This was our first visit to Spain, and we could not have chosen better. (using Trip Advisor again). We, that is my husband, son 23 yrs, daughter slightly older, and me, wanted to spend a week away, somewhere close but warm as a last family holiday. I picked Majorca as it appeared to be cheaper and only 2 hours flight time. The Oasis was a real find. It was clean, tidy, towels changed daily except Sundays as well as rooms cleaned. The breakfasts were exceptional and Mario Junior was an excellent waiter, he was able to remember what we ordered even though we tend to be very different in our likes and dislikes, and although full english breakfast wasn't the daily substance there was sufficient to keep us all, and that includes the youngest member of our party, going for most of the day.
We had a room with 2 double bedrooms and a little outer room with a table and chairs and the bathroom leading off that. As it was my husbands birthday on the Saturday we arrived I had contacted the Hotel to ask for a bottle of champagne to be available. It was bought upstairs in an ice bucket with 4 champagne glasses and was very nice, hic! On the Sunday we stayed around the pool which was small but adequate for the size of the hotel with enough sun beds and parasols to cope with the customers. it was also very quiet, clean and tidy. Although the sun beds were a little uncomfortable lilo's had been left by previous customers so we had use of these to act as mattresses. The following day we tried the beach, which is 2-3 minutes walk away from the hotel. Beautiful sandy bay which looked packed but there was plenty of room in the sea, with pedaloes available. The only quibble we had about the beach was the cost of sun beds. Although there were plenty, 2 per parasol, the parasols were rigid and could not be moved around with the sun, which when you have a family of red heads did cause a few red patches on us all but no sun burns, and it cost 26 Euro's for 2 parasols, which I thought was rather excessive.
The rest of the area was taken up by the usual gift shops, restaurants and bars with the odd clothes shop thrown in for a change. Food prices varied a great deal from quite high end expensive places to more moderate prices, we usually spent about 50 euros for an evening meal and drinks for 4 but that didn't include desserts or ice cream or coffee.
After an evening meal we tended to do a bit of window shopping and then returned to the hotel for a coffee and a pint for the boys. The hotel did do meals and snacks but we didn't have any so I cannot comment however the times when other customers had eaten, the meals looked good.
Over all i was very happy with our choice of hotel and location but I do have a word of warning regarding transfers. I organised our transfers via the agency we booked the hotel through and that was a disaster. We arrived in Palma at 13.00 hours on Saturday. It took nearly half an hour to find the right kiosk to be then sent to another where we were eventually given the number of bus we required. We found the bus easily, put our cases in and then sat, and sat, and then sat some more on a hot bus with no explanations as to why we weren't moving.Another couple of passengers arrived while we were waiting and eventually we arrived at the hotel at 6pm. No time to explore, thank goodness for the champagne. On the return transfer the flight left at 09.55 we were picked up at 05.30, no time for breakfast or even a hot drink, nothing available till we reached the airport at 08.30. In all the travelling cost us 2 whole days off our holiday plus the cost of 4 breakfasts I was not happy about that but the flights by Ryan Air were excellent, it is the first time I have flown with Ryan Air and was not expecting much at all but was pleasantly surprised. I will certainly fly with them again if the occasion arises with no qualms.
In conclusion, the hotel was much better than expected, the staff were excellent friendly and helpful and the location was also excellent. I am sure that if you go expecting 5 star facillities and service you will be disappointed, it is a basic hotel at a basic price so you get what you pay for but a little extra as well.
