“A buzzing holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

Just got back from holiday village viva on 27th October, a very nice place with extremely friendly staff who can't do enough to help you. The food is plentiful and you will find it difficult to go hungry during your stay as there is always something there for different tastes. We went for 2 Italian themed meals during our stay and they were the food highlight for me and the staff were again fabulous. Plenty of daytime and evening entertainment but my one negative is the wasps. There were loads of them and made it impossible for me and my wife to relax by the pool so we had to retreat to the beach about a half mile away. Not enough choice of cocktail drinks for me but slush drinks are on the all inclusive deal.
For you facebookers there is free wifi in the reception area.
There are far more positives than negatives but my advice is to buy insect repellent to keep the waspies away.
I would recommend a holiday at the holiday village viva in Majorca

travelled to the holiday village viva from 7th oct till 14th oct, when we got there at 12pm after just over an hr transfer as our bus was full so they put us on another one which had a lot of drop offs in alcudia first we were told our room is not ready till 1.30, we just went to get some lunch at the snackbar but our littel one wanted to go in the pool straight away but had no swimming stuff to hand, other than that swift check in. Our room was in block 2 ( i think room 1109 facing out towards the reception and door direct facing the main big pool so was fine for us.
Managed to get a bed at the splash pool the 1st 2 days but didnt bother after that as there was only sun on a few sunbeds around the pool and on the rest late afternoon prob the time of the year also as previous reviews the pool that cold our 3 year old decided shed rather not go in it after the first coup0le of times, we then managed to get beds next to the baby pool after that which she preferred and going in the big pool .
We have never been alinclusive before only mexico caribean etc and was pleasantly surprised as a lot of choice and good the sausages in the morning always very pale and didnt look properly cooked and didnt taste very nice so gave them a miss. Only ate in the restaurant once at lunch as preferred the pool snack bar which had the usual burgers hotdogs pizza sandwiches etc and the service was very quick and the staff very friendly.
The dinner was good always a lot of choice and we did eat in the italian and the mexican , we preferred the italian had the lamb cutlets in cheese sauce which were to die for , we both didnt enjoy our meal in the mexican but my husb enjoyed getting a decent bottle of red wine.
Our daughter who is 3 went to the kids club but she didnt want to stay when realised i was going after 10 minutes though she is quite shy. The rep tried his hardest to make her feel welcome and they look like they had a good time there, she still got the cup tshirt and hat just for signing up so she made up had the madagascar tshirt like the other kids.
We usually went to the mini disco 7 till 7.30 and our daughter enjoyed the 5 live games till 8oclock and we then went to eat as it a lot quieter in restaurant then.
We went to the beach which is a 10 min walk and is lovely and shallow and warm , loungers only 3 euros each rather than the usual 6/7 euros in other parts of majorca we have been.
There are ponly rides just round the corner from hotel on the way to the beach which were 5 euros a go.
The weather was great apart from 1 1/2 days of rain and storms, on the day of full rain and storms our daughter came down with a sickness bug, she had a temperature in the morning was sick and then wouldnt eat all day and slept most of the day, seemed to be a lot better later on as slept herself better.
Didnt realise how many other kids had been ill until speaking to other mums and seeing a few kids being sick around the pool , the reps and lifequard onto this straight away and closed the splash pool down for 1 1/2 hours while they cleaned and tested this . When l.ooking at the first choice notice board they had put up that there was an outbreak of chicken pox going around and to keep your child away from the kids club if suspected they were getting it, we were hoping then that she didnt get it or any spots before we came home.
Wbhen on the bus journey back to the airport quite a few kids were sick on the bus and heard other mums discussing that all the kids had it and had passed it on to them, so there is obviously a problem with this still at the hotel as in previous reviews.
Other than this we had a fabulous time and couldnt rate the hotel food or entertainment , we wouldnt go back to this hotel only because we likke to try different resorts/hotels and this will no longer be a holiday village hotel next year .
The drinks selection was good although my husband was convinced there was no alchol in the beer as no matter how much drank couldnt feel an effect, the sangria and the cockails were really nice in the bar though sangria not very nice at all in the restaurant.

very good first holiday abroad. It had everything a young family could want. From start to finish this holiday exceeded expectations. My daughter has health issues so its imperative that the resort is clean, as she can pick up an infection much easier than the rest of us. This hotel was spotless, they clean everywhere all the time!! The transfer was good and the room was clean and spacious. Food was excellent even with two young children. Splash pool for them was great. We all had a fab holiday. Review is a late as travelled in 2010 but just realised i had not left review and feel this hotel should be given the review it deserves.

Just arrived home from the Holiday Village Viva. no big problems (apart from a musty/damp smell from damp sheets), on a positive the staff work really hard, the food is great, service was quite quick. We had great weather, cannot wait to return!! Def book the Italian meal at reception as the food is beautiful. Saw the Pirate Adventure show - a must (a little costly, but worth it). Our room was block4, opposite the duck pond - complete with laughing ducks, a novelty at first but does wear thin.

I travelled with my two grandaughters aged 8 and 13. The girls did not join the kids clubs as because of the age difference they could not be together. However they really enjoyed the evening entertainment, Lee and David being favourites.

We swam every day but reverted to the indoor pool because the outdoor pool was freezing. We were lucky with the weather apart from two very wet mornings. We also managed two days at the beach and swam in the sea. Did not mind the walk to the beach as the girls shopped for gifts (and many bracelets) on the way.

The food in the buffet was very varied and always tasty. Chocolate Wednesday was incredible. I was not impressed by the Italian or the Tex Mex on the nights we visited. The staff in the dining room work so hard to maintain very high standards and any breakages or spills were dealt with immediately.

The apartment was clean and comfortable. The grounds were well tended and kept very clean. The staff and reps were always friendly and polite. i would certainly recommend the First Choice Holiday Village concept for a family holiday.

We stayed for a week on 14th October with our 6 year old grandson. it was our first time taking him away without his mum and we are so glad we took him to the holiday village as it had so much for him to do.From the moment we arrived he was enjoying himself and the staff are so friendly with the children. We are more used to adult holidays where we very rarely have contact with reps ( i usually feel if you havent spoken to your rep on holiday then it means everything is going great) but here there are so many making sure the children have fun.We booked our grandson into the swim academy and Billy who is the swim coach is brilliant with the children. He has the right mix of fun and firm and our grandson gained a lot of confidenence thanks to him. Its a pity this wont be a holiday village soon as I would urge you to get lessons booked with Billy. I would also have said go and join Pete? on the areial adventure , he is so patient and professional, and again my grandson loved trying it, ( sorry if the name is wrong as ive a terribe memory for names.)My grandson also had a good time at football academy, and although he isnt great at football he tries and enjoys it and its hard for the coaches to train such a different range of ages at the same time but they do it well. I also want to say what a great man Chemo? is ( now that is probably not his name- told you im rubbish). He is the man with the trampolines who is amazing value for money. 5 euros for 10 mins and he doesnt short change children on time, my grandson loved this, especailly when he realised that the elastic meant he could go high and so he had a few goes on this during our week away. Our room was fine although it suffered from noise being room 1115 it was at the bottom of stairs and you could hear everyone going up to their rooms, but it wasnt enough of a problem to ask for a change(you should try being in Cancun during a USA spring break!!!) Food was fine for a hotel geared towards family, I always found something nice to eat and mostly it was hot, occasionly lukewarm but that would be the same at any buffet .I would have said go with your children and have a ball but as its no longer going to be a holiday village I have no idea what it will be like next season

Room Tip: room 1115 too close to stairs
