“Day trip to Mijas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

A party of 4 from our hotel sol aloha puerto toramalinos. We took local bus cost €1.60 pp journey time about 30mins. What a beautiful village, so glad we went. Village is up in the hills with stunning views, little quaint streets, loads of chafes & restraunts . Would recommend a visit here & would definitely go back next time I'm in toramalinos, infact next time we would probably book in for overnight stay. This place is a must to visit & so ways to get there without paying overpriced trips from hotel.

“Don't go there with children !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Being in Mijas, we were intrigued by the promise of a "real bullfight", quite expensive (around 90 Euros in the shade, half that in the baking sun with no shade at all). As children get half price, we (naively) thought it would be fake - no killing (why admit children, right ?)
Error. They kill the bulls. Don't go there with young children. Ours was petrified (her mother hustled her out immediately once we realized that it was for real). I stayed just to have seen it - not my cup of tea, but if you're already inside anyway...
That being said, I do not wish to comment on whether killing the animals this way is right or wrong - let the Spaniards decide that for themselves, who are we to judge. Nevertheless 2 stars only not because they kill the bulls but because the corrida (at least when we visited) was far from convincing - provincial quality toreadors, very young bulls. I really did not get the feeling this is the real thing. And a long flamenco pre-program that was soooo tourist. And by the way, hard seating.

“A beautiful place to relax and watch the people go by”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Mijas is one of Andalucia's beautiful white villages, and the busy Plaza de Toros is at the heart of the town. Find yourself a table in one of the many cafés, order a coffee, rest, relax and watch all the people go by. The uphill drive to Mijas is a little hair-raising as you encounter too many hairpin bends and tight corners, but once there it's undoubtedly worth the time and trouble. Parts of the town can be too touristy, but just ignore those areas and enjoy the traditional Andalucian feel and ambiance of the whole place. My only advice is don't try to park on the streets as where's legal and where's not is not particularly clear, and I would suggest that a few Euros spent in the multi-story car park is by far the best option. A very good half-day trip - recommended!

“Beautiful Quaint Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

We travelled by local bus service to Mijas from Benalmadena which was really cheap and a lovely drive climbing up the mountains. The village is completely white with narrow winding hilly streets, very pretty with flowers, donkey rides and a beautiful shrine to our lady on the mountain side. There is a great range of leather goods for sale in the local shops, all produced locally top quality and excellent prices.
