“its a great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Just arrived back from the hotel Mirlos we stayed at the 6th floor lookin straight at the see.If you are going whit kids then its the best hotel for you if not then expect a lot of kids crying in the restaurant when you eat(no problem for me i love kids). The food is great lots to choose from, the bar side is also great, friendly waiters all the time. The hotel staff is very friendly and willing to help you if u have any questions. What we didn t like about the room is that the walls were thin and you can hear other persons in the next room, especially in the bathroom. The beach is 5 min away on foot, and there are many shops in the near. The hotel is located in a quiet and clean part of the city.

Room Tip: ask for a room from where you can see the beauty of the sea..

Stayed in Tordos hotel 13-24th June, after some confusion & long wait to be booked in, overall holiday was brilliant, view from 3rd floor in Tordos was bit of waste ground at the back, but the entertainment from the hotel opposite was great..
Food in Tordos was really good for a 3 * hotel, service from restaurant staff was immense, bar staff excellent, rooms were cleaned every day, entertainment staff.... Well, they really were brilliant, yes there was trouble getting sunbeds in morning, but really, what do you expect?.. Found other holiday makers very nice & friendly... I was here with my husband, 19 yr old daughter & 7 yr old son & we all had an amazing time... So good infact, I have booked again for next year,
The problem people have with tge lifts...dont understand... Its a 9 floor
Hotel, with an awful lot of people staying. .. Cant please everyone!!!..& in a family themed hotel, yes you will get kids having tantrums & crying in restaurant... Dont get people moaning bout that in a review bout hotel....so all in all, had a fab time... Roll on next June...x

This is two hotels which have merged into one. Mirlos is very modern in the reception, bar and restaurant. Tordos not so modern and flintstones orientated. Mainly English guests.
Good points - great location right in between Palma nova and magaluf. Good air con. Good food (good old fry up, don't worry if u miss breakfast, it carries on into the snack time after 10am). Friendly staff. Bathrooms fairly modern with a good shower. You get a wristband for free admission to Fantasia mini golf and Katmandu house which is a real bonus! Defo do both! Worth upgrading to do all the other activities at Katmandu (4D shows and mini golf. Go late at night for a quiet time!)
Bad points - tiny rooms, need refurbing and its true - the walls are so thin you can hear every word your neighbours say (particularly in the bathroom which is fun!). No hair dryers or fridges. The pool area is totally over crowded and its hard to get a sunbed. For evening entertainment you literally cannot get a seat unless you get there about 3 hours prior to the start!! From what we saw entertainment seemed ok and some evenings had two shows (one indoors and one outdoors) it is possible to get a low room over looking entertainment in Tordos block, entertainment is loud late a night however. There is always a queue for drinks, in the evening it is ridiculous!!!
For us the hotel was just too over crowded and this made it a grim week for us. Worth saying you can always get a seat for meals however. We probably wouldn't return. The location saved the week for us. It could have been a lot worse but it sure needs some improvements.

10 nights in the Sol Mirlos and a fun holiday was had. Staff were very friendly and helpful and most speak excellent English. Those whose English is not so strong can appear abrupt and rude possibly as they tried to understand what was being said (commented on in other reviews), but I found that an attempt at a few Spanish words resulted in a very friendly response - you are in Spain after all!

Food was very good. There is an expansive choice at each meal time, though it can get a bit "samey" if you go for the same type of choice repetitively. Varying choice from the different counters ensured a good varied diet. We were travelling with our 18 month old daughter and had some worries about whether or not she would eat the food on offer and where would we get milk from for her? There was no need to worry - she had a fabulous time, lots of variety at every meal time meant we always found things that she would eat, and she tried a lot of new things! The bar were more than happy to fill her cup with milk whenever requested. One slight concern on the food was my wife was ill for a couple of days during the holiday (ok, so can be caused by anything), but we felt that the most likely cause was the bolognese sauce which on later "inspection" did not appear to be kept at a very hot temperature in the bain-marie (it was warm to the touch).

Rooms were allocated on the first floor so we did not experience problems with the lift queue - though we did observe large queues for the lifts at times. We had 2 rooms on the booking and they were allocated opposite each other on the corridor. Rooms are "compact" but functional. We didn't spend much time in the room so the limited space on offer was not a problem during the day. The cot was "shoe-horned" into the room and required a little rearranging of the furniture to put the room "to our taste", but as the furniture was not fitted to the wall this hardly posed a problem. Rooms were cleaned to a good standard every day. There was no hair dryer in our room. The room safe was expensive to rent in my opinion; surely this essential facility should be included in the room price (with a key deposit)?

Pool and sunbeds : reading other reviews there appears to be mixed opinions on this. There are 3 pools. We spent most days round the children's pool where there was a lot of pressure on sunbeds as this is basically a family hotel. The "hotel rules" were that sunbeds could not be reserved before 8am but this was not policed. People were out in force at 6am with their towels, but some had been out before this. Why the stated policy was not policed I do not know and it was a little frustrating! There were plenty of sunbeds around all three pools, but the hotel do need to provide more umbrellas, to secure your perfect spot you had to be up early!

Location is great. Each evening we walked out into Palma Nova or Magaluf and took a different route. The beach is only a 1 minute walk from the hotel and I would recommend spending a couple of days at least on the beech. It's clean and the water is wonderfully clear. Toilets next to the beach are charged so be warned and take some money with you! Being near Magaluf there were quite a few people staying in the hotel and locality for the Club scene. There was some noise in the early hours as people made there way back through the streets to other hotels. Easily dealt with by closing the balcony door. Some inconsiderates in our hotel did appear to enjoy making noise as they wandered the corridors looking for their rooms (Friday and Saturday nights). It didn't spoil our holiday though!

The Flinstone theme was fun and not "in-your-face". Our daughter liked watching the characters wandering through the hotel.

Overall was had a fabulous holiday with the hotel meeting our needs and expectations. It's a family hotel; fun, functional, friendly. If that's what you expect you'll have a great time!

Room Tip: In the "Mirlos" pool view rooms do not get the afternoon sun on the balcony and are noiser...

We stayed at the Sol Mirlos Tordos in June for 11 nights as a family of four all inclusive, kids 2 & 4. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and these are the ups and downs as nowhere is perfect!

Arrived late and got allocated a first floor room in the Tordos block of the hotel with a view of a roof below. Could not opt to stay at the Mirlos as told it was fully booked even though when e-mailing in advance was told all was done on arrival. By reviews Mirlos rooms are better and were told by reps that the hotel tend to put families in the Tordos. Still don't know how you get in the Mirlos - must be a secret club?
Usual issues with sun beds being claimed in the early hours - most were gone by 05:30 one morning!
Very busy pool area even in June. Most guests are from UK so must be busy in peak season when schools are off.
Lifts were small and it was at capacity with a Phil and Teds buggy and 4 of us in it.

Tordos rooms are still perfectly adequate. Got room change as wasn't happy with view and was no problem for reception who were helpful and let me view room first. Clean with good sized family rooms, CBB's, and 4 single beds in our room worked well - pushed kids together and used long pillows provided to stop them rolling out of bed. Only 2 family rooms per floor, one by the noisy lift area and one at the end of the corridor. Would suggest away from lifts as only one room as a neighbour = less chance of noise through thin walls. We were in 835 so assume they all end in 35. Also high floor was good as lifts come to you empty as only one floor above. Some parents may be concerned at the height of the balcony though.
Pool was excellent!!!! Best we have visited and for young kids it was as good as being at a water park. Fountains, slides, buckets and shallow baby pool ticked all the boxes.
Three pools in total. One for activities, one gradually went for zero to deep, and the third in the kid zone. Kept couples away from noisy kids and families together.
Food was great. Variety to keep anyone happy and even between main meals you got a good snack experience with all breakfast foods going way after 10 and hot dogs after dinner hours.
Self service for drinks in restaurant cut time with Beer, Wine, Real Coke and juice etc. All staff helpful.
Bars had queue's during busy time but everyone stayed in a line and got served in reasonable time - 3 drinks per person max. Expect local beer, wine and spirits when all inclusive. Served slush puppy and lollies as part of all inclusive.
Entertainment was very good versus previous holidays. Few nights a week were external acts like Queen tribute, Chinese circus etc. which were good. The rest were run by the on-site team which were things like Disney tributes and Grease tribute. These were all mimed but well choreographed and had a kids disco from 20:30 before main show to amuse kids. Area fairly safe for them to run around but pool fairly close so get an early dinner and seats to keep an eye on them should be available.
Didn't sample any day activities but archery, air rifle, exercise bikes, table tennis, water polo, kids club......plenty to do.Kids loved Flintstone theme even if it is a bit out of date and larger than life characters from the show would appear throughout the day.
Near the hotel there is small playground and some rides available in the evening for a couple of Euro's each. plenty of restaurants/bars mostly geared towards older patrons. Beach is great with sand and clear water. Beds 4.50 Euro with umbrella extra 4 for the day. You could probably make it to Magaluf in 30 minutes on foot but nothing to see of note and the evening are an adult only environment.

We all loved it and for the price I am now wondering how to match it next year.....struggling!

Room Tip: High floor and family rooms furthest from the lifts

Just arrived back from this hotel generally we loved it
Bad points
Felt when we first arrived we wasnt giving enough info about the hotel and its facilities we had to work it out our selfs which didnt take long though but it would of been nice to get more info I only knew you could get a safe from reading it on here

The rooms were paper thin they must of been made of paper masche we could hear everything it sounds like they are in with you it wasnt a big thing but we have suffered from noisy neighbours st home didnt think we would get it here just glad I didnt have party animal s or Iwould of asked to be moved

The 2 small lifts are a nightmare we was on level 8 we walked down most times but when your doing this a few times a day its tiring it didnt help able bodied people were using the lift level3 and down we witnessed twice a small child fall out its pram and hit its head on the soild floor because the mother prob so sick of cramming in the lift used the stairs

Never ever got a seat in the entertainment area outside once when we was there so missed out on that very busy but we did get a seat in the inside area in mirlos hotel two eveningsfor a spanish
Band and a tom jones impersonator

Would of liked a small hairdyer provided instead of renting one but its doesnt mention hairdryer when you book so thats not their fault

Good points
The food was great 8am to 11pm great selection the colleagues there were real nice and kept busy with people leaving a total mess never had a problem getting a seat would of liked to get a fizzy drink before 10 but no big deal

Cleaness always cleaning maids did a ace job didnt expect them every day

Fab location close to centre of palma nova and magaluf plus the beach

Never saw any grumpy staff like some people say
Our travel rep was fab also
Great activitys during the day I did the aqua gym lol
We dont have kids but it seemed to have plenty for them if you do

Overall great hotel let down by small faults would recommend

We went to the tordos some years ago, looking at the reviews it hasn't got any better!.
The lifts were tiny there were only two of them and one was never working. We found the clientele in the hotel were to be polite rough diamonds( complete meat heads cough cough) with welsh,Scottish and Irish flags adorning many a balcony oh English ones too.
The hotel was far too small to accommodate the amount of people staying in it,with a pool the size of a postage stamp!.
The food was passable just although I wouldnt go expecting Jamie Oliver.
As soon as you arrive the flintstones theme is blaring out from yep a Flintstones kiddies ride out front, intact if you aren't a huge fan it is a bit like going to the local nutters house, who has obsessive collections. The entertainment when we were there was dreadful, not enough seating for everyone either.
Some of the children were utterly vile with no manners, mind you ,you did only have to look at the parents.
All in all I'd have to say yabba, dabba dont !!!!!
