“Fantastic Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

What a great place for a chillout holiday - 10 mins from the airport, hotel perfect, beach and sea amazing - so safe, families still swimming in the sea at midnight! Nice bars, restaurants, no music blurring out of bars, no restaurants hounding you to eat there - so friendly. Could walk safely for miles on the promenade. Bus or cab into Palma, 10 mins in cab, 20 by bus. Well worth a visit in the evening or the train into Soller for a day trip, wonderful place to go! Thinking of going back very soon!!

Room Tip: Did not have a sea view so would aim for that next time.

I was pleasantly surprised how modern the hotel is.
Hotel is about 7 minutes away from airport (minimum charge for taxi to hotel is €13 - even if taxa meter ticks for a slightly lower rate)
You will see and hear the planes flying out/in of Palma but this was no issue for us as you will get used to it and we made a guessing game out of it. (what airline?)

Staff are friendly and helpful.
Hotel is clean although in between days when staying, they did more of a tidy up than an actual clean in the room.

Would not recommend to bring your kids when staying at this hotel if you do not intend to engage with them. Saw way too many parents neglecting their child/children that played alone in the pool while parents sat and read the paper or book in the sun. Not very many kids around for them to play with. I am sure there are other hotels with proper "children's club" with activities.

Pool is clean and sunbeds available throughout the day although I preferred being at the beach. Snack bar only serves drinks, pizza and a ham sandwich och some crisp.

Room:
Newly renovated, comfy beds, fridge available and a security box (for a fee)
Shower room is slightly small and has a too big basin for my liking. Hotel provides toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, razors with shaving cream and shampoo and shower gel in sachets. Hair dryer available as well.
We reserved a room with sea view which was worth it and lovely to see the sun set every evening.
TV available in room with many channels. (English channels such as ITV, ITV4 and BBC)

Wifi: read some review that there was wifi in reception area but you need to pay for it to get access to it in your room. We never tried to get wifi - we were on holiday and didn't feel the need to keep ourselves updated about what is happening on the social networks etc as we wanted a holiday away from things.....

Read that someone complained about no double bed but that there was two single bed pushed together instead. This is what I understand a standard in Europe (coming from the Nordics myself) so I guess some people are just not very well traveled.

Breakfast: Pretty basic continental but also some fry-ups available (chips, beans, sausages, bacon, eggs)

Dinner changes everyday (drinks not included) with varied quality. Wasn't great but definitely edible and plenty to choose from.

Hotel main clientele are Germans but there were plenty of Norwegians and Swedes as well (which could for the untrained ear be mistaken for Germans)

Hotel is about 2 minutes from the beach. A pharmacy is available between hotel and beach, plenty of restaurants/cafe/bars and also a SPAR supermarket close to the beach. Takes about 15 min forth and back to SPAR.

All in all, we enjoyed Can Pastillia - who stays inside the hotel that much anyway when you have a lovely beach around the corner.

Room Tip: Definitely worth having a room with a sea view

Stayed here for 5 days and was very pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. The rooms are spotless and modern with comfortable beds great shower etc. I noticed previous comments about lack of storage as the rooms are very minimlistic with shelving and alcove for storage but i did not find this a problem to be honest, but if you were here for 2 weeks i guess you would need to keep on top of keeping your room tidy etc. The food was plentyful with a lot of variety and show cooking at dinner. The outside areas were spacious with couches, tables ,chairs, but a bit tight for space around the pool area. I would highly recommend this hotel as suitable for couples maybe not for families with small children.

Room Tip: we did not book a sea view but they looked good so would book one next time we visit.

BQ Apolo is a great hotel in everyway.
The rooms are modern, clean, bright and if you get a sea view room some of the best views i have ever experienced. The area of Can Pastilla is spotless, vibrant, scenic and has good food on offer from many establishments.
Our room in this hotel was well sized, always cleaned to a very good standard, totally modern decor throughout. The bed was so good, i had a great sleep every night. The staff are incredibly helpful and always willing to help where possible. The baggage area and shower facilities for the last day are much needed and appreciated. The pool areas are really clean and never over populated due to the beautiful sandy beach being on the door step. This is an area much the same as Le Arenal that has a heavy population of Germans, and although they don't often crack a smile we found them affable and had a good night out in Arenal with them. I would say the BQ Apolo is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Just returned home on 10/07/2013 from a 2 week stay at this hotel.
Literally a 5 minute transfer to the airport - perfect. Planes flying overhead (frequently) very quickly become the norm, and we were not troubled by this at all.
Newly refurbished in Winter 2012 apparently. It is very clean and ordered, fabulous location within 100 metres of the beach, shops and restaurants, but quiet.
It is worth every penny of paying the extra for a room with a sea view, which is excellent, many sunsets observed from an adequate balcony.
Breakfast is plentiful, with adequate choice.
If I had a criticism about the fact that this has been upgraded from a 3 to a 4 star hotel, it would be that although we booked a double room, and therefore expected a double bed, it is in fact 2 single beds pushed together. Also for a 4 star hotel I would have expected free wi fi to be available throughout the hotel, and not just free in the hotel reception area, otherwise to be purchased as a separate entity.....

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view, if possible!

CLOSE TO THE BEACHES, RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS.

I stayed at recently renewed BQ Apolo Hotel about 100 meters from the sea, on June 23 for a week, room 415, with a full sea view, in Can Pastilla, an international touristic center, which I had reserved through Booking.com.

A potential 4star beach hotel in a residential area, well organized, clean, and calm. It has an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant, an outdoor and indoor bar, and a fitness hall with an indoor pool. A five to ten minutes walk to the restaurants, shopping centers and public beaches.

I have two remarks which can greatly improve the standing of the Hotel.
1.- The rooms are not well furnished. There are no closets nor drawers. The clothes (and under-wears) are exposed as if it is a supermarket. The General Manager, Mr. Miguel, a very experienced and dynamic person
I have noticed, is aware and I was told that he will solve the problem this winter, I will not be surprised if he raises the room rates. 2- The self-service (buffet) restaurant is underground. No view, mediocre and monotonous food, not appetizing. There is a huge terrace on the ground-floor, an indoor and outdoor area between the pool and the bar, with tables, sofas and chairs, which is rarely used. This can be transformed into an "a la carte" restaurant for dinner and possibly for lunch (with a competent cook!), so the clients will enjoy THE FOOD AND THE SEA VIEW.

Except for the unequipped room and the quality of the food, my rating, instead of "very good" would have been "excellent". All the members of the staff are well-trained, competent and very polite, starting from the front-desk officers (with his suggestion I had dinner in Rancho Picadero, Zee, El Patio and can recommend them for those who appreciate good meals); the bar; the room maids; the maitre d'hotel and his team.

I have stayed in a Playa de Palma hotel. It is for the young tourists who seek animation and noise. I prefer my Can Pastilla Hotel, which combines calm, and if you wish walk 10 minutes for nightlife.

Room Tip: I repeat. For those who can afford pay a bit more. It is really worth.

We stayed from 19-24 June 2013. Bar prices very reasonable. Very close to the amenities and bus stop is about 400 metres (Palma & Airport Bus 21). We did Bed and Breakfast and it was fine...next time we'd try half board.
WiFi throughout would have been nice...as would a room kettle. We usually stay in the nearby Luz Marina....also a 4 star..but who wants to risk a room at their prices looking into a back yard of barking dogs, and snotty staff if you complain?
It's a holiday hotel, and I think they have got most of the re-furb about right. Staff were very helpful and always a smile for you!

Room Tip: Rooms on the southside tend to be quieter (it is near the airport)
