Large clean rooms.Ours overlooked road with small amount traffic noise.Probably worth extra for sea view if you like to sit on balcony a lot.Food adequate .Excellent soups and sweets.Main courses mismatched selection but always found something.Often cold but did respond to complaints.Located in nice semi residential area with good access to buses.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms excellent with early sun.Road rooms sun on balcony afternoon not too much traffic.sli...

Beautiful location, hotel was very clean and friendly. as a solo female traveler, i found this a very safe resort.i needed a week of total chill out, and here i got it, my only decision being beach or pool. The food was excellent, my only complaint was the pool, apart from it being freezing, it was very small for the size of the hotel, also wasnt disability friendly, it was very dated, with high steps to enter. overall brilliant, and would definitely stay here again,,,

My wife and I have just returned (15th – 29th September) from a two week stay in the Son Baulo. First impressions were good with helpful staff at reception swiftly getting us booked in and directed to our room. We were allocated room 100A which was a corner room with a large balcony and great views overlooking the beach from the front patio windows and across the nature reserve to the side. The room was clean and spacious room with a double bed and two single beds. There seemed to be an old damp patch on the wall which backed onto the bathroom indicating there was a leak at some point which had not been fully rectified. The bathroom was spacious and kept very clean by our excellent cleaner but the vent above the bath was rusted and gave out a very slight damp odour.

The hotel is right at the end of the resort in a very quiet location with a few shops, a couple of bars and some restaurants.

No problems getting a sun bed (when we wanted one) but like most hotels you get those who must have the same sun bed everyday. This used to be a German pastime but sadly the British now appear to be world masters at bagging a sun bed. Some people were not content with reserving one parasol with a couple of sun beds but reserving a parasol each.

Food ok and could always find something to eat. Be careful although the opening times stated it was open in the evening to 9:15 they would start to pack up around 8:45 and if there was something popular on the menu then it would run out very early and not be re-stocked (usually the puddings). We ate out a couple of times to give us a bit of variety. Some reviews mention the drinks in hotel expensive which they are compared to some of the local bars but are still well priced compared to British pubs/hotels.

Entertainment was poor and we found ourselves going out most nights either to the Crazy Horse, PJ’s or taking the short walk down to Can Pickafort along the promenade (beware of cyclists and skate-borders especially once dark).

The swimming pool must be the coldest I have ever experienced hence the reason why few people were ever in it. The beach when we arrived was a horror sight as it was covered in seaweed and access was only possible in a couple of places. This was cleared up over a couple of days and the water became clearer as the weather got calmer. I have my doubts whether this is suitable for children as often (usually afternoons) the sea would get choppy and seemed to have a bit of an undercurrent. The beach is patrolled by two lifeguards, one of which talked incessantly to his girlfriend who kept him company most days so if there was a problem I would hate to rely on him for a quick reaction.

On the whole this is a three star hotel and that is what you get. We found all the staff very friendly and attentive. Would we go back – probably not but that is only because it is too remote and not because of the hotel itself.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are a must

the son baulo is an ideal place to take a nice holiday at a relaxed pace.you can walk into ca'n picafort along the lovely promenade or you can take the ting ting train which costs 3 eurosbut you can get on and off the train all day long for that price which we thought was ideal.son baulo is across from a nature reserve and a nice walk to the horse riding stables and then back all downhill to the hotel.the bus stop to alcudia is just across the road 1.75 euros to the old townits beautiful a lovely church at the top and some nice street cafes to stop and have a drink or tapas before heading back, the market is held there on certain days too.theres a street market in son baulo on fridays more or less the same one as alcudia but a bit smaller.couldnt fault the hotel at all its right on the beach plenty of sun beds a big seating area lovely food and a few bars and restuarants in the vacinity.go try it you wont be dissapointed its great xxx

Room Tip: ask for high floor with sea view

for a starter its a 3 star hotel so its nor going to be luxury !
* the location was excellent as right on the beach . it was 10 euros for 2 bed and a umbrella all day
*the staff at the hotel were friendly and polite and the waiters were fun in the evening
*the rooms were clean and basic .we did upgrade but well worth it for the view was a extra 10 euros a day that i think was quite cheap
*the food was average i am really picky as cant eat dairy but there was always some thing there i could eat and desert that doesn't happen back home when we go out .
*the swimming pool is really clean and there were plenty of sun beds all day long.the best bit was there was a bar near the pool that done food also
*the one thing we didn't like were the cleaners as they were really noisy in the morning from 8ish so no lay in but very polite and did a good job.
*entertainment in the evening was good and tacky but was a good laugh .the hostess of entertainment was lovely and the mini disco for kids was great fun.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the sea were not in direct sun light so rooms stayed cool and so we didn't pay...

Stayed 1 week.

Location is excellent, central to everything including public transport.
Room wasn't initally impressive, it was baisc, but it was very clean and was cleaned thoroughly regularly had a good view from balcony. Bed comfortable.

Food not the best, but managed to get something to eat every night, even if it was a salad, ate out one evening just to get a bit of variety.

Entertainment was very good, 5 out of the 7 nights

Staff, what can I say, they are definately this hotels best asset. They were professional and attentive. At times the bar staff were the entertainment. Special mention to Paco and the bar staff, especially Manuel. Great fun, and Jill gave a very warm welcome every evening.

This hotel is very informal and relaxing with no airs and graces. It is value for money but I don't think I would be going back as it didn't have the wow factor for me.

I have just returned from the Son Baulo having stayed a week as a single parent. I thought it was great that there is a kids club and parent and toddler group plus 2 specific toddler swimming pools and a Little Tyke climbing activity centre - not to mention the soft play room and kiddies disco! All the Thomson reps are very friendly especially with children.
Contrary to other reviews you can pay by card in the bar as I did - it wasn't a problem at all. All the waiters were friendly and helpful.
The food is ideal for the unadventurous Brit abroad or kids - not fancy but there was always something that I fancied and my child ate really well too. Her favourite - sausage and baked beans was available every morning for breakfast!
It was a clean hotel - no it's not super new or sleak but it isn't selling itself as that.
I had a road facing room - so what? We only slept in it and it was dark by the time we did that. I didn't hear any noise and neither did it smell!
It was great that the tv had cbeebies on it!!
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you have kids or want to have the familiarity of home - ie British food, language and tv.
It is a 3* hotel - don't book it if you expect 5* standards!
