Originally on the first day of our holiday I'd have given Marins Playa 4 or 5 stars as the room appeared exceptional. However, after the second night ( we left air con on overnight) the room stank of cigarette smoke. This continued 24/7 for the rest of our holiday. I'm not a moaning minney but I do have asthma and after a few days of this it flared up. We complained to reception and asked to be moved as basically the people next door to us literally sat on their balcony 24/7 chain smoking. We worked out that our air con units were centrally controlled and some how interlinked that was why the smell was getting in ( when out on balcony couldn't smell anything even though they were right next to us smoking all the time and our towels didn't smell). However reception said there was nothing they could do and send a maid up with some air freshner.
On one occasion the maids didn't leave any towels yet reception told us we'd have to collect them ourselves- not great when you've just come out of the shower lol. The only other thing was that you couldn't get a dumbed at any time of day. I can't say we were bothered but some people would be. Otherwise, fab holiday- lovely location right between Cala millor and Cala bona which is great for families and couples alike. We like a good pub quiz however Yates and Cheers were disappointing- Yates was taking the Mick easy whereas Cheers' quiz never started- thank goodness actually as when I went to the toilet there was a spray of diarrhoea everywhere - yes everywhere!!
I'd recommend L'olivia or L'olive ( can't remember which lol) in Cala bona harbour- stunning try the prawns on the tapas menu! You have to reserve a table though. I can't say any restaurant wasn't superb to be fair :D
Looking forward to coming again some time :)

This place is lovely, apartments are clean and there is a bar, restaurant and supermarket on site. We stayed in Marins 1, but 2 and 3 were right around the pool - the rest were near but looks like 1-3 best if you have kiddies (no roads/pavements etc.).

Would defo 100% recommend for families as the entertainment was great (esp. "Grease"), weather was lovely and this resort had the best of Cala Millor/Bona without the noise! Short walk to either of these resorts (within 5-10 mins either way ... right for Millor @ the sea & left to Bona - easy!).

We went during school term time (just - mid-September), so maybe a little quieter as kids were littler, but even though quite a lot of towels on sunbeds, this was not an issue. If I'm honest, I think it would be a little hot for a baby/toddler any earlier in the season anyway. Most families were German and there was mainly German TV channels (would've been nice for more English - just 2 news channels but you have to cater for majority I suppose) but I loved it. Just about right I reckon.

Happy with my holiday at the Marins Playa.

We stayed at the Marins Playa Suites at the end of August and loved the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, well equipped with good air-con and a fridge. Bathroom was lovely with a rain shower. The hotel appeared to be full but there were always sunbeds, the pools are brilliant. The view from our balcony was amazing and we were so sad to leave that we have booked to stay again in October!

Have just returned from a week at the Marins Playa and my wife and I really enjoyed it,it was very clean, quiet a night and the staff were very helpful. We had no problems at all with towels on the sunbeds, there was one or two but there was still beds available at 10am.
The only thing I could complain about is that there is only 2 English speaking channels on the TV,all the rest were in German.
We booked a studio but were given an apartment in No.1 block so that was a bonus. The supermarket was pretty well stocked and the prices were ok.Maybe my wife and I got lucky because we could not find anything to moan about,we would certainly use the hotel again

Let me just start by saying go to this hotel its a must especially if you have kids
this hotel has it all .. staff pools shop location rooms hot tub jacuzzi pirate ship with slides
everything ..ok ill start my review

good points

As i said above it has it all when we arrived we wher greeted by a lovely polite spanish
girl on the front desk by the name of monica who checked us in hassle free and we got
the rooms we requested no problem .. now what i will say to back up last 2 reviews is that the
hotel is split up into 7 blocks .. block 1 is the main reception. block 2 is just next door. block 3 is above the shop/supermarket. block 4 is across the road from reception which by the way is not a road as such its a cul de sac. block 5 is next door to block 4 but down a bit. and i believe blocks 6&7 are around the corner now i suppose like the last 2 reviews if you got put into block 6 or 7
it would put a bit of a dampner on things that said i heard that outside blocks 1 & 2 the rooms are
huge with big balconys and most if not all are 2 bed apts it looks like they used to be privately owned apts but hotel bought them over any way im rambling on here my tip to you all is to try
and get if you can block 1 or 2 as these are the main hotel and all rooms look over the pool
the rooms in this part of the hotel are on average size good storage space for clothes tv with 2 english channels but heh your on holidays who needs tv if your kids are bored here there is something wrong anyway bring a portable dvd player that should do it ..bathrooms just got refurbished no bath all have massive rain shower which would sandblast you ... great .. 2 twin beds in bedroom and a good size sofa bed with extra pullout bed underneath in living area nice size balcony as i said with good pool view ......

bar .. bar itself is decent enough price wise not to shabby at all pint of beer € 2.50 take away pizza € 5.80 kids burger & chips which come with free soft drink and ice cream € 4.20
and lots of other stuff to choose from all at reasonabl prices for a hotel bar ...shop/supermarket
on site is also well stocked and reasonable priced also

pools ... what can i say here just brilliant it has 3 pools 1 about ankle depth which has a pirate ship with slides and water cannons in it a dolphin which shoots water a parrot which sits on top of a pole which fills a bucket up with water and pours on your head and a jack sparrow look alike
pirate standing at the edge of the pool kids just love this pool could not get them out of it ( to watch tv ha ha ha ) middle pool is waist high and has a jacuzzi in it nice ..bottom pool beside bar is bit deeper but has a section that has a fence across it for the little ones so they can splash about in it and you can rest at ease knowing they are ok ....around the pool there is a sun deck just above the games and baby club rooms if you like to sunbathe this is the place to do it its a propper sun trap also up here is the hot tub didnt use it but looks great ...also a lot of sunloungers
but ill get back to them in my bad points ..location of hotel is excellent inbetween calla bona and calla millor perfect some great places to eat and lots of shops try the cats wiskers and twenty twenty for breakfeast huge and very cheap if you like your food you will like calla bona/calla millor
all restruants of very good standards and prices some will very price wise but the most you will pay for a family of 2 adults 2 kids with starters mains drinks and ice cream for kids would be about € 65 so very good ...

Bad points
not to many here only one actually reserving sunloungers with towels what is the deal with this
come on people get a life i mean getting up at 7.00 in the morming and im not exaggerating the time to put your towel on a sunlounger hello get a life i mean you wouldnt really care about this if it was someone doing this because they were going for the breakfast and then coming to the pool for the day but ther was times when some people where doing this and then could not be seen untill about 3 or 4 in the afternoon ther is a mix of nationalitys staying at this hotel and yes as said by previous reviews mostly germans there is english there with maybe some dutch spanish and scandinavian but the main if not the only culprits for reserving the sunloungers seemed to be the germans what is the deal with this guys is this something you are taught in school i mean come on get a life ... i myself am irish and dont have a problem with the germans or any other nationality for that matter but come guys thers is enough to go around you dont need to hog all and i mean all the sunloungres ...i stayed at a hotel last year that did not allow this
if this happaned the towels where removed by the animation team and put on the stage and where told over the mic this was not allowed and they could collect ther towels from the stage this would keep happening every time someone would reserve a sunlounger ...great idea something marins playa should think about bringing onboard ..great great idea ...so this is why i didnt give
marins playa 10 out of 10 shame really to loose 1 point because of this ...

sum up
so to some up great hotel if you get the right building yes lots of germans but so what get on with it they are nice people to.. staff speak both german and english and will go out of there way to help you kids will love it as i did will be going back next year without a doubt we cant wait.

Room Tip: choose marins 1 or 2 these are the best bulidings as they both overlook the pools

As the previous reviewer ,we were in the same block at the same time (nice note but a waste of time pal)we are just back today had the same trouble with the sonambulistic furniture mover I wouldn't recommend this place unless your German, the Marins Playa doesn't really accommodate for other nationals There was one large pot and an omelette pan for a fortnights self cataring The A-team couldn't make anything out of that Hotel was clean ,not really quite and very hospitable unless you were teutonic in origin Calla Millor is nice and so is Cala Bona but if we go back it would not be to stay in Marins Playa

We have just had 2 weeks at Marins Playa. It's a nice hotel with a good pool area but we are unlikely to return. The hotel is split into 6 or 7 blocks. Blocks 1, 2 and 3 form the main part of the hotel. Blocks 4 and 5 are across the road from the hotel and the other blocks are completely detached to the hotel. We booked a 2 bed apartment and on arrival were directed to Block 7 which is approx 250m from the hotel and across 2 roads. In my view it is completely unacceptable to let these rooms as being part of the hotel (we complained and got moved when we agreed to pay for an upgrade). The apartment we were moved to was substantially closer to the hotel albeit still across the road and was nice and clean. However, we were woken up at 7am every day (no exaggeration) by the sound of someone dragging a bed on the tiled floor of one of the apartments above (when I reported this to reception the response was basically 'what do you want us to do about it'). We did try to speak to some of the other guests but they al said it was someone else (The only good point about being woken up so early was that we were able to get sunbeds as by 8.30/9.00 the Germans had them all reserved - the hotel does nothing whatsoever about this).

In summary:
Good points - quite a nice hotel, approx 250m from the beach, good kids clubs / shows, good pool area, reasonably priced supermarket on site.
Bad points - mainly Germans staying there, reception staff, poor sleep, only blocks 1-3 are actually connected to the hotel.

We enjoyed Cala Millor and Cala Bona but, if we go back, will probably find somewhere else to stay.

Room Tip: There are no sea views in this hotel but you can at least get a pool view from Blocks 1 and 2. If yo...
