“Superb location and views, superb value, a perfect Deia experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2010

The Hostel is probably the best located accommodation in Deia, just down from the Church and with fantastic views. The owners have retained an old fashioned Spanish feel to the lovely buildings and the whole place is charming. The rooms are indeed simple, but in a traditional way, with little private terraces to some. Breakfast is served on individual trays of bread, juice, yoghurt and eating it on the main terrace is delightful (and if breakfast is too plain for you just pop down to the local deli and add some bits). The point of the Hostel Villa Verde is that it is half the price of anywhere else, has the best location, fantastic views, and is a perfect base for exploring Deia and its excellent restaurants. E80 for a double room with shower and terrace and wine at E6 a bottle in this stunning spot gets my vote every time. The next nearest rate is almost double that - so save the E80 and use it to dine at 'Sebastians' in the village, another amazing gem!!

Absolutely awful hotel (if you can even call it that!). The only thing going for it was the views! The rooms are terrible, small and dark with what can only be described as basic furniture. The beds were hard as were the pillows and I couldn't wait to leave the hotel. The breakfasts were disgusting - you help yourself to a "Tray" of food which was prepared the night before and consisted of a bit of bread, some butter, a "basic" Carrefour yoghurt and some juice which was sour and off.

I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!

Spent there a week. Could be a very charming and romantic hide-away BUT:
shower curtain was dirty, wall paint in the bathroom was peeling off, shower head was calcified and dirty; towels were exchanged only twice in the whole week, bathroom made the impression of not being cleaned at all the whole week;
service almost non-existent, staff (besides the owner) does not speak English (or any other language besides Spanish). No sense of style what so ever (blue cheap plastic trays for breakfast in a country style 17th century house?!)
Extremely basic, would only recommend staying there for 1 to 2 nights when traveling - as it is indeed very affordable and beautifully located.

This is a basic hotel (they actually call it a Hostal) but in a beautiful location and an old world rustic charm.
It seemed quite french to us.
Breakfast was the same every morning and the service was incredibly understated.
However in the end we liked it and would go back.

We would have to disagree with the other statements, we found this hotel disappointing and overpriced. The pillows were the worst ever, we slept badly. The breakfast was minimal and served on a tray for you to help yourself.
The experience was more like a hostel than hotel.
The positives are the beautiful location near the church in Deia, and we found it quiet and peaceful.
With a little more effort this could be a much more pleasant experience for guests.

A lovely traditional village house with stupendous views.
Simple basic and yet refined. We were accomodated in the main house which is very traditional.
Breakfast on the terrace is a wonderful way to start the day.
For value for money it cannot be beaten in Deia.

We just had a fabulous long weekend in Deia staying at the Villa Verde. The hotel is spread out down the hillside on several levels in the middle of beautiful Deia. We had room 21- spotlessly clean, high ceilings, very pretty . The highlight of the room was its own private little terrace- this was So cute- a sort of semi circular, cosy little hideaway, really secluded and a perfect place to sit and read and enjoy the view across the valley. The only one fault was that it faced the road so you do see some traffic and hear some road noise- but- we live in a really quiet place so are Extremely sensitive to this- and it all was totally gorgeous despite the road.
A simple , but perfectly fine ,breakfast (bread, jam, coffee, juice and little cakes) is included in the price and served on one of the upper terraces under lovely shady trees.
It is worth pointing out that access to a lot of the rooms does involve a lot of walking up and down steep steps- 50 to our room! Deia itself is a very steep village- we felt very fit on our return! Fabulous ,quiet and unspoilt village with amazing restaurants (We had a gorgeous meal on my birthday in the garden at Sa Vinya)
Would definitely recommend both the village and Villa Verde.
