“Resort condo, fairly typical, good for the sun worshippers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2011

This is a pretty large codo/time share resort. Nice grounds, clean, some traffic noise depending to the building. Decent gym, spa, billiards room, nice pool. Plenty of restaurant opportunities around and a small market across the street. Our unit, Margarita was closest to the beach highway and would have been very noisy if we wanted the front windows open. We had a small balconey overlooking a mowed lawn area which was nice with a couple of chairs and a small table. The room was fine, clean, bed was okay not great. Fold out couch and chair seemed dated in our unit (they were updating units while we were there), but all in all very satisfactory. A good jump off place for visits to old Mijas, and a definate must is Ronda, incredible spot about an hour away. Most of the resort lies on a small beachfront. There will be a map of the resort on my photos to help pick a room. We had very nice 65-70 degree (17-20c) weather.

Room Tip: take a look at my photos for a map of the rooms and buildings.

Enjoyed our stay at Dona Lola very much. We had a one bedroom studio apartment which was very spacious, well equipped and very clean. I normally feel the need to clean before we use things when on holiday but it wasn't necessary here and I was impressed with the standard of cleanliness.
The adult outside pool was heated but the large pool was not and was VERY COLD!! There is an indoor pool too that is heated in the leisure facility. Didn't use the massage and beauty room as I think it was quite expensive. The resort was very quiet at this time of year (November) which suited meant we had the pools to ourselves and it was very peaceful. Ate at Vista Mar twice and the food was excellent, especially the gorgeous range of fresh fish! We also ate at Da Vincis which was excellent! The staff made us feel so welcome and the atmostphere and food was brilliant. Very reasonably priced. Other people staying on the resort told us that the Indian and the Chinese were very good and Tags ( over the lefthand bridge )too. We just didn't get the chance totry them as we only stayed for one week. We intend to return to this resort next November as we enjoyed it so much.

Good trips and excursions on offer. As there weren't loads of people we had two trips cancelled the day before but we were able to choose others as there were plenty of things to do. The jeep trip to Sierra La Nieves is well worth every penny. A fantastic and educational experience and very enjoyable. Gibralter dolphin watching andthe rock tour worth a look. Shopping very good in Gibralter although the main square is a bit tired and not pretty. The boat trip to see the dolphins was the highlight!! Good crew who went out of their way for the passengers and a very pretty boat with toilets and a bar on board.

Staff on reception were excellent with the exception of Miguel. He really couldn't be bothered and had a negative attitude. Each time he was on reception he was the same. But Antonio and Javier were wonderfuland extremely couteous and helpful so just go out and come back when they are on and give Miguel a miss!! The mid week linen change and fresh towels much appreciated and no extra charge. The weather was so lovely we didn't need air con or heating so electricity charge was only 13 euros for the week.

Gardens and flowers and palm trees were beautiful on this resort.
We will be going back for definite.

Room Tip: Don't go for Luisa apartments as they are near the entrance and a busy road.

We spend pretty much a week here every summer here and enjoy it every time.

I holiday alot going to expensive places but i like to know that i can come here for a week and not to have to spend a fortune and still really enjoy myself. The quality of food witin walking distance is very good and so is the service and apartments. There is loads to do with in bus/driving distance and its great for a family.

I holiday mainly with my family here and we enjoy the time together which maybe helps towards my glowing review but its nice to go to a place where you feel safe and know my nephews will have a fun time with other kids and we can go out and not blow the family budget in one meal.

Our apartment is in the Patricia block which has been updated 3 or 4 times, it has 2 large bedrooms and bathrooms with a baclony although its not a tremndous balcony i have to admit.

A fully fitted kitchen so if you feel like it you can cook in and have a good meal. The supermarkets are within walking distance so you will not be short in supply.

The pools are good with an Adult pool which can keep you away from the crazyness of the normal pool. The beach on the front is nice although not the best in the area ( i have to say thou the costa del sol doesnt have many great beaches even in Marbella they are just nice)

I really enjoy this place and would recommend it to anyone.

We spent a week last August here and overall was great. The location next to an A road wasn't the best.
Outside services were quite poor, like the uneducated bus driver who took us to Marbella. Shouting at people who didn't understand his Spanish. I did shout back telling him that he probably wasn't the right person to work on a very busy tourist resort.
The other bad service is the people who arrange the scuba diving. Very friendly but after three months we are still waiting for our pictures even after contacting them three times. Restaurants and services within the resort were quite good even if geared up mainly for Brits.

Stayed here in September for a week, staying in Laura which was a lovely apartment with sea views. Apartment very spacious with large kitchen, & recently renovated lounge area although the kitchen could do with updating.
The complex is clean and well looked after and pretty quiet, but with plenty of restaurants and a few bars nearby. We travelled with our baby daughter and there were a few too many steps to negotiate with a buggy, however the toddler pool was small but nice, and the park was probably better suited for slightly older kids.
Resort is well located in Calahonda for travelling around the area. We visited Fuengirola, Marbella and Gibraltar with our hire car, however there are also similar trips available from reception.

Room Tip: Sea view really nice place to sit and relax

I stayed there for one week recently unfortunately ended up in hospital for four days not due to their food1 the resort was excellent very clean and tidy everywhere. The security system was complicated and our alram went off but once we got used to it was fine. My only complaint was the slopes and stairs everywhere to the apartment I would not recommend to anyone with walking difficulties my mum has dodgy hips and I have dodgy legs and found the stairs and slopes hard work sometimes. The heated pool is bliss and no horrible clorine smells as in some pools. When I was taken to hospital the staff were excellent very helpful and friendly Antonio and juan were exceptional in being helpful and always had right answers. Would highly recommend this place. Also the trips are very cheap although didnt go on any . Would highly recommend Estopona Market on Sunday mornings if you have a car about a half hour drive towards Gibraltar

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the sea are excellent would recommend Elizabeth too
