“Honest opinion! Brilliant!!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Finally getting round to leaving this review , me and my cousin (17-30) travelled to the island of mallora in July 2012.We was abit worried after booking the hotel at all the reviews we read on here.
Transfer - I heard alot of reviews on here saying the transfer took up to 3 hours , going to the hotel we got picked up in a mini bus with not many people in and it took us around 1 hour and 15 minutes to arrive to the hotel. The transfer on the way back picked us up at 1:15 am in the morning and we got to the airport at 2.00am not long at all !

Hotel - when we checked into the hotel we were hoping that we would be in the chihuahua or mastines not the balmoral. We were put into the Mastines!! The chihuahua looked nice to but wasnt keen on the balmoral looked awful from outside !

The hotel its self was lovely ,very clean but please be aware marble floors are everywhere!(very slippy)the hotel had internet acess in the chihuahua hotel 2 euros for 15 minutes.
We we were put on the 2nd floor room 217 lovely view of the sea and pool, the room was basic but good size. The mastines had the sun all day and evening which was lovely when sitting on the balcony in the evening.
We didnt really stay for any of the entertainment at the hotel apart from bingo one night and robbie williams tribute which were o-kay ! they did have entertainment each night but we didnt really feel like staying in the hotel.
also the room has no fridge or hairdryer and i must say thankyou to the maid who cleaned our room everyday.

Pool - We mainly stayed around the main pool , people were qing in the morning to get sunbeds we didnt want to do that.It was abit of a struggle to get a sunbed as the pool area is really busy but we did get one in the end.The pool area shuts quit later in the evening the hotel staff never told us to leave the area.

Food - Im such a fussy eater and i was dreading the food, but i was so shocked with the amount of choice there was.
breakfast - cakes , cooked breakfast , omlettes , fresh bread,fruit,yoghurts,doughnuts etc
lunch/dinner - pizza,fish,pork,chips,chicken,curry,cakes,salads,bread and loads more!

Drink - so much drinks to choose from and very good measures too i would say half and half!
you was allowed 2 drinks per person which wasnt a problem for us and the q's when down really quick!
in the day time there was a few bars open where you can get drinks, icecream ,slushes from around the pool.

staff - i didnt really have that much problem with any of the staff apart from one old chap in the mastines hotel dinning room, my cousin had got a cup of tea and took it outside to drink on the patio just by the restaurant, next minute the man came up to us grabbed the cup of tea and took it off us come on he could of tolded us to take the drink it inside .This was our first day so we didnt know we could take our food/drink outside.
Also i went to help my self to a drink in the dinning room i was half way filling my cup up and the man turned off the machine he could clearly see i was filling my cup up.

On the other hand i celebrated my birthday out there and i had a knock at the door in the evening and a member of staff brought me a bowl of sweets and an ice cold bottle of water with a letter from the manager wishing me a happy birthday ! this was so nice. Also one night i put my dress on the balcony and it blew off and landed below our room and i told the receptionist and a man came up around 15 minutes later and got it for me.

around the resort - there are 2 lovely beaches the bigger beach about 15 minutes walk away by hotel america which is lovely crystal clear water. There is also another beach just by the hotel i went there one evening for a walk really nice also they have a beach party every friday night which is good atmosphere with fire dancer. But please beware walking down to this beach at night is awful about 100's steps with no handle to hold and no lights ! (DONT WEAR HEELS)

bars/restaurants/shops etc - we mainly decided to go out at night time as the hotel hasnt got much to offer ,we always started out at a bar called d'afils which is really good karoke til 12am waiters and bar staff really friendly .We also went to a club called jupiters which was okay not that busy but met some lovely people here.We also went to a club called tiffanys which was really good, it doesnt really get started til 1am.Music they played was really good mixed between spanish and english with all the spanish locals and english too partying in there ! had such a good time at this place some nights didnt end up leaving this place til 5 am.

all together i had a really good time and i would return to this hotel, dont panic the hotel isnt bad as some of these reviews say !! we payied £288 all inclusive for 5 nights cant complain!
But you can eat in any of the hotels we did they never check your wrist bands.
oh and also before i forget the weather was AMAZING!

Room Tip: pool/sea view is a must!!!!

The staff were really friendly and helpful, there was some people playing music really loud and singing and shouting really late at night, but the staff dealt with it straight away, on arrival they asked us what floor we would like to stay on which is good because then we didn't have to carry 2 kids and 3 suitcases up the stairs, great food, amazing entertainment (kids hour, Greece performance, quizzes, fame performance, everything was cleaned to a good standard, kids made a lot of friends, they even had an on site hair salon! I strongly recommend this hotel!! We will definitely be going back there.

The hotel is of a very good standard however with little renovation since the 1980's however this adds to its charm. We stayed all inclusive - the drinks were good though at times watered down and the food was great but repetitive every night. We stayed for a week and it was exactly the same grub each night which was annoying however the selection is large so we found a new concoction each day!
Chihuahuas looked the better hotel rather than Mastines - you are not assigned a room until you get there (so the earlier you get there the better.)

Room Tip: Get a sea view room - seriously if you get one the other way you could have metal in the way! Higher...

Well if you could time travel back to the early 80's you would be staying in a top class Spanish hotel. Of it's time but we found that part of it's charm. We stayed half board, self serving buffet, the food was as you would expect "budget" but well cooked and tasty so no complaints. I upgraded to free drinks with evening meal which to be honest you needn't do if you visit the supermarket or local bars. The day staff were excellent and friendly, the night staff were a different breed, don't bother except for the security man who we didn't meet until leaving in the early morning, he was very courteous. 2 Chilly outdoor pools one warm indoor, shame the hotel casts a shadow over the pool areas in the afternoon, we sun bathed by the pool bars (closed) where the sun lingered longest. The view from the rooms takes the whole place to another level, 99% have wonderful east sea views, watching the sun rise over the horizon was magical. Would I stay again? I'm already looking to book!

holiday at this hotel was like last year great but we did go in Oct and the only moan was the
entertainment in the evening out of seven nights just two shows but then free Bingo to win a cheap bottle of plonk very boring but that aside hardly queued for drinks except at 12-55 am
for last orders.Staff very good food as usual plentiful with food available all day until 11 pm.
we will go again

Room Tip: ask for rooms above the poolside bar sunny all day

My boyfriend went on a week's holiday all inclusive to Sol Calas de Majorca in October 2011. Staff were friendly - our check in and out was efficient and stress free. Staff spoke English but I think they appreciated that we tried to interact with them in Spanish, even if it was just to say 'Ola' instead of 'Hello'. Rooms were clean and the maids did a good job cleaning every day. Pools were well kept and inviting. Food was good with a wide variety every day, staff in the dining room were friendly and helpful. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. The hotel is nice and close to the local beaches and in walking distance to the little town center where there are lots of little bars and cafes.
The entertainment was alright and was made better by the never-ending supply of strong drinks from the all inclusive bar. We really enjoyed Bingo nights.
All in all we had an enjoyable week away!

Room Tip: Higher floors have a lovely view (we stayed in the Chihuahuas building)
