We booked 12 nights All Inclusive in an apartment at Ferrera Blanca. We stayed in Block 15 on second floor which overlooked a garden area and quiet road, but we had asked for a quiet room close to all the amenties. We got what we asked for.
There is a small Mickey Mouse shaped pool outside the apartment door, but there was no noise whatsever as the balcony is on the other side of the apartment which was not overlooked at all. The room is contemporary in style and very clean, and probably the best type of apartment accomodation we have stayed in on Majorca. We had a small kitchenette with fridge, hob, microwave and crockery, a separate bedroom and lounge area (converted to beds for the kids at night - a bit uncomfortable for adults though), Wet room style bathroom (v nice, but no area to store toiletries, but had a hairdryer) and very large balcony. It was air conditioned which was needed. Ideal size for our party of 2 adults and 1 child.
The AI was v good quality and value, and money well spent in our opinion. To be able to help ourselves to soft drinks, beers and endless ice creams all day, then 3 meals a day was brilliant. Some families we met were staying Self Catering and they said they had spent a fortune on eating out and provisions as the exchange rate is so poor at the minute. The only major grumbles we had were that the fruit juices at breakfast were not fresh and were concentrated drinks machine fodder - Foul, and that the hotel is very spread out and a porter service should of been provided at check in.
The entertainment was what you made of it. You could easily get away from the holiday camp style shows, but our child loved the entertainers and the mini disco which happens at every hotel every evening in every resort in Spain. The staff worked extremely hard, and though the shows were very cheesy in parts, we saw the work behind it and the staff appeared to believe in what they were doing and did not come across as cynical at all. We did not take part in the daytime activities as we decided that we spend our holidays together as a family, but they looked like fun and well organised.
We had a car for the duration of out stay and visited Marineland near Palma, don't be fooled by reception that they sell discounted tickets, they were the same price at they were on the gate. Marineland was good for the sealion, dolphin and parrot shows and had a good kids pool playground, but the rest was not really memorable. Good place to visit if the weather isn't so good i suppose.
We also visited a lovely beach resort at Colonia de Sant Jordi. The beach was fantastic and well worth the 40 mins drive to it.
I would stay there again and if you do your research before you book anywhere, you should have no reason to complain

We have just returned from a weeks all-inclusive at this fantastic hotel. I, (40), went with my partner,(39), and our two boys (11 and 6).

We arrived on Saturday night at 10pm and breezed through check-in. We were told by the ever so polite receptionist that although the dining room was shut for the evening, if we came back to reception in about 30 minutes, they would prepare a cold meat picnic basket for each of us. We did this and there was plenty of food in it them for 2 days!!

We paid extra for a sea-view and we were allocated a room in block 14 on the third floor. Bear in mind there are no lifts, so you may have to carry cases up 3 flights of stairs. I wouldn't recommend paying extra for the sea-view as you can only see a small piece of the beach and cove, plus we didn't spend that long on the balcony.

The room was a good size with a seperate double bedroom (albeit with 2 single beds pushed together), and the corner settee in the lounge area converting into 2 single beds.
The shower room was of a good size too with a spa type shower and lovely contemporary sink.
There was also a small LCD tv in the lounge however it was not used by ourselves during our stay. the only downside on the room front was the lack of storage area for clothing if there are 4 of you in the room, there is only a double wardrobe in the bedroom, with a couple of shelves and 2 small bedside units with drawers so the boys tended to live out of their cases.
The food was of good quality, sometimes a little cool but if you asked, fresh warm food was usually placed out. All the meats are "show cooked" in the dining room. during the course of the week, we found the variety good with Lamb Chops, Roast Beef, Chicken, Fish and Paella to name a few of the things we had. Breakfast was also good with Bacon, Sausages, Eggs (Boiled, Fried and Scrambled), Beans, Mushrooms, Tomatoes all in plentiful supply. On some days, there was even smoked salmon out which was absolutely beautiful. If you didn't fancy the main restaurant, underneath there was a nice snack bar which doubled up as an italian restaurant at night. During the day, pizza, burgers, chips and the like were served down there, but at night it became a waiter served restaurant, we ate there a couple of times and the freshly made lasagne and cannelloni were to die for.
The entertainment overall was fantastic with something going on for all (Volleyball, Water Polo, Football, Rifle shooting, Archery to name a few)
The evenings entertainment was a little bit hit and miss, with the professional shows being excellent (The Drifters and The Acrobat were brilliant) and the Animation teams efforts being well put together but a little boring at times. The animation teams energy though was not to be faulted and they were not pushy and if you didn't want to do anything in particular, they didn't pester you. All in all, they made the holiday a more enjoyable experience and the kids loved them. Sergio, Andrew, Sahim, Christina, Julia, Sarah, Tomi and the others, special thanks for making the holiday one to remember.

The drinks on the All inclusive were also good, with San Miguel on self serve (albeit in plastic half pint cups), along with soft drinks. Anything else, you had to go to the bar for (if you ordered San Miguel at the bar, you got it in a pint glass), we rarely had to queue and even then, only for a couple of minutes maximum. Some cocktails are also included in the all-inclusive and I can highly recommend the Pina-Colada!!

We never had a problem getting sun loungers around the pools even though the towels were out the night before (and the English, not the Germans are the biggest culprits)
4 medium sized pools gave a good choice of shape and depth!

There is a road that runs through the 2 sides of the complex, however it's a quiet one way street and not a busy thoroughfare some would make out.

The beach is excellent, with gently sloping sand and plenty of parasols and sun loungers available there too!

All in all, excellent value for money and definately a place we would go back too. I can definately see why it got the family friendly award this year. Keep up the good work Mar Hotels.
Thanks From
Tony, Andrea, Ash and Alfie

We have returned from Majorca after a lovely week at the Ferrera Blanca Aptshotel. its modern bright very clean. in an excellent location to the beach and the town only about a 3 minute walk to pubs and restaurants and lots for familes especially younger children. we were all inclusive and found the food to be good. Some people have commented that the food is not always hot this can be the case sometimes but if you can wait a few minutes the food is constantly changed and replaced with new so in that instance it is hot!! The choice is vast and varied and of good quality always different not recyled!! into something else...
The rooms were fab lovely and modern clean and spacious- the kitchen had everything from kettle toaster microwave lots of dishes crocery etc. Serve yourself to softdrinks and San miguel - no drunks or loutish behaviour just people having a good time - happy safe and really pleasant surroundings. Beautiful lounge inside although when we were there most people did sit outdoors in the evening. Several computers in reception available to gain internet access and not too expensive. Also a small shop on site selling all holiday essential- but plenty of shops and supermarkets were very close by.
Rooms cleaned daily and our beds were changed twce in 1 week!
Towels changed daily - a bath towel and hand towel per person. Also toiletries changed and replaced daily Great shower too.
You can pay 10 euro's and get a large bath sheet for the beach or sunbathing this can be changed as many times in a day as you wish and on leaving the money is refunded with the receipt. A great idea i thought.
This will save on the weight in your case too!
Every night there was entertainment for families sometimes very good and the kids loved it.
There are daily activities going on for everyone and no pressure to join in - but if you do the staff are great and are so funny and welcoming- whatever your age.
it has been a great week and we met some great people. Its multi cultural when we were there it was predominantly British but some Spanish and a few german's. Everyone was very friendly - we would go back again - its a lovely beach with sun beds to hire and parasols- but due to the close proximity to the hotel we just walked down about 2 mins directly in front of the hotel - had a swim or sunbathed and lots of people just took a towel to sit on - very relaxing and clean sandy beach. Boat trips can be taken from the beach to other beaches and coves nearby and reasonably priced around 12- 22 euros I think.
Fully airconditioned and just a good hotel. the staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing was a problem from the cleaners to bar staff to reception.
Highly reccommended.....

We stayed at the Ferrera Blanca for 12 nights with our 20 month old son. On arrival to the complex, at 1.30am, the man checking us in at reception had little English and there was confusion re our booking, in that we had booked via alpharooms a one bed apt superior, whereas we were given a double room, NO LIFT and up 3 flights of stairs, buggy, cases and me, 5 mths pregnant!!! We were not impressed to say the least and went back down to reception, we were then given a one bed, though again on the third floor so the man at reception said we could ask about changing the following morning. They also had no cot for us the first night. The following morning we were changed, although our apt was right beside the entertainment stage, which is no joke as the entertainment runs til 12 at night and you might aswell be ON the stage with them for the noise, plus the entertainers are noisy then when they come off.

This all sounds so negative I know. The area is lovely and quite, a nice stroll into the centre of Cala D'or which was very busy so nice to be staying just outside. The beach beside the Ferrera Blanca is also lovely. The apartments were cleaned daily. Another thing, saying apartment is misleading as there are no kitchen facilities, ie a sink, microwave. There is a fridge but that is it. This would put me off returning as if you have to wash out bottles or like to have lunch/breakfast in your apt this makes it difficult.

If you've booked to go, make sure to get a map of the blocks sent to you, it is a large complex, ensure you are not beside the entertainment area and have a ground floor apartment if you have small children or don't want to be climbing three flights!!

We will return to Cala Dor those not these apartments.

Another tip. the Yacht Club on the marina has opened its doors to the public no longer being a private members club. We met a family on the beach who recommended it to us, it is fabulous, not a bit stuffy and has amazing views onto the marina beyond its infinity pool. We went to a BBQ night there and the food was fab, €20 for all you can eat, great value.

Also Es Caliou in the centre is nice as is Aquarius down at the marina.

We returned last week from a 10 day stay at the Ferrera Blanca and we are all very disappointed to be home. We were annoyed on arrival to find that although we had requested rooms close together with the other family we travelled with, we were placed in seperate blocks. We soon got over this, as the rest of the holiday was suberb. The rooms we did have were lovely, very clean and spacious. The only niggle was the air con was very noisy going off and on all night.
The entertainment team were suberb, they worked really hard to include everyone in games all day, which our children really loved. We had planned on doing some trips, but there was plenty to keep us entertained at the hotel that we stayed there for all 10 days. We explored the local area by foot, there are several bays around this area of the island, all with lovely beaches and a warm sea. The ferrera blanca has a beach just beside it, and you can hire parasols and sunbeds there if you wish.
The food was very good and we enjoyed many a meal in the restaurant, a good selection of salads and meats were available every day.
There were 3 pool areas, but we spent most of our days by the main pool where the games were held. During our holiday we got to try, Archery, Rifle Shooting, Beach Volleyball, Water Polo, Tennis, Football, Chess and numerous other games thought up by an enthusiastic entertainment team.
All in all, we are very sad to be back to reality.

When we arrived at the hotel it was around 1 am, we were all very tired and hot and wanted to get straight to sleep. We spoke with the receptionist Rafeal who wasn't extremely helpful but got us to our rooms very quickly. We were an extended family which was my family (me, mum, dad and 2 sisters) and then my aunt, uncle and two cousins. I swapped rooms to my cousins apartment so that the girls could be together. We found our hotel rooms which were in the block 14. They were perfect, right next to the pool. The others were placed in block 10 which was a bit further away and not as nice rooms but everyone was fine with that. The food was brilliant, there were the usuals, chips, pizza, salad, ice cream etc. but then changes each day like steak, kebabs, a huge variety of desserts etc. the location was perfect, just down the road was a string of market shops and pubs. One of which we enjoyed a few karoake nights in, called the Carabel. We especially loved the really really really really SUPER DUPER barman. the entertainers were absolutly brilliant. They were all very good doing sports, water games etc. Which were all great fun including Volleyball which was always entertaining. At night everyone would sit down and watch the clowns, which was lovely for the children. We would then all get very involved in the Bingo which got everyone jumping up and down. Then was the entertainment which was normally a mix of some nights the entertainers doing home made shows or people coming in to do things like Mamma Mia or Russian dancing. All the entertainers were very good but one stood out for me and that was Tomi. He was always very happy, enthuastic and got us all involved. We were also impressed how well my nine year old sister was looked after, she was always encouraged, mainly by Cristina, to do all the activities and she really enjoyed them. At night, i slept like a log ;) the beds were a tad uncomfotable but the maids supplied us with extra covers to sleep on. There was no noise from the surrounding area and after i entered the apartment i couldn't hear any music, voices etc. Overall, i would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in the Ferrara Blanca for 2 weeks end of July beginning of August and I have to say it was excellent. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was finished to a high standard and great bathroom and huge walk in shower and jet spa.

The food selection was fantastic, yes a lot of the meals are repeated but that that much selection you can have a different meal every day. I have a 14 and 10 year old who are very fussy but they never complained once, this was helped by the fact that they could have a huge portion of ice cream every day.

There are 3 pools which are all very good, two pools have bars and if you're all inclusive as we were you just help yourself to the San Miguel, paradise!!

The location is good with the beach only a small walk away and its in a quiet area about 10 mins walk from the centre of Cala d'or. The beach is excellent for snorkelling, loads of different fish to see.

The entertainment team are also very good, at first we were a bit unsure as my kids can only speak English but a lot of the songs were German but once the entertainment team got them up they had an absolute blast, one of our best holidays ever. Special thanks to Andrew, Cristina, Jara and Tomi for putting so much effort into the shows.

It is a very international hotel mainly made up of English and German with a splattering of Spanish, Dutch, Norwegian, Albanian and Russian but the atmosphere was always friendly and I would definitely recommend it for familys.

You can get cheaper all inclusive deals but its that age old saying, you get what you pay for!! I thought it was good value for money.
