“You would join this club if you lived locally”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

I have been travelling to the Costa Del Sol to play golf for the last 13 years and have played this course many times. It is without doubt in my top five of courses i have played in the area. Always in excellent condition and easy enough to walk if you dont want to take a buggy. It is open in places and tight in others and gives everyone a chance. The greens and fairways are immaculate and the green staff always seem to be buzzing about doing work somewhere. Pleasant club house and the food and drink is great. Staff very attentive. If i have a criticism it is that they do not allow buggies on the course. I can understand it if the there was any chance of damage but when i was there it had not rained for weeks and the course was dry as a bone. In addition to this the other four courses i played that week allowed it. As a result of this you would be best walking with a trolley as you will walk less distance. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area to play golf and if i lived locally i would join here in front of any of the courses in the area.

“Give it a miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

I recently played Santana and I wasn't very impressed. There was 6 of us playing, so we booked 2 tee times well in advance. After we paid about £75/ £80 (buggy included) we were told that we had to play a 4 ball and the other 2 join up with a couple, he played off 28, she played off 36 (no doubt beginners). We complained and they said " no choice" what we normally do when there is a 3 ball charge for a 4 ball...never heard of that before!

Now the course was very average. There were a few nice holes but mainly they were just up and down. Some of the green were infected (we were told this just before we tee off).

Give it a miss.......go and play the europa course at La Cala... much better

“Best Golf Course on Costa del Sol”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

This stunning golf course is a MUST to play if you are in the Mijas area of Costa del Sol. The course is beautiful, challenging and all the staff are excellent, from your welcome right through to your meal in the restaurant all cannot do enough to ensure you to enjoy your day!
Special mention to the starters, green staff and the ranger for managing the play of the course, really superb. I cannot praise this course enough and I have played many in the whole of the Costa and this one is the best. One of its best attributes is that there are no apartments built all over the course (unlike some of the concrete jungles around some of the courses) just some villas and Fincas that were there before the course was built.

“OUr favourite course in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012 via mobile

There are many excellent golf courses on the Costa del Sol, with a good choice around the Mijas, La Cala area, but our favourite has to be Santana, a little more expensive than the rest but not by very much, it is a true test of golf for low handicap players, with plenty of space for the club golfer to enjoy, even the high handicap golfer gets great enjoyment from playing Santana, we have played it many times, with lots of different friends and they all agree it is excellent and they all return, the best recommendation. I have read negative comments about marshalling, we have only found the whole experience first class, and that includes the excellent club restaurant and bar, which has excellent food, and great service at an affordable price.

“Excellent Course spoiled by Cart Policy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

I have played this course many times in the last few years. It is a real test of golf with wide fairways and good greens. The 7th par 3 is prticularly tricky as is the par 5 8th which is a really long hole.. 3 good hits to get there for me..
The only stupid thing here is the Cart policy. They say Cart path only, exceptions for blue flag holders, and this with poor marshalling makes each shot a long walk to your ball, a change of mind on club, walk back to the cart , and then back to the ball...And when you complain that the round is taking over 5 hours they dont care , and say that this is the course policy. They do not tell groups who are slow to let you through easily .. Luckily there are many more sensible clubs to play !!
