with lots of choice. Room was very clean, but you need to be careful with any food you are eating in the room. We dropped a crumb of chocolate on the bathroom floor and when we went back in to the bathroom we had about 20 ants enjoying the feast. We were careful after that and did not have any more little visitors. Apart from that incident our room was very comfortable and clean. Bedding, towels changed daily and room cleaned daily. Our veranda light did not work which did not bother me, but I found out no-one had a working veranda light (possibly to save money). We had a high floor and found it very quiet with a nice view. Pool area was clean and relaxing and we never had any trouble getting a sunbed when we wanted one, although we did spend a lot of time at the beach. They had a patio bar area with a self service bar area during the day, you did have to scan in to the area which did not really bother us until we realised that this system was doing people out of there jobs. This area also had a bit where you could get toasties and hotdogs which sounds good but due to other guests spilling beer everywhere was a bit smelly, so I could not get anything to eat from there. You could also sit in this area at night (as the seats indoors upstairs are taken very quickly) which was nice but you still have to go up the stairs to the scan system to get your drinks as the downstairs bar area closes. The only problem I found with this was the stairs are very badly lit. The stairs had lights on them but most of them were not working, so when you were going up and down the stairs it was very dangerous. The overall feeling was bad maintenance or money saving tactics. The lift in the hotel is not for the faint hearted either, I was worried when more than 4 people were in it although it was supposed to carry 6 people, it jumped when it stopped and started and the doors made a screeching noise when they closed. The staff in the hotel from reception to the cleaners were all very friendly and hard working. On our last day we decided to pay to keep the room as our transfers were not until 3pm and we were supposed to be out of the room at 11am. When we went down for our lunch at 1.30pm we were told that we were not on the list and could not get lunch. My husband explained that we had paid an extra 25 euros to keep the room and get our lunch. It was very embarrassing as there was a queue behind us waiting to go for lunch, we had to stand there until he sent someone to check If what we had said was true. eventually we were allowed to go for lunch. The beach in Palma Nova was great and you should try the para-sailing and UFO water activities they were great. We also went to Katmandu (upside down house) theme park. You can buy a theme activities passport for about 30 euros and this will do you for 4 activities, good for adults and kids. Another good activity is golf fantasia, which is between the hotel and the beech. My overall opinion of the hotel is Good but needs a little maintenance and the staff work very hard.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor for good views and peace and quiet

On the positive. The Hotel is spotless, the staff are all very nice. Towels changed daily, bedding changed after four days. Breakfast was very nice but the evening meals although plentiful were all of poor quality except for the two carveries which we had whilst there. The main thing I have against this hotel is that the walls are so thin you can hear everything that goes on in the rooms next door, it also has an all inclusive choice and people 40+ were drinking from 10am each day and by the time of the evening meal they were so drunk they could not get our of their chairs to go into the dining room.
I cannot comment on the entertainment as I went out each day and during the evening.

Room Tip: Floor five or above, sea view.

Just back from a week at this hotel. Reception quite dark, only one person attending to our check-in for at least 12 couples. Staff very polite and helpful during our visit. Rooms basic, but clean and beds comfy. Food was great, plenty of variety, service prompt. Only wee niggle, its mainly set up for all inclusive, self service for drinks and snacks for them. So, when we went to the bar for drinks on our half board basis, we had to wait for staff to serve us. Not always staff present in the bar areas. Will go back tho without doubt.

Just returned from a great week at this hotel. Had a great stay, hotel rooms a wee bit tired but adequate for the price we paid. Staff were both pleasant and helpful, especially the dining/kitchen staff. Food was excellent with a wide choice offered at all meal times. First time we have ever been all inclusive and thoroughly enjoyed!!!! A lot of people complaining about the scanner system for the drinks area but found this down to being user error rather than system problem!!! Miguel in the dining room was a hoot!!!! For all the complainers : If you want 5 star you will have to payfor it!!!!

this was our first visit to this hotel and as it was a last minute deal so we didn't have very high expectations, but we were very happy to have gone there. The hotel room was quite spacious with plenty wardrobe space and very clean. The cleaners came in every day and we had no complaints. The hotel could do with a bit up dating but nothing too disasterous. How anyone could complain about the food amazes me, you could get smoked salmon for breakfast and the sausages were proper ones not the usual hot dog type, and the bacon was more like ham and they had lots of other things to choose from including hot croissants. Nobody could possibly go hungry!! All the other meals were spot on aswell, we never saw the same thing twice. We heard one or two people complaining but we quickly told them some 4 star hotels didn't have as good food. I guess they want 5 star accommodation for 3 star prices.!! Round by the pool there was a self service bar which also had facilities to make toasted sandwiches and hot dogs which were all supplied with salad all day long and I might add were really lovely. I must admit the entertainment wasn't very good as most nights it was only the reps that put something on and it was quite boring but they did have a singer on a couple of times which wasn,t too bad and again the bar was self service there too which was nice. The only thing I could complain about if I had to make a complaint would be that the hotel is situated up a little bit of a hill which people who have walking difficulties might find it a bit of a problem but you could get a taxi from the promenade for just over 3 euros so not a huge deal breaker. All in all I would say if you want a good hotel for not a lot of money do try it i'm sure you won't be disappointed.
