“Fairly Good for a Lads Holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We stayed at this hotel over the last week of August, and I found there were both positives and negatives to the hotel. I left the holiday organisation to one of my friends; I hadn't read any reviews of the Honolulu before we went and literally didn't know what to expect. One of the positives of the hotel was the closeness to the strip, literally a 3-4 minute walk and you are slap bang in the middle (although the hotel is on quite a steep hill so you do have to counter that every time you leave). There is a shop at the bottom of the hill that has all neccessities that you may need, with a bar opposite that shows every single football game. The swimming pool is decent (it is actually opposite the hotel entrance), it has a water volleyball net across the middle and a bar next to the pool. We were all inclusive so we tried to make the most of the food; I only made breakfast once so I can't make much judgement (it wasn't good), lunch and dinner were definitely better. It is a standard buffet style set out, and the choice changes every day (apart from the standard chips, salad, cheese & ham etc.) One thing I would say about the food is that it does get luke-warm quickly, I'd advise you to go down as soon as it happens so the food is still piping hot. Some of the food was slightly offputting and we did find a hair or two in the steak and kidney pudding/lasagne but on the whole if you stick to the english-style food then you can't really go wrong. The all inclusive drinks were also impressive - the usual soft drinks (fanta orange & lemon, coke, diet coke, sprite), alcoholic drinks - they had red and white wine, local beer, and then the local spirits (vodka, gin, rum, whisky) you can serve yourself but if you want peach schnappes or other local spirits then you need to ask the staff behind the bar. Note - named brands and Red Bull you have to pay for. Staff - they were friendly and helpful, always cleared away your plate in the restaurant but expect the maid to come in the room at 10am every morning - they don't knock ! I've got a few complaints about the room: our balcony door was broken and didn't lock (our friend next door actually managed to climb over the balcony and break into our room) so check your door locks ! The lock on our bathroom door also didn't work, and the shower was terrible - it literally goes from hot to cold there is no medium. The hotel is quite loud in the early hours of the morning as guests come back (that didn't bother me) but if you want sleep then this hotel is not ideal. Overall, it is a decent hotel for a typical lads holiday but for the price we paid (which was quite a lot) then you can get better deals elsewhere. P.S - the 18-30 reps will try and get you to buy the clubbing writstband for 190 euros which gets you access each night into the 5 MCP clubs (one booze cruise, one foam party, one UV party etc.) on the strip - DON'T BUY IT !! If you get it you are massively restricted, the wristband doesn't include BCM and the reps will take you on bar crawls before each club; it's in the bars where they make loads of money from you. You can always pay for access to the five MCP clubs on the night (usually 25-35 euros with unlimited free drinks) and still enjoy the foam party or whatever else is on that night, instead of paying for a weekly wristband. Also, go to the Western Water Park !! (26 euros then a bit more for the locker) it is a right laugh and there are a lot of slides to choose from; don't bother buying a float because people leave them lying around.

Me and my best friend stayed at this hotel on the 13th of august for a week with 18-30's. I really dont know what everyone is complaining about!!

We loved it! food served all day which we both loved! different choices for the buffet and if we missed the serving time then you could have toasties or hot dogs which we yummy! also after the dinner buffet finished you could still help yourself to sandwiches from behind the bar! Drinks werent that strong but did the job and you just serve yourself which i liked! Drinks stopped at half 11 which was fine as we went out about that time.

Perfect location right next to the strip... yes theres a 2 second hill... get over it! (i did complain every time i walked up it lol but looking back it was fine!) The beach isnt
too far away .. 10 min walk.

The pool was really big and we always found a sunbed. The room was big enough for us and cleaned everyday. The entertainment team did try... did a few games at the pool and a few in the evenings.

We took 400 euro each with us for the week and that lastest us fine! We didnt pay for the 18-30's package we just did the booze cruise which was totally worth it! we just paid 25 euro each night which got us into the 5 main clubs and you got free drinks in there all night! Every night we started at Magaluf Rocks where you got 2 drinks 2 shots each and a fish bowl for 5 euro.

Amazing holiday and met some amazing people!! If I went to Magaluf again I would defo stay here :)

Room Tip: low floor!

Upon arrival we was dumped at the bottom of the hill and had to drag our suitcases up to the hotel with 20 odd steps. Paid for all inclusive but the food was terrible! We had to eat out every night. Hotel room was never cleaned properly, floor was never mopped/sweeped, bed sheets never changed. Mouthy lads coming in at half 5 in the morning chanting "we're from Essex" honestly I couldn't give a toss but we got woken up every night if you don't wear ear plugs. Only good thing about this hotel that there us a nice beach down the road from it. Also we didn't see any curb crawlers.

Me and my best friend went to this hotel back in june this year and loved every moment of it, previous reviews have complained about the hill being rediculous but there is a little walkway just round the corner of the hotel and to be honest unless your lazy and cant be bothered walking really isnt a problem. Good points are that theyre is always food available so if you miss breakfast from sleeping in you wont be hungry and the free serve yourself bar.
I had one of the best holidays ever here and would most definitely go back, staff always helpful even after you stumble in from a night out.
Definitely not a family hotel and would advise only the young and lively to go here.

Room Tip: the higher the floor the better the view.

Stayed here may bank holiday weekend for 3 nights, This was a cheap get away for the bank holiday. I stayed whilst the annual beach rugby tournament was on which was amazing, well worth a visit during this time.

Rooms very basic but clean although are in need of a bit of an update, but it served a purpose as didn't spend too much time in the hotel it was literally somewhere to rest the head after a heavy night. The lighting and lack of plug sockets in the room didn't serve very well for 2 girls trying to get ready for a night out it was a scrabble for who got the bathroom mirror first. Balcony a nice size with great sea views due to its elevated position.
Food was basic but cooked well.

The location of this hotel has a lot to be desired, due to its elevated position it is located up an hill, Killer Hill as we renamed it was hummm how shall we put this ... Interesting, especially after a night out. Although very close to the strip (as the crow flies) This hotel would be perfect if you would be able to cut through but as you have to walk around its not great.

All in all this isn't a bad hotel, a few minor adjustments needed, But if needed I would return.

The hotel in itself I cannot complain about. The staff were lovely, room basic but very clean, food fabulous variety, pool lovely, near beach... BUT I was astonished at how badly behaved the youngsters were here!! no respect for others staying at the hotel by throwing TV's, beds, furniture, bottles, vomit and urine over the balconies !!! I also saw the poor cleaner trying to sweep up the mess and being bombarded by items thrown by drunken youngsters!! I felt sorry for the staff having to put up with abuse and mess constantly !! my heart goes out to them.... If you are looking to relax on holiday do NOT come here!

Room Tip: try to get 1st floor!!

WARNING! DO NOT ENTER THIS HOTEL FROM HELL.

We spent a week in this absolute flea pit,

1) Road up to hotel is about 300yds long and probably one of the steepest hills i've ever had to climb.
2) Entry to the hotel is via 22 very steep steps (and this is after the steep hill)
3) 2 Lifts to serve 8 floors (1 is usually out of order, and both are usually swimming in beer)
4) Rooms are very basic.
5) Bed linen was changed almost every day but covers which were stained didn't get changed all the time we were there.
6) Little uninvited friends (cockroaches) visited us a few times in our rooms during our stay.
7) Was advised to keep the balcony door shut when we were out, to stop anyone from climbing over from other flats.
8) Couldn't shut the balcony door as the frame was warped.
9) Room was sweltering hot as the air conditioning didn't work properly.
10) Had to keep the balcony door closed as good as we could as the noise from Magaluf kept us awake all night.
11) Used condoms were lying on ground outside steps to the lounge, saw them on day one and they were still there the day we came home.
12) The pool was a no go area as the weans completely took over with there drinking competitions and general bad behavior. (We watched one yob running about completely naked
as we sat eating our lunch in the dining room)
13) The bar is overrun by 18 to 30 clubs as soon as it is opened, and you have to queue for a drink most of the time right up to closing time.
14) Hotel entertainment is non existent unless you want to take part in drinking competitions and these are run by the entertainments manager who told me the only way she can sleep is to get drunk first (every picture tells a story)

The only good comments i have about this place is, the staff were very polite and helpful and the food was excellent..
