“Sophisticated cooking in a relaxed informal setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

We ate inside on this visit as it was too cold to eat in the lovely garden which is a feature of this place. However, the dining room was perfectly OK: spacious and well stocked with contemporary paintings.
My starter was a warm salad of foie gras served with spring asparagus and a dark, caramelised sauce. Really very good and the asparagus perfectly cooked. My wife had the lobster raviois which were sensational.
Our main course was slightly more complicated and a test of skill: turbot stuffed with squid, baby leeks and vegetable wafers. The turbot was perfectly cooked and the whole dish looked and worked perfectly.
A wider selection of desserts than we'd seen locally, including a carpaccio of pineapple.

Atmosphere was relaxed and service attentive (if a little theatrical, with the main server putting on and taking off white gloves to serve or take away plates/take orders!) and very friendly and informal. At EU 190, reasonably priced for a meal of this quality with a bottle of ice cold albarino

“Worth the excursion!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

I know it's not in the city, I know you need to go the extra mile to go to Deia... But for us the trip was worth it. Josef Sauerschell deserves the Michelin star - it was the best dinner from our stay in Mallorca. Can't compare with other Micheline-star rated restaurantes - as most of them were closed - but I visited the top rated restaurants on the island and this was the best. We love going to the top restaurants and this was really a very good one. Did not enjoyed the atmosphere that match, but the service and the food - what else do you want from a restaurant - was really good.
Will visit again in our next trip to Mallorca!

“Great food and fantastic ambiance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

A really nice tapasrestaurant right in the middle of Deia. It is good both for lunch, afternoondrinks or dinner. The outside seatings are fantastic. You sit in a garden full of candlelights. Food is great and there is lots to chose from. They have all classic tapas but also some surprises. We had dinner here several times during our one week stay in Deia and was very satisfied every time.

“Worth every penny?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

We were in on a Saturday night in October and it was quiet. The setting is beautiful but there was a rarefied silence that wasn't right and we seemed to be sitting in some sort of outside air conditioning draft. The service was excellent but somehow the formal white gloves routine feels a bit outdated. The food was very good but not to the extent where your mouth is blown away with taste and you can't actually talk for the experience each mouthful brings. The Mediterranean fish soup was lovely with chunky white fish and the sea bass was good too...but the 'blown away' factor was missing. Little uninspired by desserts and would have liked something more inventive for the chocolate pudding - disappointed at the lack of local seasonal fruit used. All very good and to a high standard but wouldn't be my first choice in Deia - that certain something was missing. Probably the least inspired Michelin restaurant I have been to (only been to a couple though!)
