3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

Just arrived back from and enjoyable two week holiday, at the end of July, with my two fifteen year old boys
All staff are so welcoming, hotel is very clean, the holiday makers were wonderful and friendly. Entertainment staff were great and seemed very genuine, my boys thought Bo Bo was great and they are missing him already. The food was good, but not a lot of choice especially with desserts.
My boys enjoyed the snack bar having toasties and burgers everyday. You did not have to wait too long at the snack bar for food. The water at the snack bar was very warm, so always tempted to have fizzy pop. The near by rock pool is a must and was beautiful.

The pool was always very very crowded as there was only really one main pool which was shared by two large hotels. I hardly went in the pool as it was so crowded. Not a lot going on outside the hotel as Cala Dor is about 50 minute walk. The main problem was getting a table for the evening entertainment, if you were not sitting down by 8.30PM you would struggle to sit down and many people had to stand or sit on the wall, which was a problem as you did not want to always rush your food and sit there all night. Some of the night entertainment was boring especially the comedy show, which no one seemed to enjoy. There was only one table tennis table for two hotels. It would have been better if there was only one hotel as in some of the activites there were about 40 people and at times too many to join in, as people were standing about especially in archery.

We all had a great holiday though and met some lovely people, who made the holiday for us.

We could not fault the hotel. The food was excellent. The staff were excellent. The children’s club was excellent. The entertainment was good. The location was good for pools, beach, local shops and sea trips. The hotel was spotlessly clean. However, bumping the pushchair up the steps, or carrying it, was a pain but the other no-steps route was a long walk. The only other downside, as with most hotels in Spain, is that the pool and sunbathing area are far too small for the capacity of 2 large hotels. You have to be up before 7 a.m. to position a chair with a towel to reserve your spot by the pool. The sun beds are not unlocked until about 8.45 p.m. The area for sun beds is soon filled. Anyone coming too late will have to go to the beach or watch the children in the pool, sitting in the table seating chairs. The pools become filled with loads of people, some even trying to play catch or bat and ball, when there seriously, is not enough room. Lifeguard was on duty during the pool opening hours.
The hotel sun beds to hire on the public beach are 5 Euros per day. Even the beach area was very crowded. Perhaps this is only in high season when the children are off school?
The WiFi is 3 Euros for 1 hour or 15 Euros for the week. To hire a safe is 3 Euros per day to use.
There is a children’s play area outside the hotel on the left, which has mini motorbikes (1 Euro), go-karts (2 Euros), tennis, trampolining etc. and a small selection of souvenir shops, including a shop that sells English newspapers or alternatively they are available at reception after 10.00 a.m. There was a street market on Thursday evening. Cala D’or, is a short 6 Euros taxi ride away and the taxi rank is just outside the hotel.

Room Tip: The hotel has 6 floors from -1 to 4. Reception is based on the road level at 0. Below ground level a...

just returned from a lovely holiday at marina skorpios hotel, lovely staff, lovely resort, spotlessly clean and large choice of food in the restaurant. If there was one negative its that the food was never hot enough, although the quality and choice of food was excellent, especially for me as I am vegetarian and there was a separate area for veggie food. Drinks were all good and the room was really nice. Good air con which we needed as it was so hot.

Room Tip: I would say if you want a view then ask for a room with seaview but we got a strret view and it was...

We have been to this Hotel before, on our own, but this time we took the family ( 7 of us ) and what a great time we all had. The food was fabulous, with massive choices, and for vegetarians , it was clean, the staff could not do enough for you ( Alicia in the restaurant was delightfully pleasant ). The location is fantastic, right on the beach. Never mind any negative reviews this is a must hotel to visit.

Hotels location is lovely, rooms are spacious and were cleaned everyday. We have 2 young children and 2 pushchairs we were on the first floor so needed to use the lift which does not work properly!, you could wait for up to 10 minutes for it to finally stop at your floor after going up and down .. was quite frustrating, many times we ended up bumping the pushchairs down the stairs as we were fed up of waiting.
There is no ramp down to the beach only steps which is difficult with pushchairs or for those with walking difficulties, there is access from the road but it is a long walk round.
The pool area is very busy in our 10 night stay we managed to get sunbeds once as they are all reserved with towells from early morning! more organisation is needed for the seating and tables round the pool it is very compact.
Beach gets very full too as its only small we found the sea not too clean because its a bay all the rubbish collects there.
Entertainment and kids club was good my 3 year old really enjoyed the thomas cook tiddlers club the girls do a great job.
Food was average not great variation in the childrens meals, the staff need to smile a bit more and hold off a bit from whipping your plate from the table when you hadnt even finished eating..

Room Tip: If you have pushchairs ask for a ground floor room so you dont have to use the lift !

Most people complain about three things, food, pool areas and sunbeds. When you apply some common sense it is impossible to please everyone with food, therefore I think the hotel do the right thing and play it safe. I found the food to be really good and have no complaints. Picky eaters should just go self catering, sorted! The breakfasts were the best I've had in a foreign hotel, with a proper English breakfast, very nice! The only negative I found was the pool areas are, as already stated, inadequate. And yes you need to be up at silly 'o'clock to reserve sunbeds. That's if you want squirting all day with water guns by kids that seem to have no parental control! Therefore we used the beech, which is on your doorstep and the view is fantastic! All the staff are very friendly and are only too eager to help you enjoy your holiday. Cleaners are constantly doing their stuff from dawn til dusk keeping the public areas clean. Overall I would not hesitate to go back and a top tip, send an e-mail before departure to request a sea view.
