“A great pizza place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

Dr. Ho's is just off Rt. 29 in North Garden . They offer the usual pizzas, along with some great specialty pies. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

“Farm to Fork Pizza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

This is hands down the best pizza in the Charlottesville area. Recently, my husband and I went with a friend to eat at the establishment (normally, we just order carryout). Believe me, I know that the last thing many people would expect next to a dive gas station in the middle of nowhere is a phenomenal pizza joint. However, this is, indeed, the case. The restaurant seating area is pretty small and cozy, but the service is very good. We ordered a 16" pizza, half Jack London (super meaty: bacon, sausage, pepperoni, etc.) and half cheeseburger (I forget what they call this). The crust is crispy--it's not a cracker yet it's not overwhelming in volume. The toppings are generous and flavorful, and the garlic bread, which we ordered, is just as large as a medium pizza--complete with roasted garlic cloves and loads of melted cheese. The service was great, the people are friendly, and it's just a relaxing local place that my husband and I really enjoy. Our friend had never been here and he was really impressed with the quality, taste, and value of the food. We are as well, and this is why we will continue to bring our business to this place. The restaurant's location is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from the 29/250 bypass intersection in Charlottesville, and it's well worth the drive.

“Love the place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Great pizza!!! Loved the crust and toppings! You can't help but want more! Will definitely be back. The side ceasar salad was delicious also!

This is definitely worth a visit! You will love the place. A 14" pizza with one item was about $15 and some change. The specialty pizzas were a couple dollars more. Not exactly Domino's prices but well worth the extra cost.

The place is fairly small and tables/booths are close to each other. Not a problem for us! If you are in the Charlottesville area, out this on your "to do" list!

“Excellent pizza- very original combos and other good non-pizza food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

We tried Dr. Ho's after reading several places that it was the best pizza in the Charlottesville area. We started with one of the appetizer specials- southeastern eggrolls. We weren't sure what they expect but they were incredible. Could have had a whole meal of them; even our 6 yr-old son who is very picky liked them. We also had pizza which was great; the crust was by far the best we have had since leaving the NY/NJ area 2 years ago. Service was good. They also had a good beer selection.

“Interesting place, great pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

First the food -- delicious. This is the authentic, thin-crust type of pizza. We had a half Popeye (spinach, caramelized onions, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, mozzarella, cheddar, feta) and half Lil Mermaid (shrimp, house made basil pesto, roasted tomatoes, cheddar, feta, mozzarella cheese). Both were fantastic, but I gave the Lil Mermaid a slight edge. They don't volunteer it, but apparently locals know to ask for the whole wheat crust -- even better than white, they say.

The place itself -- If you were blindfolded until you got inside, you would think you were in downtown Charlottesville. Instead, it's in a small corner of a big white strip mall/gas station several miles south of town. Inside it's "cozy," with not a whole bunch of tables, and the place is busy (even up till closing time, which is surprisingly early at 9 p.m.) It has a hippie-like feel (syn. bohemian? "natural"?).

Only reason I don't give it a 5 is because the dishes weren't very clean. The plates felt like they had a thin layer of invisible gunk on them. But (shrug) it was invisible, and kinda went with the hippie-feel. It was great food, and we didn't get sick or anything, so they must have it figured out. :-)

We stayed in the area just one night -- but if we would have stayed longer, I definitely would have gone back (wife: for the vegetable lasagna highly rated by our B&B host).
