“Best location in Can Pastilla”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights on an all inclusive basis, hotel was kept clean constantly, location could not be better-over the road from the beach / marina and 2 minutes walk to shops. Good standard / variety of food and drink on offer. This is very much an adults / couples hotel as the pool is quite small and noise is kept to a minimum.

Room Tip: Room 209 good sea view

We've just arrived back after four night all inclusive break over christmas and I very nearly cancelled the trip after reading all the negative reviews, THANK GOODNESS I DIDN'T!!! It was excellent value for money. The hotel is spotlessly clean the all inclusive drinks are NOT served in plastic cups and there is a good choice of food. Always found something to eat and their slow cooked roast pork with crackling is to die for.... We had a standard sea view room and the view was lovely. If you want KFC, burger king and cottage pie with gravy, don't go to this hotel. Would have no qualms about going to this hotel again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view, well worth it.

arrived for a 3 night stay and after scanning passports were told they were fully booked even though we had booked in early october . we were offered hotel way out off resort which we completely refused as we had picked this hotel for its position in resort which we have been to many tlimes.after a stand off and calls to easyjet hols.in the UK we accepted a compromise of 1 night at the marina luz in resort and 2 nights at the iberostar royal cupido in playa palma, although we were downgraded to half board from All Inclusive as these two hotels are superior ! although all hotels mentioned above are 4 STAR ! ! ! ? ? ? We have allready booked to return to Las Arenas in March 2013 through Travel Republic so hopefully hotel can redeem themselves ! Therefore cannot comment on Hotels facilities but Reception Staff did there best to help but couples checking in along side us accepted other hotel offered quickly as there was no other options. As we were still in resort that night we returned to reception and observed people still checking in !

I would agree with many of the reviewers that this hotel is very overrated. The hotel is one of the few open at this time of the year, and it was full with older Spanish and German tour parties.

Most of the people were on all inclusive holidays. This meant that quantity was the policy as opposed to quality. The cooked breakfast was cold, and we experienced the worst cooked eggs I have ever seen. The vending menus I'd not change, and the food was still Luke warm. Having stayed in many hotels in Spain this year, this food was definitely the worst.

There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room, and the television has only one channel in English (five or six in German). The swimming pool, which is outside is tiny for such a big hotel.

The hotel is in a good position and some of the staff are very good, but it is a noisy hotel and you can hear everything happening next door to you.

It is definitely not a four star hotel. Would definitely not return there.

Room Tip: Junior suites do give you more room, but are still noisy, as walls are thin.

We stayed for one week from 28th October 2012. We booked through lowcostholidays.com. Flight with Ryanair was the usual lacking in customer service. We booked reserved seats on the plane and on both the outward bound and inward bound flights we found the flight staff giving our seats away and we had to ask for people to move. So although you have reserved seats, Ryanair staff are happy to give them away if you're not at the front of the queue to claim them...abysmal!

Ca'n Pastilla is less than a 20 mins coach journey from the airport so it was nice to be booking in the hotel and unpacked within an hour of departing the airport. The Hotel is in a good location with the beach in front of the hotel and overlooking a lovely bay with a small marina.

Reception staff we found very helpful and friendly. We booked a room with a sea view and it was worthwhile paying the little extra for the view although the drawback was traffic noise. Our room was overlooking the main road where coaches would drop off and pick up residents of the hotel. This was not too bad but in the early hours of the morning the drumming of an old diesel engine which can be clearly heard in your room was irritating. The room were basic but clean....no tea or coffee making facilities are provided. The decor of the rooms especially the bathroom are in dire need of updating.

The rest of the hotel is decorated in tiled walls and floors so not looking too bad. Outside the hotel was a patio area which ran around outside the hotel and was a perfect place to sit in the sun.

The restaurant was a source of disappointment as the food was not great. In line with other reviewers I can confirm that the food is generally cold or lukewarm at best. There was no warming of plates and the only chance of obtaining anything hot was from the freshly cooked counter where meats or fish was being offered. However any vegetables that you subsequently put on your plate were lukewarm. The variety of food on offer was geared towards the continental taste but that did not concern me I was happy to find something palatable. Unlike some reviewers I did find the staff friendly and helpful.

In terms of the bar and its staff; I was on AI and all drinks are served in plastic (less than half pint) containers. You only served a drink in a glass if you were actually handing over money for it. Whilst the serving of drinks in plastic containers was in the evenings disappointing with having to make several trips to the bar due to the size of the containers. There was an advantage during the day as you are able to take your drinks outside the hotel and walk along the promenade or sit on the benches enjoying the sun and the views whilst having a drink. Some of the staff were friendly and helpful especially the younger ones but the older members of the team were not so forthcoming with their pleasantries. The entertainment at night was not great and watch out for the €10 bingo tickets for a day at their own spa!

I took advantage of the excellent public transport service on taking trips. We caught the No.15 bus to Palma (€1.50) and then caught the Sightseeing Tour Bus which you can hop on and hop off and cost €14 each. It was a good way to see the city which is quite large. Another trip involved catching the No.30 bus to the Railway Station in Palma and taking the vintage train to Stoller and then the tram to Puerto de Stoller. The train and tram journey cost €28 each for the combination ticket and is worth doing for the views alone.

There is also a tourist train in the resort of Ca'n Pastilla which cost €4 each and it takes you to S'Arenal and back. The stop is just across the road from the hotel. There are lots of shops in Ca'n Pastilla for the ladies to browse and shop.

Would I go back to Ca'n Pastilla?.....I'm not sure...I have seen all I have to see there and it is a bit too quiet.

Would I go back to Hotel Las Arenas?....No I would not.....it is in a great location but the rest is less than great..

Just back from this hotel 10/11/12 the views are great, short journey from Palma Airport, that is the only thing that this hotel has going for it.
I would rate it 2 plus, the food was appalling we have been to many hotels on a 3 star basis and were treated like royality, you wont get that here, staff are rude in dining room, the food is very substandard, always cold, drink in the all inclusive package are all only their own cheap brands, we paid for a deluxe room with seaview, on arrival we were allocated a room looking at a wall ! 30 hrs later we got the room that we paid for.
Plastered up wall in corridors, old nylon shower curtains, old bath towels with a notice please use your towels 2-3 times before asking for clean ones, drinking water bottles being refilled by the waiters from the juice gun after being lifted from the meal tables, and stuck in fridge with the old lids put back on. No entertainment ever, no snacks were ever presented. THE ONLY WAY THIS HOTEL GOT ITS STARS IS BECAUSE OF THE VIEW. Would never recommend this hotel !

Room Tip: Front seaview/marina would be a must for this hotel.
