“nice relaxing holliday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

Stayed here in June 24 th for 7 days on half board basis (bed ,breakfast and dinner ) the staff were all very helpful and pleasent .The room was clean and tidy and housekeeping and towl change was done on a daly basis .When we arrived at lunch time we decided to check if we could trade lunch for dinner ,this was no problem an we did this on two more occasions. The hotel is in a very central location ,within five minutes walk are fifty -sixty resturants and bars ,the marina is 10 minutes walk and the beach is only a few minutes in the other direction .The only down side is there were not enough canopies for the sun loungers and the pool side area could have done with a sweep and wash more regulary (in the 7 days i was there i did not see this done ).I would recomend this hotel to anyone .

Room Tip: Not all rooms have aircon.and fans ask travel agent.Needed in high temp

We stayed at this hotel on the 18th June 12 for a week half board.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, 2 minutes walk to the main square however far enough to not hear any noise. It is also less than a minute to the beach.

Cala d'or itself is a lovely place - lots of nice restaurants and very clean. The marina is spectacular!

We had a room overlooking the car park at the side of the hotel and were awoken two mornings with the man in the adjacent shop buffing his floor!! This said the room was immaculately clean and had a fridge in the room. The hairdryer didnt work so ladies probably worth taking your own!

The food was of a good quality however not much choice - we only ate in the hotel 3 of the evenings we were there although did have breakfast each day! The price of the drinks in the restaurant is extortionate - 7 euros for 2 Coke's! 3.5 euros for a large beer however this is the equivalent of about half a pint.

Sunbeds - there are signs up saying no reserving of sunbeds however it is still happening which is very frustrating! We saw people on their sunbeds for less than an hour a day although their towels werent moved! We didnt have a problem getting a sunbed whilst we were there although by early afternoon there werent many spare beds to be had. Should anyone go in peak season Im sure they will struggle to find a bed. On our last day we did see people queuing by the doors to the pool at 7.15am when the doors are not unlocked until 8am.

There is nothing luxury about this hotel. You pay 21euros a week for a safe and 2 euros plus a 10 euro deposit for a towel. i would have expected these to have been included.

There is no entertainment on at all in the day, not even any music by the pool. Whilst we were there we saw entertainment advertised for 3 of the evenings, we didnt stop to listen or watch it so cant comment.

In conclusion, I would not stop all inclusive at this hotel! Its in a great location and very clean. if your not expecting luxury and go out of season when you can get a sunbed i would recommend otherwise Id look elsewhere.

Firstly i would like to point out that the other people writing reviews about the air con not working are wrong, because yes, it may not work when the balcony door is open, but as soon as it is shut it always works, which is how air con is meant to work. Secondly, the food was amazing! There was a lot to chose from every day, so even if it became repetitive, there was enough there to have something different. As for people saying that they wouldn't recommend it to anyone under 60, that is very ignorant to say, as I am in my late teens, and i went with my boyfriend, and although there was a lot of older people, the older people there were great, so friendly and so funny! Thirdly, people moaning about not being able to get sun beds, well yes, it was amusing to watch lots of people rush to 'reserve' sun beds, but I never had a problem finding 2 sun beds with an umbrella when i decided to stay by the pool, and to be honest there is so much more to see than the pool within the hotel, the area was great to explore.
All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and helped us order taxis and direct us to places we wanted to go, the bar staff were even better, one of the barmen was absolutely hilarious!
In fairness the evening entertainment was a bit dated, but with a cocktail in hand, it was rather enjoyable.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet relaxing holiday but also with the opportunity to go to the bars 100m round the corner, and to experience some of the activities call d'or has to offer.
A tip for if you do decide to go this hotel, make sure you don't close the balcony door if you are on the balcony, because you get locked out!

First of all, thank you very much for taking your time to share with us your experience in Hotel Tucan. It has been a really detailed comment! You have right, the air condicioning is working only when the balcony door is closed! Our main priority is that our gusests have a quiet, relaxing holiday and we are really glad to hear that we are making it possible. We will tell it to all the staff in order to keep us motivated to carry on!
Thank you very much for your recommendation.
We look forward to see you back again!

recently visited Cala d'Or with my girlfriend and stayed at the hotel tucan, and yes i would say that the hotel does cater to the over 50's and yes there wasn't many sun loungers with parasols/umbrellas around the pool and ok the evening entertainment was a little.....dated. but the staff were very friendly and helpfull, the rooms where nice and clean, the restaurant had an excellent selection of meat, fish, salad ect that was all self service and the bar offered a good selection of spirits and largers as well as soft drinks. On the hole we found our stray to be a plesent one with only a few minor draw backs. The rooms where a little small for a 4 star and also the air conditioning was a bit of a let down during the day but on the night it worked well (dont know why). As a couple in our mid thirties we ventured out on a night time and found the location of the hotel excellent for the bars and restaurants around the area so that solved the problem of the hotel entertainment like wise the location of the Cala Gran beach is a VERY short walk away and offers more loungers with umbrellas as well as a lot of shaded areas to put you beach towel under. All in all i would recommend this hotel if asked.

i have recently returned from this hotel, i had a great time due to the company. i do not think this hotel should have a 4 star rating due to the following. the food was very repetitive, bland and unappetizing. i never managed to find a sunbed with a brolly the whole week I was there, I couldn't get up for the 8am brolley dash! most of the holiday makers were well over 70, i certainly would not recommend this hotel to any one under 60. there wasn't any entertainment on a daytime and only 2 or 3 nights had entertainment. the hotel was fairly clean although some of the carpets on the 2nd floor had a funny smell.

Room Tip: ask for a balcony without trees in front

This hotel was very central but inadequate in many ways. The Air Conditioning in the rooms was very poor, carpets on stairs and corridors were dated and dirty, the restaurant seemed understaffed at most times, the food was "just" OK. No tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.

The worst thing about this hotel was lack of space around the pool and there was not enought umbrellas/tables/sunloungers etc. If you didnt go down and reserve your space by the pool at 8.00am (there was a notice on the door asking guests not to) everything was then occupied and you were lucky if you were able to find a space by 4.30pm. Not a great stay - wont be going again.

Room Tip: Dont go for a room overlooking ther pool

What a marvellous hotel. Newly refurbished, pleasant staff and good food. Excellent location and a good mix of people from all around Europe.

Entertainment was not brilliant other than the morning sunbed run. That was hilarious to watch!!

Age mix when we went was 40-70 as the hotel was adults only.

Would definitely go again.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool area are very good
