“A great holiday.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Spent a week at the Bahia Azul with my husband and 20mth old son. We stayed in a studio which was spotless, though we were disappointed to find we would be sleeping on sofa beds. I really think that Thomson should make this clearer in their brochure! Good kitchen facilities - microwave, kettle and toaster though the pool bar offered great and reasonably priced snacks so it was hardly worth the hassle of self catering. The aircon (free) was a massive bonus. The pool was clean, if a little crowded but I suppose this was to be expected in August!
Cala Bona itself is nice, perhaps a little more commercialised than I'd like but certainly plenty to keep us entertained. Didn't have a bad meal at all . L'oliva was great for tapas and Papparatzi was good too.
We would go again but would choose an apartment next time, a week on a sofa bed was enough!

We stayed here 7th -14th August, myself and my little boy.........got there late tues night and bit dissapointed we had been led to believe we were getting a 1 bed apt but infact we got a studio........2 settees that you could take the cushions off to sleep on.......really uncomfy but within an hr of bringing it up.....staff at the Floriana brought over mattress topper which was great.
We spent the days at the pool with the lovely Augustin.......he works really hard to make sure you get everything you want and kept treating my son! Food is lovely here......get a lot and its cheap! Pool is spotless but on the small side and can get busy!
Maids clean room but our balcony was never cleaned.......we were at the top with a huge balcony so could see all the pretty spanish houses.
Bit of a walk to harbour but you can cut through the floriana......few of paths down to main st are dark and we were suprised to see dead birds and lots of litter!
Harbour lovely and fab places to eat......tends to shut 11-11.30 ish.
On the whole i had a fab time........wished it was a bit more spanish if that makes sense.....lots of bar singers like robbie williams etc........suppose i thought it would be less commercial.........the apts are lovely and quiet and have everything you need........however we weren't made to feel welcome at the Floriana at all.......nearly everyone is german/others dutch and the entertainment is all for them.......with a few snide remarks re the british!! I would suggest if they are going to carry on having the Floriana all about the Germans/dutch then they should open the pool bat at Bahia Azul at night!

Just home from a week at Bahia Azul Apartments and really enjoyed our stay. We were in room 3203 on the 2nd floor and had a huge balcony with seaview and also a view of the pool. We had a studio which yes was compact but very clean and well equipped, apart from the kettle which I had noted from previous reviews was a 'watched kettle never boils' whistling edition so I took a travel one. The bar staff were very friendly especially Augustin who is a really nice bloke, hardworking and eager to help make your stay a very enjoyable one. The snack bar offers really good value for money and a good choice for lunch. The pool isn't large and can become overcrowded but I thought there were plenty sunbeds for everyone. Pool area is kept very clean and tidy. There are lots of places to eat and drink with varying prices but for us Paparazzi came out tops with the food. A mention about Stanley's Tearoom - really lovely people, really good for a snack lunch and cupcakes are delicious! I would recommend Bahia Azul Apartments for anyone looking for peaceful, clean and comfortable accommodation. Cala Bona is a lovely area with plenty to do. We will certainly be visiting again and would hope to stay at Bahia Azul.

Room Tip: 3203 was a studio but great balcony. Sun for most of the day and evening.

Fantastic resort and apartments best we have stayed in clean and aircon was very good.Pool is small but perfect for little kids , Augustine has great customer service skills nothing is too much for him he will even make food not on the menu if required. We ate at the pool bar 7 times out of the 14 for lunch as quality and price were very good (2.75 euros for a pint).I cant rate this place enough for a family holiday and location to Cala Bona.Cala bona is 5 min walk with a small beach and marina with good restaurants Paparazi and El Pescador were our favourites for us and kids age (5 and 8).We found the Floriana mini disco and evening entertainment an added bonus and went to a couple of shows Grease & Mama Mia but didnt use the Hotel for anything during the day as we were happy with Azul.
Apartments only negatives : sun beds are taken if you dont put a towel on by 9am but dont worry as Augustine will arrange for some to brought for you if all have been taken but then the best locations will have gone and the apartments dont have an oven or grill which suites us as we dont cook when on holiday but others may want to.

Room Tip: ground floor with kids as no lift.

We are just back from a two week stay in these apartments. We went as two girls on a quiet girls holiday. When we booked with Thomson we wanted apartments that were quiet but not far from things to do and that's exactly what they were.

The apartments themselves were excellent. They were cleaned 5 times a week and the house keeping team were very friendly. We stayed in a 2nd floor apartment (which we requested) with a pool view. We had a lovely view of the area. The apartment was very clean and this level of cleanliness was maintained throughout our stay. We were impressed with the amount of space we had for 2 people as we had 2 balconies which overlooked the pool area. Throughout our stay it was always quiet at night. The apartments are walking distance from local shops to buy bread and water, it is also not far from Cala Bona and Cala Millor.

The pool bar was good value for money. Even though we didn't eat at the bar there was a good variety of food on offer. Agustín (the barman) was very helpful with giving us recommendations on places to visit and restaurants to try.

Cala Bona is a predominantly British resort and Cala Millor is a mainly German resort. The beach in Cala Millor is really nice and worth going to (it's about 15 - 20 mins on foot). The beach in Cala Bona isn't very nice. The harbour down in Cala Bona is worth walking around and it had a good atmosphere at night. The woman in the tourist information office in Cala Bona was really helpful and can give you lots of information on things to do in the area.

By the second week of our stay we started to visit more places using the public buses because the Thomson trips were charging a fortune.

The following things are worth doing:
- Visiting Palma (only 14€ return on the public bus)
- Going on the boat tour (the White Kat) - 20€ per person
- Visiting Porto Cristo (part of the boat tour)
- Caves of Drach (we didn't do this but a lot of people did)
- Son Servera market on a Friday (5€ by taxi)
- Walking up to the castle at the end of Cala Millor beach (it's a small castle)

We tried lots of places to eat whilst we were there, here are some of our favourite places:

- La Granada (does excellent tapas in Cala Bona by the harbour)
- La Alambra (behind Marins Playa hotel) - it is an Italian but is very popular with Spanish people
- Maria's Cafeteria (just down from the apartments)

The only downside was the Floriana which is a massive mainly German complex. It has a good short cut through it for going to Cala Bona and it has the internet but you wouldn't want to stay there.

We had a great holiday here and we met a lot of really nice people.

Just returned for a fab 2 weeks at the Bahia azul in cala bona. Most friendly place we have ever stayed. . We stayed in room 3212 a studio and had the best balcony ever with sea views, poo. View and mountain view, fab . Apartment was quite basic but done us. Air con was quite good and was free. The pool area was great didn't have to bomb down to put towels on. You cold get a bed any time of the day really. Augustine the pool bar and snack man was fab, nothing was too much for him. The food from the pool bar was great in the day. We could have a toastie, sald and chips and. Drink fro two people for just over 9 euros!
It was a 5 min walk to the main sti whi h was quite busy with lots of bars and restaurants . Janet And johns was the best by a mile. We ate there 9 times. Big shout to Lorne who runs this family business. Stunning food and service. Best pint was n smithys bar Stella 3 euro a pint. The beach in cala bona is not the best. Cala millor has the best beach and the semis stunning. . All in all fab holiday and would def return xxx

Room Tip: 3212 massive balcony sun all day long

I went here with my two teenage daughters and my partner and it was absolutely stunning. The shops were amazing and not at all crowded, but not so it was lonely. The beach was very quiet and beautiful, and there was sun beds available all throughout the day. the weather was in the early thirties but after a couple of days it was just normal weather, not hot at all. My eldest daughter even met her first boyfriend on the Cala Bona beach! The rooms were cleaned beautifully, the bar staff were friendly and always helpful, and I can not say this enough: this was the perfect holiday for a family like mine!
